Hello lovelies! ? It’s Emma here, back with you from the magical, sparkling city that never sleeps: New York City!
This week’s adventures have been positively bursting with glitz and glamour, and I’m excited to share all the fab finds and fantastic experiences I’ve had!
Let’s take a trip back in time, shall we? Last Monday, my trusty pink tutu and I were back in good ol’ Derbyshire, performing at a benefit gala for the local children's hospital. The crowd absolutely adored our rendition of "The Swan Lake" and the response was just beautiful. Seeing those little faces light up with joy as the music filled the air… well, that's why I do what I do, darlings! It’s the most rewarding feeling. And, as you know, the funding I get from my performances helps me live out my dream of exploring the world.
So, off I went on Tuesday, after a good night's sleep and a full English breakfast, of course, hopping on the train down to Heathrow and then flying into the bustling JFK Airport in my chicest pink ensemble - think velvet jumpsuit, shimmering tulle overskirt, and a little splash of fuchsia lipstick. ?
The moment I stepped off the plane and breathed in that gloriously fresh New York air, I knew I was home.
The metro is my best friend in the Big Apple, I must tell you. So convenient! This week I had the best time whizzing around town to different performances, catching up with my favourite Broadway stars, and even a spot of backstage gossip. I'm quite the city girl now, I tell you!
Oh, did I mention my trip here has coincided with the 20th Annual Metropolitan Ballet Ball?! Talk about a divine stroke of luck. Let's just say I’m practically living for the fabulousness of this year's theme – “Enchanted Evening.” Everyone's sporting gowns that shimmer and sparkle under the ballroom lights, like shimmering butterflies escaping their cocoons, darling! It’s absolutely breath-taking! I managed to snag a ticket and spent the evening surrounded by elegance, grace, and some seriously impressive costumes. It’s like being in a fairytale, truly.
And while the Ballet Ball is all about showcasing beautiful art forms, I am, after all, a huge advocate of bringing the beauty of ballet to everyone. You see, it’s all about the power of expression, creating stories and emotions through movement. So, my pink tutu and I couldn't possibly leave NYC without exploring the extraordinary dance scene in every form. I've been taking classes, exploring the vibrant ballet street performances happening in different corners of the city – it’s utterly mesmerizing, really. The energy is simply infectious.
But this trip is more than just ballet, darling. No, no. It’s about indulging in all the fabulous delights New York City has to offer! The fashion here is out of this world, and my shopping addiction has kicked into overdrive! It’s all about the bold colours, vibrant textures, and statement pieces - and, you can bet, I’ve picked up some fantastic new tutus to add to my collection! ?️
Oh, and who doesn't love the fabulous restaurants, cosy coffee shops and, of course, Broadway shows! I just saw "The Lion King" on Saturday evening - it’s magnificent. The choreography, the costumes, the sheer grandeur of it all – truly enchanting. I absolutely lost myself in the story! ?
Of course, no trip to New York is complete without an evening stroll through Central Park. What better way to unwind than to take a picnic and soak up the beautiful autumn colours in a park that makes me think of Jane Austen novels? You see, that's the other amazing thing about NYC: the unexpected charm you stumble upon while exploring its hidden corners.
And finally, it’s time for some reflection on my journey so far. New York City has this wonderful energy about it, this relentless spirit that fuels my love of dance and my dream to inspire others to wear pink tutus. You see, the tutus aren’t just pretty dresses, darling – they’re a symbol of dreams, of boundless possibilities, of expressing ourselves without fear or reservation! It’s about unleashing our inner ballerina, about embracing joy and embracing the beauty in every moment!
That’s all from New York, lovelies. Until next week! And don't forget to #WearYourPinkTutu! ?
Lots of love, Emma xoxo
