Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post 1790 - Twirling Through the Big Apple! ??

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, back from another whirlwind adventure in the magical metropolis of New York City! I must tell you, this week has been utterly enchanting - from discovering the hidden gems of the Upper East Side to catching a show that sent shivers down my spine. I'm absolutely brimming with excitement to share all the dazzling details with you. Grab your favourite pink cuppa (it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Blog post without a bit of pink!) and settle in, because we're diving into a week of tutus, tutus, and more tutus!

The Big Apple Ballet Adventure:

Now, I know what you're thinking - how on earth does one get to travel the world in a pink tutu? Well, let me tell you, it's a combination of hard work, dedication, and of course, a sprinkle of pink magic! You see, darling, I'm a professional ballerina. Yes, I twirl my way through life, performing for audiences big and small. The money I earn helps me to follow my other passion - exploring the world, spreading the pink tutu gospel, and soaking up all the fashion inspiration I can get my hands on!

This week, I found myself back in the vibrant heart of New York, ready to embrace everything the city has to offer. After a quick, chic pit stop at my favourite pink-hued hotel near Times Square, I was off on my first adventure - a trip to Lincoln Center! Now, any self-respecting ballerina knows that Lincoln Center is a holy grail of the performing arts. The buzz in the air is electrifying, and it feels like every corner holds a whispered promise of magic.

This week, I had the absolute privilege of witnessing the New York City Ballet performing "Swan Lake". The choreography was simply divine! It's always a delight to see ballet classics given a fresh and exciting new interpretation. And speaking of magic, darling, did I tell you about the amazing costumes? A sea of tutus, oh my! And while my own pink tulle creation didn't make an appearance on the stage this time (although one can dream, right? Perhaps a special guest ballerina slot in the future!), the dancers truly captivated me with their grace and passion.

From the Ballet to the Big Screen:

From the enchanting world of Swan Lake, it was on to Broadway! After a scrumptious dinner of vegan sushi (yes, they do have that in NYC, darling!) and a spot of pink cocktails, I found myself heading to the Gershwin Theatre. This time, I wasn't there to twirl but to immerse myself in a captivating tale on stage - "The Lion King". It was truly awe-inspiring! The colours, the music, the costumes...everything was just absolutely perfect. There was something about the spectacle of it all, the way it brought the stories of the African savannah to life right before my eyes, that filled me with a sense of childlike wonder. I wouldn't have traded that experience for anything.

Fashion Find - The Pinkest Boutique on Fifth Avenue:

Oh, but I haven't even told you about the most exciting find of the week! While meandering along Fifth Avenue (it's always a good idea to bring a tutu on your NYC explorations, just saying!), I stumbled upon the most delightful boutique. It wasn't just any boutique, darlings, oh no! This was a haven of pink bliss - a veritable paradise for any tutu-loving fashionista. They had the most fabulous selection of tutus imaginable, each more beautiful and whimsical than the next. From delicate layers of tulle to extravagant, eye-catching designs, it was truly a dream come true for any tutu enthusiast. I had to reign myself in, but let's just say my bag ended up with some new additions, including a sparkly pink tulle skirt and a feather boa fit for a queen!

Metro Moments:

Of course, no trip to New York is complete without a bit of adventure on the subway. For me, navigating the New York City Metro is all part of the charm. It's a whirlwind of activity and energy, a living, breathing tapestry of people and cultures. And let's not forget the fabulous fashion opportunities! Every journey on the metro becomes a catwalk of its own, with a fascinating array of styles. But let's be honest, it can be a tad overwhelming. But, I'm here to offer some tips from my own Pink Tutu NYC experiences:

  • Always have a good book: A great read will whisk you away while you navigate those underground corridors.
  • Pick your station strategically: You can often find yourself smack dab in the middle of some seriously trendy districts with a few strategic stops on the map.
  • Embrace the pink: Look, a bright pink tutu definitely attracts attention in any situation, and the New York Metro is no different. However, you can't shy away from that, darling! It's all part of the fun.
  • The platform is your stage! The metro platforms, especially the ones near Times Square, are like an impromptu stage for New York City. Let loose and let your personality shine!

Pink Tutus in Times Square:

And what better stage to strut my stuff than Times Square itself? I admit, it can be a bit intimidating, even for a seasoned tutu-wearing ballerina! But darling, when in New York, embrace the boldness and embrace the pink! As I posed in my favourite fuchsia tutu on Broadway (I even managed to get some awesome photos with a friendly Spiderman!) I couldn't help but think, wouldn't it be amazing if everyone embraced the magic of the pink tutu? To spread a message of fun, creativity, and joie de vivre wherever you go! I know I have my work cut out for me, but let's face it - wouldn't the world be a much more sparkly place if everyone dared to wear a pink tutu once in a while?

A Pink Tutu Farewell:

And so, darling, as the sun sets over this vibrant city, I leave New York feeling inspired, refreshed, and, of course, a little bit pink. From the ethereal beauty of Swan Lake to the explosive energy of Broadway, this week in the Big Apple has been truly unforgettable. It's given me so much fuel for my passion, and I'm already dreaming of my next tutu-tastic adventure.

Until next Monday, darlings, may your week be filled with pink joy and sparkling moments!

Love always,

Emma
