Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Post 1801 - Dancing in the City That Never Sleeps!

Hello, my darlings! It's Monday, December 10th, 2029, and guess what? I'm back in New York City! You just know I had to make it back before the holidays kicked off properly, don't you? This city is absolutely magical in December, with twinkling lights, ice skating rinks, and festive cheer everywhere you turn.

Now, I can't possibly tell you about my trip without showing you the very first thing I did when I arrived. Let me just say, I knew exactly where I wanted to be, and it was no surprise that the Metro was involved. This beautiful, fast and ever-reliable system just gets me going. For me, it is all part of the excitement of arriving in this crazy, chaotic but magical place! And yes, I was twirling in a pink tutu on the platform. I couldn't resist, especially when everyone was looking! A little peek at the picture here...

I can already feel a bit of a "homecoming" in this vibrant city. But even though I have been here quite a lot now, every time I visit it feels different. There's always something new to discover, and the people are just so incredibly friendly and welcoming, even if I do stand out a little! Honestly, you could tell anyone I was from the UK, or rather, Derbyshire in my case, and not even my pink tutu makes me any less a Londoner at heart! It feels like everyone is on an adventure here - just like me - so it's so easy to get swept up in the excitement!

And speaking of excitement, guess what else is happening here in the City that Never Sleeps? Yes! It's time for Christmas performances. You bet I've already got my ticket for "The Nutcracker" and tickets to a couple of shows at the famous Radio City Music Hall - I simply have to experience the Christmas Spectacular! You know, I actually love this time of year so much in the UK too. The air is crisp, there are festive lights everywhere, and of course, we get those beautiful wintery frosty scenes. I can just imagine a lovely, cozy fire, some hot chocolate and a festive movie on TV. And of course, there's always a big festive party to go to too - all in a pink tutu, naturally!

Now, you might think a girl could never get enough pink tutus but of course, this is my personal fashion challenge! You can't blame me for wanting to try on all the pretty festive dresses and tutus that make an appearance on the shop floors at this time of year! What could be more fun than getting to wear pink, sparkly and tutu on Christmas Day?! Just think of all the pictures!

Speaking of "the look", you know me and my pink tutus. If you know the City, you'll understand this story. The other day, I was doing a bit of shopping for a fabulous vintage sequined dress - something special for this New York Christmas! - when I met someone who I thought had something very interesting to say to me about the city...

**(Picture of Emma in the subway station. Her outfit consists of a full length sequined skirt, long sleeved pale pink sweater with sparkling gold embellishment. Her pink tutu and bright pink gloves with glittery accents is slung over her shoulder. Her bag has a pink fluffy trim, the handle with large crystal accents. She has her favourite ballet shoes in one hand. )

You know, this particular station seemed a lot like the others but I must say, a particular store in this particular station was the perfect way to make an outfit choice. It's right by the escalators to the next platform. If you ever take the train, I know you'll find it, but it is definitely the one that has more than its share of brightly colored Christmas tree lights! You know, all those flashing sparkly things really do give a girl a bit of a boost on a chilly winter morning. So, I must have been particularly cheerful because there was this gorgeous girl with the biggest smile - almost as wide as mine! She was standing close to the store where I'd just been. She looked pretty darned stylish too, all in dark green velvet and a bright, sparkly green sequined headband - the sort of thing you get when you're going to a ball. Then I saw the little boy, all bundled up in layers. As they got close, I heard them. It really took me by surprise, especially here in the city. I didn't really know what to expect. But it just went to show you never really know where a bit of tutu love can be found!

"It's not your fault Mummy, if I fall asleep at school again, you made sure we saw that girl in the pink tutu!" I knew he must be talking about me, but there I was, a bit stuck as to what to say, but this lady was quick witted! "Honestly" she chuckled "there's nothing like the sheer happiness of a pink tutu to help a child survive a busy, bustling morning in the city!"

Oh my darling! Honestly, that was simply delightful, a real "pink tutu moment" if you will, especially from such a beautifully dressed lady! And what do you know, there it was again, an absolute testament to what we love about the City! I truly love the magic of the city! Every encounter just reinforces that the world needs a whole lot more pink tutus! We can all learn a thing or two from these amazing people of this incredible city. What more could I possibly want? To experience all the things, the Christmas cheer and then return to London at least, for my big December performances. I have such an exciting time to come.

What's happening next week? Well, this coming Saturday it's off to the theater! You can't miss the Nutcracker in New York! And on Sunday I have a very exciting ballet class scheduled at The Alvin Ailey School. They say they have great Christmas Ballet and they don't get nearly as cold as back in Derbyshire. I'm looking forward to spending Christmas with my family after all this running around!

Oh! Before I forget. Remember, I am off to Ballet Dance Live!, in December, it's one of the highlights of my year! A must-attend event, filled with dancing, shopping, food, fashion, beauty, inspiration and even more pink tutus.

I do hope this blog post finds you all well, in good health, happy, feeling festive, and enjoying some delicious treats. You know I love a nice piece of chocolate pudding or an ice cream. But if you're following a diet, don't worry, it's just another fun pink tutu thing you can add to the list - and we can discuss that next week!

I can't wait to bring you all the glitz and glamour from my December performances! And I can't wait for you to see what exciting new, fabulous pink tutu fashion choices I will have waiting for you! I will be wearing one all the time in December and you know, this New York Christmas will probably be a tutu dream! So be sure to come back here every Monday and be inspired by our next fabulous journey together. Remember to find your "pink tutu" moment. I think we can all agree that every day needs a bit of pink, sparkle, and tutu don't you think?

With all my love and big tutu hugs,

Emma
