Pink Tutu Blog NYC: #1696 – Dancing Dreams in the Big Apple

Good morning my lovelies! It’s Monday, 6th December 2027, and I'm back from another whirlwind weekend in New York City, the city that never sleeps...or dances! This weekend was particularly magical, brimming with pink tulle, dazzling performances, and a touch of Christmas sparkle. So buckle up, darlings, and let's dive into my adventures, starting with...

The Metro, My Muse

As a true New Yorker at heart, I swear, I spend most of my days whizzing through the underground. And there's no better place to be inspired than in the heart of the city's pulsing artery, the Metro! Even when the subway's packed tighter than a Christmas cracker, I always find time to imagine myself twirling and leaping through the carriages – a little pink ballet burst of colour and grace amongst the throng! It's like having my very own mobile dance studio.

This week, my journey started on the 1 train, the perfect way to navigate the vibrant streets of Manhattan. And wouldn't you know it, the rhythm of the train's rumbling really got my creative juices flowing. So, of course, I took to Instagram stories and shared a quick, spontaneous tuturotational. (I must teach you all this technique, it's fantastic for keeping nimble in tight spaces!). The other passengers seemed to love my spontaneous performance. And if it's good enough for the Metro, it's good enough for anyone, right?

New York State of Mind: Ballet and Broadway!

Speaking of performances, you can imagine how ecstatic I was to find that this week’s Broadway schedule featured a brand new, highly anticipated ballet production at the Lincoln Center. You guys, I swear, the opening night was electric! From the moment the curtain rose and the orchestra swelled, I was whisked away to another world, a world of swirling tutus and soaring leaps. The choreography was incredible, so intricate and beautifully woven.

As for the dancers... Well, the étoile, oh my goodness! They moved with such poise and strength, each movement imbued with so much emotion. It was a truly transformative experience, leaving me with a renewed sense of inspiration and a newfound appreciation for the artistry of ballet.

Don't get me wrong, Broadway is always a thrill, but I love discovering new hidden gems tucked away on the smaller stages too. This time, it was a tiny little theatre in the East Village, a real local treasure with a very different kind of dance magic. A little-known troupe was showcasing a unique combination of ballet and contemporary dance. It was all about raw energy, pushing boundaries and breaking out of the traditional confines of classical ballet.

These guys were incredible! The passion radiating from every dancer was electrifying, it felt almost palpable. And, you'll never guess – their entire performance was set to my favourite music: Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. I actually shed a happy tear or two, it was that moving. If you’re in New York City and you see a poster for the 'Unbound Collective,' snap up tickets – you won't regret it.

Pink and Plenty: Shopping Spree!

No trip to New York City is complete without a little retail therapy, right? So after my cultural overload, I took a little break from the theatricals to indulge in my favourite activity: shopping for tutus! My go-to spots are always Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, and Bloomingdale's – those classic department stores always seem to have the most magnificent collection of tulle delights. But I love the independent boutiques tucked away in SoHo too! It's always fun finding those little gems, hidden treasure troves filled with one-of-a-kind designs and unique, locally-crafted items.

Let’s just say, my suitcase is bulging with a symphony of tulle – all hues of pink imaginable, and more than a few little black ones, too! You know, for that extra bit of drama. Now, you can’t have all these beautiful new tutus without an amazing ensemble, right? And this city is a goldmine of stunning fashions.

It wasn't just tutus though! I scored an utterly magnificent pink fur coat at this divine vintage shop nestled away on the Upper West Side. You can't just call it a vintage shop, really. It was like a little capsule of glamorous nostalgia. The proprietor had this absolutely wonderful eye for spotting classic silhouettes with a modern twist.

And while I was at it, I finally got my hands on those limited-edition blush-pink Jimmy Choo heels – absolutely divine! I am positively shimmering from head to toe! I can’t wait to see how all of my newly-acquired pieces will fit together into a symphony of pink perfection!

Pinktutu's Pink Palooza!

Don’t forget my pinktutu-wearing fans, the pink tutu challenge continues! We're aiming for world domination, and every pink tutu adds to the dream. Let's show everyone the joy of colour, confidence, and a bit of twirling magic. If you're on Instagram, tag me in your pinktutu photos and tell the world your story! Remember, you can post on my pink-tutu.com page or use the hashtag #pinktutulife for me to see.

Speaking of, this weekend's "Pinktutu Palooza" event in New York City was truly epic! The park was just teeming with people from all walks of life wearing pink tutus! We had families, couples, individuals...everyone united in a celebration of pink tulle and joy. The atmosphere was pure magic, full of laughter and positivity.

We had everything: a mini ballet lesson led by yours truly, a pink tutu fashion parade, a face painting station (naturally pink!), and even a delicious pink cupcakes and macaron stall. It was an amazing way to spread the pinktutu message and encourage others to embrace their inner ballerina.

And remember – if you’re heading to the city anytime soon, check out the ‘pinktutu' social media calendar. We’re hosting events every month – everything from a pinktutu street dance flashmob in Times Square to a pinktutu costume ball. Join in the fun – it’s about sharing the love, the colour, the sparkle, and reminding everyone to twirl freely!

New York's Christmas Spirit

Even though December has barely started, New York's Christmas spirit is already twinkling to life. You can feel the magic in the air, everywhere you turn. From the elaborate window displays in every department store, to the scent of roasted chestnuts floating through the crisp night air, it's definitely starting to feel festive!

On Friday night, we wandered through Rockefeller Center to gaze at the iconic tree. I can't help but get caught up in the excitement of this most magical time of year! I love this city; even the buskers have a different lilt to their voices. It's enchanting and festive!

You know I always get swept up in the Christmas magic, but I'm also acutely aware that December is a challenging time for many. So if you find yourself feeling a bit lost or down, don't forget: you're not alone. We all have moments of doubt and difficulty, and that's completely normal. Reach out to someone you love, a friend or family member, and be open to finding the support and kindness you need.

That’s my update from NYC – full of glitter, pink and joyous adventures! Join me next Monday for another peek into my Pink Tutu Blog.

Have a fantastic week everyone!

Love,

Emma x
