Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina blogger, back from a whirlwind week in the most fabulous city on earth - New York City! ?
This week, my toes have been tapping on the shiny, new, and beautifully renovated floors of the glorious Metropolitan Opera House (what a dream!) after I caught a phenomenal production of ‘Giselle’ on Friday night. Honestly, it’s my favourite ballet, and I never get tired of watching it! ?
Oh, the costumes, the music, the dancing, it was perfection. I just love the passion of the New York City Ballet; it's exhilarating! I felt like I was a part of something extraordinary, and I'm still feeling those magical vibes! ?
As I usually do when in the city that never sleeps, I indulged in some retail therapy before the show. What better way to get ready for a glamorous night out than to shop for a gorgeous outfit? I picked up a new black velvet mini skirt with silver embellishments that I'm absolutely obsessed with. I knew I just had to have it - paired with my favourite pink tutu, of course! ?
On Saturday, I took myself for a lovely long walk through Central Park. The crisp, autumn air was delightful. It was quite a contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city! I couldn’t help but twirl and do a few petit jetés. It felt fantastic to stretch my legs and embrace the stunning scenery after the theatre show. Of course, I had to document the moment for you lovely lot on my Instagram - look out for my pink tutu floating around Central Park! ✨
Speaking of social media, my latest Instagram Reels showing my favourite pink tutus has gone viral! It’s so encouraging to see people getting inspired to wear their own pink tutus – thank you to everyone who sent me messages of support! ?
Remember, darling, wearing pink tutus isn’t just about fashion, it's about expressing yourself and bringing joy to the world! That's what makes life exciting, don't you agree? It’s like adding a splash of colour to the world. I know I’m never without one wherever I go!
On Sunday, I met up with my friend Sarah, another ballerina extraordinaire, for a magical day exploring some of the city’s hidden gems. We had such a fabulous time exploring Little Italy – the smells from the restaurants were just heavenly! I’m not a very good cook, but it certainly made me wish I was! ? Then we found ourselves browsing the amazing vintage shops on Bleecker Street, where I snagged an adorable floral beret to complete my ballet-inspired style! ? (It goes wonderfully with the black velvet skirt and, naturally, a pink tutu!)
It’s amazing how quickly the time flies when you're in the heart of New York City, and so I must be on my way to catch my flight back to dear ol' Derbyshire. The city certainly lives up to its reputation as the Big Apple; it's full of energy, vibrance, and opportunity. Every time I return I’m filled with renewed excitement about the power of passion and the magic of dance. ✨

Today's Metro Moments
There's something magical about New York's subway system. It's a vibrant, moving portrait of city life! ? Every trip is a whirlwind of colour, characters, and unique moments. And this trip was no different. Let me share with you a few highlights from this week:
The Tutu Tribe: I was boarding the A train at Times Square station when I caught a glimpse of a fellow tutu enthusiast. Imagine my joy when I saw the beautiful young lady sporting a pale blue tulle skirt! ? It’s like she knew my secret, our secret, that we’re united in our tutu love! We shared a knowing look and a little curtsey and continued our journey in a flurry of pink and blue!
Musical Masterpiece: One morning I hopped on the subway at the 86th Street station. And the most enchanting melody filled the platform! A talented busker played a heartfelt tune on a violin, the sounds weaving their way through the bustling station and leaving me utterly enchanted! It was like a mini performance in the middle of the metro! ?
Random Acts of Kindness: It’s great to see acts of kindness everywhere. On the N train, a gentleman gave up his seat for a lady carrying a very heavy shopping bag. It just goes to show that no matter how chaotic the city gets, people always find ways to connect with each other!

- The annual 'Winter Wonderland' opening ceremony in Bryant Park - an incredible ice skating show that will leave you completely charmed! (Especially the children!). ⛸️
- An ice skating party for the ages at Rockefeller Centre. The annual giant Christmas Tree makes the centre an epic wintery playground for all ages. Have you booked your ice skating lessons yet? They’re available all throughout the winter months! ?
- A magical display of twinkling lights in The Gardens at Brooklyn Botanic Garden. They hold their annual display each winter and are a must-visit, with all those lights illuminating the gardens after dark! They’re stunning.
But my dears, the best thing to check out, the biggest treat of all…
... The Nutcracker! It’s officially show time at the Lincoln Center, a beautiful historic landmark, which was actually designed in part by our famous Derbyshire Architect, Frank Lloyd Wright! I’m always a little extra excited for the Nutcracker as it makes me remember dancing with my local ballet school all those years ago. And it brings back a beautiful Derbyshire tradition: dancing!
