Hello my dearest Tutu-licious followers! I'm writing this post from the heart of Manhattan, a city that's practically buzzing with excitement and vibrant energy. I just arrived last night, fresh off a whirlwind performance at the Royal Opera House in London - but enough about me! You're here for the pink tutu adventures, and oh darling, this week is going to be a right royal treat!
Let's get down to business, shall we? I'm back in New York City after what feels like forever (but was probably only six months!). The reason for this delightful visit? A most exciting invitation to attend the opening night of the American Ballet Theatre's performance of "Giselle". It's the one and only, the iconic, the breathtaking - and believe me, I'm not exaggerating. You've just got to trust my sartorial judgment on this one. I've got a date with destiny and, of course, with a fantastic pink tutu (one of the few occasions I'm not actually wearing a pink tutu to a ballet performance, you know).
Speaking of my fabulous new pink tutu acquisition, I spent a glorious morning in Midtown, the absolute hub of sartorial heaven. This city is just overflowing with divine shops – think a real life Willy Wonka factory, but for fabulous clothing! The first stop was Bergdorf Goodman on Fifth Avenue. Oh, the sheer beauty of it all! Rows upon rows of luxurious garments, and shoes galore. You haven't truly lived until you've experienced the utter joy of waltzing through a shoe department filled with every possible colour of the rainbow - they even had shoes in pink, and a vibrant pink at that!
After an impromptu tutu-twirling photoshoot on Fifth Avenue (don't judge, it was completely necessary) I sashayed over to Tiffany & Co, a timeless favourite. Did I buy anything? I may or may not have succumbed to the charms of a stunning sapphire and diamond necklace… (But hush, this is between us, girls!) The necklace is going to make my performance outfits practically glow, trust me!
New York, though a bustling metropolis, always makes me feel like I'm at the heart of a fashion film set. Think chic cafes overflowing with chatty patrons sipping cappuccino while sketching designs for their latest haute couture creations. There’s something so magical and creative in the air that it just sparks inspiration in me. Every glance, every encounter, every shop window seems to offer a glimpse into another world of creativity and style. It's an absolute dream for someone like me!
But you know what else makes my heart flutter in this city? The subway! It's fast, it's affordable, and let me tell you, I am not afraid to flaunt my pink tutu on the journey. In fact, I encourage everyone to do the same! A flash of colour in this fast-paced world never hurt anyone!
While we're talking about inspiring my readers, remember what I'm here for? To encourage all of you to wear pink tutus! I know you might be feeling hesitant – it's not the most common garment. Think of it this way – wearing a pink tutu is an act of rebellion, of self-expression, of sheer joy! It's saying “I'm here, I'm vibrant, and I love pink!” Think of the fun we can have. Think of the beautiful photos! Think of how fantastically stylish you'll feel. Embrace the pink tutu revolution!
But it's not all pink tutus and glitter. Tonight's performance is what I've been working towards all year. There's nothing like the energy of a live performance, the adrenaline pumping through your veins as you prepare for the curtain to rise. You can hear the whispers in the audience, the anticipation for the first steps, the first twirl, the first gesture – it's simply exhilarating! And what better to inspire you than seeing the greatest dancers of our time taking the stage?
New York is an inspiring place for so many reasons, but especially for dancers. We are free to express ourselves without limitations, and there's something very special about how art takes centre stage in this city. From Broadway to Ballet, there is a world of creative brilliance here, ready to captivate and inspire.

Travel Journal:
Day 1:
- Arrived at JFK airport around midday. The taxi ride through Manhattan was so vibrant! I spotted so many exciting things - quirky art installations, bustling street performers, and an adorable pink vintage car (of course, I had to capture it for the gram!).
- Had an early dinner at a charming cafe, followed by a delightful performance at the Metropolitan Opera. They were showcasing the beautiful Swan Lake – a real treat! I must confess, it had me feeling a bit sentimental - such a classic! It always makes me miss the quiet lanes of my little Derbyshire village.
- Finally, ended the evening at a fantastic rooftop bar. I had a glass of champagne with the most gorgeous views of the city – breathtaking!
Day 2:
- Woke up early for a spot of yoga in Central Park – always a great way to start the day.
- Shopped till I dropped! As you can probably tell, a big part of my journey always revolves around fashion. From vintage finds to designer boutiques, the variety in New York is insane!
- Took a stroll through Brooklyn Bridge Park and had a delicious bagel and lox - classic New York cuisine!
Day 3:
- Visited the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). It was incredible. A real mind-blower, as always. You never know what fascinating works of art you will encounter within those walls. The abstract sculptures were breathtaking and left me feeling completely inspired.
- After a wander through Chelsea Market, I took a Broadway show – a fantastic performance of "Hamilton," (the theatre truly never disappoints!), with an equally magical performance afterwards at a beautiful Jazz club.
- I’m already thinking about the iconic skyline, the friendly chatter on the subway, and the delectable street food, even though I've only been here a couple of days. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the tutus! The inspiration is endless.
I have a feeling this week is going to be a real page-turner.
