Hello, darlings! Emma here, back from the Big Apple with a heart overflowing with glitter, Broadway dreams, and of course, the most divine tutus! ✨
It's Monday, 15th October, 2029, and as the sun paints the skyscrapers with its golden glow, I can't help but feel a little bit of that New York magic seeping into my soul. It's been a whirlwind week filled with ballet, Broadway, and endless cups of steaming hot cocoa. I even managed to squeeze in a little bit of retail therapy – after all, what's a trip to New York without a tutu-tiful shopping spree? ?
This week, I took the Metro, of course – a truly wonderful way to travel! The tunnels are like underground catwalks, filled with interesting faces and so many tutu-inspiring outfits. (Just imagine the possibilities if every New Yorker embraced the joy of pink tutus!) I mean, can you even imagine the impact? ??
As always, I was lucky enough to perform a couple of pieces – I always enjoy getting back to my roots and sharing my passion for ballet. My favourite this week was a contemporary number I did at the gorgeous Kaufman Music Center, set to the most dreamy score. The audience was incredible – their cheers truly warmed my heart and fuelled my soul with the magic of dance. ?✨
And speaking of magic, nothing beats a Broadway show. I simply adore them! This week, I snagged a last-minute ticket for "A Star is Born", the musical, and oh my goodness! The singing, the dancing, the costumes! Every part of it was dazzling. Even the story itself made me feel all the emotions – laughter, tears, a whole rainbow of feels! ??
Tutu Talk
I'm obsessed with the gorgeous tutu that I discovered on my shopping adventures! It’s a vibrant shade of fuchsia with delicate layers of tulle, and the detailing around the waistband is a real work of art! I simply can't resist a classic tutu shape, and this one really ticked all my boxes – the perfect combination of whimsical and chic! ?
For those of you who are a little more tentative about embracing the full tutu experience, there are so many ways to integrate this iconic piece into your wardrobe. I'm talking about tutu-inspired accessories! There are beautiful tutus in a myriad of fabrics, colours, and styles - there really is something for everyone! I particularly love pairing a fluffy tulle scarf with my denim jacket for a dash of colour and sparkle! ✨
What’s on Today
I'm off to the New York City Ballet for a show tonight. I hear it’s "Giselle", one of my absolute favourites. There's just something so romantic and captivating about this ballet – the story, the music, the choreography – it's pure ballet bliss! I’m looking forward to the captivating dance performances. It will definitely be the highlight of my week. ?
From Derbyshire to New York City
It’s been so wonderful to connect with so many fellow ballet enthusiasts in New York. This week, I met a fantastic group of dancers who, just like me, have travelled the world for their love of the art form. It really is amazing how ballet can connect us across cultures and continents! ?
I also caught up with my darling friend, Chloe, who flew in from Derbyshire. She's my best friend from back home – you know, the friend who helped me with my first ever performance with the Derbyshire Youth Ballet? ? We've had the most fantastic time catching up and reminiscing about our favourite Derbyshire ballet memories!
Chloe is a huge supporter of the "Pink Tutu for Everyone" movement. We believe that the world needs a bit more joy, a bit more sparkle, and of course, a bit more pink. (It's really not that complicated!) ? We aim to show the world that tutus are for everyone – no matter what age, gender, or profession! ??
