Hello, my lovely Tutu Tribe!
It's Monday morning here in New York City, and the sun is just peeking over the skyscrapers, casting long, warm rays across Central Park. I'm sitting in my favourite cafe, a tiny, tucked away spot on the Upper East Side with floral wallpaper and delicious lavender lattes (I must be getting too Parisian for my own good!). It's been a whirlwind weekend of dancing, shopping, and a little bit of Broadway magic, so settle in, grab a cuppa (or a pink cupcake - you know I always have a stash!), and let me tell you all about it!
A Dreamy Debut
This weekend was a real milestone for my dancing. I was lucky enough to be invited to perform with a wonderful, up-and-coming ballet company here in New York - the Gotham Grace. It's an incredible troupe, filled with incredibly talented dancers, and I'm still on a cloud! The performance was at the gorgeous Symphony Space Theatre, a truly iconic space. The atmosphere was electric. As soon as the curtain opened, I could feel the excitement from the audience, and their cheers when the finale finished were pure magic.
I'll be honest, performing on stage was an absolute dream! Every step felt like a magical flight, every twirl a burst of pure joy. I love how performing can truly make your spirit soar. And, of course, I had to be in the perfect outfit! My favourite pink tutu, sparkling with thousands of tiny sequins, paired with my signature red velvet shoes - I was a vision of ballet elegance!
NYC Fashion Wonderland
No trip to the Big Apple is complete without some serious retail therapy. And believe me, New York didn't disappoint! The city is a haven for fashionistas. I simply had to visit Bergdorf Goodman. The flagship store is just as iconic as they say! Rows and rows of luxurious clothing, exquisite shoes, and fabulous handbags... oh, and of course, the perfume department was absolutely divine! I walked out with a stunning, limited edition fragrance that smelled of honeysuckle and starlit nights. My wardrobe was crying out for something truly special and I definitely found it there.
Broadway Buzz
This trip has been all about seeing some incredible shows. After my debut with Gotham Grace, it just felt natural to experience some Broadway magic! Saturday evening, I ventured to the heart of Theatre District to catch the long-awaited revival of " Carousel. The performance was truly magnificent. The music was spellbinding, the story beautifully poignant, and the dancers - well, let's just say I was mesmerized. The energy of a live Broadway show is truly infectious.
I'm so thankful for every opportunity to perform and every magical experience that this city offers. I’m loving the Big Apple - the vibrant energy, the friendly faces, and of course, the incredible array of delicious pink treats (you knew this would be mentioned!).
Pink Tutu Tips:
New York can be overwhelming, but there are some things I've learnt over my numerous visits. For anyone planning a trip, here's my advice:
- Don't Be Afraid of the Subway. The NYC metro might look intimidating, but it's the most efficient way to navigate the city! My top tip? Buy an unlimited travel pass, it saves you money and allows you to explore all the boroughs.
- Find your perfect pink pick-me-up. Whether it's a latte, a cupcake, or a piece of clothing, make sure you indulge in something that brings you joy! New York is full of wonderful little cafes, bakeries, and boutiques that are perfect for a pink-tastic treat.
- Take time to breathe. With so much going on, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind. Don't be afraid to step away from the action and take a moment to enjoy the beautiful views.
