Pink Tutu Blog NYC - Post 1775: A Pink Tutu Paradise in the Big Apple!

Hello darlings! It's Monday, June 11th, 2029, and the sun is shining like a thousand diamonds upon this fabulous city, just as I’m tapping out my latest New York adventures on my little laptop. As always, I’m embracing life in my pinkest tutu, ready to spread the love of dance and colour wherever I go! You’ll be relieved to hear I’m safely back in New York, after another glorious whirlwind of travel and adventure in the Big Apple. It was a trip bursting with sparkle, fashion, and the most incredible performance you can imagine. Oh, the stories I have to tell!

You know how much I love a good show. Last week, I danced my way around New York’s vibrant theatres, and this week, I'm starting my adventures with an exciting new find – the "New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center" - oh my, it was phenomenal! Just the thought of these extraordinary dancers spinning across the stage in their perfect pink tutus fills me with a certain je ne sais quoi! I just can't help myself - I adore all things pink and all things ballet!

My week, however, began back in Derbyshire. Don’t you just love when you see those lush green fields and the scent of hay lingering in the air? But as I boarded the plane at East Midlands Airport, the thrill of adventure was buzzing in my veins. I simply adore the sensation of hurtling through the clouds, feeling so free! I do wonder if flying makes anyone else crave a certain type of bubblegum pink?

It was an utterly delightful experience. Imagine it - my bright pink tutu sparkling in the cabin sunlight against a backdrop of those vast clouds! Oh, if only everyone could share this sensation. Imagine the world being a little brighter! It truly does feel like I'm dancing towards a brighter future for every single one of you out there! And who knows, maybe one day you'll all join me on a tutu-fied adventure!

Of course, one thing I absolutely love about my trips back to Derbyshire is the chance to pop in to see my mum and dad. My mum always spoils me with home-cooked dinners and my dad is, of course, just so proud of all I've achieved with this crazy Pink Tutu adventure! We shared some good chats over the dinner table. He couldn't believe I had written 1775 of these little blog posts already. Honestly, he thought I’d given up long ago! But I couldn’t tell him I’m never stopping. Sharing my love of dance, colour and all things lovely with everyone makes this whole adventure worth it, doesn’t it?

But let’s return to the excitement of New York! On Tuesday, I hit the pavement running. First stop – the shops! Oh my gosh, the streets were practically vibrating with colour and a fabulous shopping spree was well overdue. The designers in this city have a genius for finding those perfect colours to add that oomph to a look! Did you know that New York is officially known as "the fashion capital of the world"? Oh, I adore it so! From fabulous hats and sparkly shoes to dresses the colour of candyfloss - New York has something for everyone! And what’s a pink tutu wearing blogger to do in the middle of all that beautiful clothing? But of course – shop till you drop!

Speaking of shops - one particular favourite is Saks Fifth Avenue. It’s just the kind of place that feels as though the very floors of the store are designed to make you smile! The sales assistants know just what you’re looking for and can make even the simplest look a masterpiece! Of course, my inner tutu girl is never far from my side when I'm browsing through these chic collections, and I have to say I ended up getting the most delightful dress that practically shouted out "Pink Tutu"! With the lightest splash of hot pink sequins and the prettiest pink feathered detailing on the shoulders – It just screams, "I'm in New York, ready to dance the night away!"

My second must-visit shop was a tiny little gem on Bleecker Street called “Lilac Love.” Now, that little shop oozes with that adorable “vintage-yet-trendy” feel – you know, the kind of place where you'll feel utterly empowered by simply stepping through the door. They have this fabulous, soft pink chiffon that has a certain je ne sais quoi. If you’re in the city, do go and find this wonderful shop! Oh, how I wish I could add it to my little blog for all to find!

To top it all off, after that fantastic spree through the world of fashion, I made sure to go for the most magnificent afternoon tea I’ve ever had in my entire life. Tea, of course, served in dainty pastel pink teacups and tiny, elegant plates brimming with cakes, tarts and savories - it really does set a standard for all afternoon teas going forward, doesn’t it? There are places in this city that give a true appreciation of the beauty and elegance of a good cuppa. A delightful day indeed!

Wednesday started in the most fabulously magical way - I saw the incredible "Dance With The Stars: New York Edition" performance! And trust me, darling, these performers didn’t disappoint. Their moves were perfectly poised, graceful and a testament to how the power of dance truly makes people glow. And there I was, seated in my pink tutu, surrounded by dancers just like me. What an amazing place for any tutu-lover, and a fantastic way to start a Wednesday, don’t you think?

Thursday took me on a delicious whirlwind adventure through New York’s vibrant culinary scene! What else is better than eating your way through the Big Apple, while dancing in your most exquisite pink tutu, I ask you! Now, when I said eating my way through the Big Apple, I’m talking authentic Italian, exquisite French pastries, mouthwatering Thai curry, you name it, I’ve eaten it! But, there was one restaurant that stole my heart: A little place in Chinatown called "The Little Dumpling Queen." Everything, from the plates to the decorations, screamed pink. They had a whole pink dumpling on the menu and every bite was as heavenly as it sounded! It’s fair to say my stomach was absolutely filled with love by the end of that afternoon!

And now for the heart and soul of every New York trip – the dazzling Broadway Shows! I managed to secure the most wonderful ticket for "Hamilton," which was simply breath-taking, of course, and left me speechless in the best way possible! The performance, oh my! It just swept me off my feet. My cheeks were sore from smiling for so long! Oh, and if I hadn't said it already - there's something undeniably romantic about the feeling of a Broadway audience going wild with applause after the curtain falls - it fills me with an unbridled joy that’s just so hard to put into words! It's all so uplifting, and so New York!

Of course, after every exciting night at the theatre, there has to be the perfect after-party location, and Friday night saw me shimmying and swaying with some fabulous new friends in one of the most glamorous dance spots in the city. As the night got into full swing, the lights dimmed, and everyone danced beneath a glitter-ball sky, the atmosphere became electric. A dance floor filled with such vivacious energy that even the most reserved individual would get swept up in the rhythm! I felt as though my pink tutu had become an invisible conduit, connecting me to everyone around me in this moment. I couldn’t imagine anything better than spending the night surrounded by people, in such a joyous atmosphere - after all, a bit of glitter and dance never hurt anyone!

It's no wonder New York City is called the "City That Never Sleeps" – as a fellow dancer and glitter lover, I find the energy of this place infectious! Of course, on Saturday, it’s important to allow your body and soul a day of rejuvenation after a long and beautiful week. It's that perfect mix of energy and elegance that I think attracts all of us to the city in the first place, and this feeling can be a little overwhelming at times! My afternoon was spent with my friend Emma at one of her favourite cafes: The Pink Flamingo. It’s exactly what you imagine - covered in pink from floor to ceiling - oh how I adored every moment!

Sunday dawned on a brand new week and another chapter in my life’s adventures! I’m incredibly fortunate that this magical pink tutu allows me to experience so much of the world, and the friendships that come from that journey make it all worthwhile. I don't think any other city has ever made me feel so wonderfully free!

I can't imagine life without my Pink Tutu! I have so many big ideas and plans - and the future feels like an endless dance floor waiting to be explored. I have the most incredible memories, some of the most fabulous clothes, and a heart brimming with joy after a wonderful trip back to the city.

So here’s to dancing our way through the rest of the week! What have you been up to this past week? I’d love to hear all about it! But remember, this week's blog post is just a small slice of my life – I post updates every Monday at www.pink-tutu.com - so come back soon for even more magical pink-tutu filled adventures! And never forget, darlings – keep your smiles bright and wear your pink tutu proudly! It's time to show the world just how fabulous it is to live in colour and to dance like no one's watching!
