Hey darlings! It's Monday again, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure! This week I'm whisked away to the magical, dazzling city that never sleeps... New York City! How's a girl from Derbyshire supposed to handle all this excitement?!
Pink Tutu On the Go:
After a whirlwind journey (complete with a super comfy, sparkly pink sleeping mask for the flight - naturally!), I'm finally in New York, all set to explore this fabulous city in my favourite, ever-so-daring pink tutu! Yes, even in this stylish, urban landscape, my pink tulle is coming along for the ride. Because after all, why should we ever abandon our passion for pink and twirling, no matter where we are?!
My very first order of business was to embrace the New York subway! Now, this was an adventure in itself. The city underground is such a symphony of movement, noise and fascinating people – not to mention the brilliant neon colours everywhere you look! My pink tutu definitely turned some heads, but everyone was so lovely. I even caught a few grins and giggles as I waltzed down the platforms - what's a little twirl here and there in the middle of a packed carriage, after all?!
Ballet & Broadway:
This trip has everything a tutu-loving girl could want: Broadway, ballet, and shopping - oh, my! You can bet I've already booked my tickets to see "The Nutcracker" at the Lincoln Center! (I mean, it's a Christmas tradition even for a girl who spends most of December performing in her own Winter Wonderland in the Derbyshire countryside!) And let's not forget that magical, sequin-strewn experience of seeing a show in the heart of Times Square! I can barely wait! (And I've already scoped out a magnificent red, feathered hat that'll make me the perfect Broadway Diva on opening night!)
Shopping Heaven:
So what are a ballerina's favourite things to do in New York, you ask? Why, a little retail therapy, naturally! Every shop, every street corner – they're all calling out for a bit of Pink Tutu sparkle! I'm making sure to explore all the fabulous shops in the city, and yes, you can absolutely be sure there's a pink tutu for every occasion – whether it's a luxurious dinner party or a romantic night at the ballet.
The Pink Tutu Promise:
I may be in the Big Apple, but my aim stays the same: I'm here to inspire everyone, every day to unleash their inner ballerina and twirl with joy, no matter their age or location! You don't need a stage, or a ballet school to feel the magic. You can twirl in the streets, on a New York subway platform, in the office (be careful of those desks, darlings!) - even at home. The only thing you need is the pink tutu spirit! It's all about that sparkle, the whimsy, and a love of everything dance-related - so let your inner tutu-wearing self run wild! Let’s make pink tutus as normal as denim and designer bags! Because you know what? It’s about time!
On the calendar...
Speaking of calendars, what’s on the Monday 2029-12-17th schedule here in the city that never sleeps? Well, the Christmas season in New York is absolutely glorious. Imagine, ice-skating on Rockefeller Center , the towering Christmas tree lit with thousands of twinkling lights, all the sparkling decorations everywhere.
But the thing that really caught my eye is the 'Rockin’ Winter Wonderland' festival! Live music, festival food, and let's not forget that quintessential American festive experience of ice sculpting. I hear there's even a life-size ballet-inspired ice sculpture this year! Who could resist?
Fashion Finds:
This city is such a haven for fashion lovers! My top pick for a tutu-licious dress today has to be this absolutely stunning number from Alice + Olivia. It's black velvet, but with a delicate tulle bow - talk about a tutu-inspired twist!
Now for a bit of Pink Tutu styling advice: when it comes to the festive season in New York, I say go all out! Glitter, feathers, fur, bold colours - the Christmas vibe in New York welcomes it all. And it's no secret that I adore adding a dash of pink to even the most unexpected of outfits. Think about a beautiful pink fur scarf to compliment that classic black dress. Or even just a touch of pink on your shoes, for a pop of colour and whimsy.
Pink Tutu Travels & Adventures:
I've got lots more adventures lined up for this week, including a backstage tour at the Metropolitan Opera House (so excited!), a visit to the Museum of the City of New York to learn more about the history of New York fashion (fashion history – I just can't get enough!), and perhaps a quick stop by Central Park for a bit of festive fun in my pink tutu. (Who doesn’t love a little park twirl under the New York Christmas lights, right?!)
