Pink Tutu Blog - Paris: #6
Bonjour from Paris! Can you believe it? This week, I am writing to you from the City of Lights, having arrived in style via the EuroStar.
Remember how I said my mission is to get everyone in a pink tutu? Well, it seems Paris has some similar ambitions! The Parisian street style is definitely something else. Chic and sophisticated, with a dash of bohemian thrown in for good measure, I feel right at home! Although, it’s not quite as many pink tutus as I would have hoped, so I might just have to add a little touch of Derbyshire flair to this beautiful city… 😉
The Journey: A Whirlwind of Excitement
Let's be honest, every journey starts with packing, right? For a trip like this, it has to be the right blend of Parisian chic and comfy-yet-fabulous. Think floral dresses, wide-brimmed hats, and naturally, a few different tutus to choose from, depending on the occasion! I may have squeezed a bit extra in my luggage for some fabulous Parisian vintage shopping - a girl's gotta have choices, right?
And then there's the EuroStar! All sleek, modern trains and delicious French pastries. Talk about starting the journey in style! For a brief moment, I swear I could even imagine I was in one of those beautifully staged vintage train scenes in the movies, with people sipping on their morning tea. Honestly, travelling by train is one of my favourite ways to see the world, because there’s no frantic rushing through airports, and it allows for the most magnificent views. And of course, the added bonus is that I can actually stand up and stretch in my tutu on the journey, as the space isn't restricted!
A Pink Tutu Moment in Montmartre
My first port of call? Well, naturally, it was Montmartre. A true Parisian fairytale, cobbled streets, cute little cafes and shops - I could have wandered around forever! I felt so inspired by the creativity of the area and couldn't resist purchasing a charming, handmade vintage brooch for my latest pink tutu creation (don't worry, you'll all see the finished product very soon).
You know, there is something about Paris that really awakens the creative spirit! From the way the light dances across the buildings to the buzz of life, everywhere you go it's impossible not to feel energised. I even spent an hour or two soaking in the energy of the artists who are painting portraits on the square - so much talent! Of course, no Parisian excursion would be complete without a croissant and some frothy latte, all consumed whilst watching the world go by from a quaint little cafe with its wrought iron tables and floral arrangements - utter bliss.
Fashion Fiesta in the Marais
Paris and fashion? I'm practically speaking a different language. I'm here to tell you the shopping scene is beyond incredible, from the designer boutiques to the hidden treasures in the Marais. Now, you might be wondering about my fashion choices whilst here… and you're in for a treat! 😉 This past week has seen me channeling a whole new vibe. I opted for a floaty, blush pink midi dress with a dramatic train, paired with a white straw hat. I know, a slightly more demure look for my usual tutu fashion. But, the point was to go with the Parisian flow, and embrace the city's feminine aesthetic. My white ballet pumps and my trusty little pink velvet bag made it my own, and let me tell you, it drew so many compliments! I felt a million miles away from Derbyshire but completely at home in this fabulous city.
The highlight of my shopping trip in the Marais was, without a doubt, discovering a vintage clothing store packed to the rafters with Parisian glamour. I unearthed the most stunning pink sequined evening top (I knew you'd all love it) - so beautiful and delicate, perfect for a Parisian evening. It reminded me of a vintage ballerina costume from a long-forgotten production - perfect for channeling the magic of Parisian nightlife, don’t you think?
Saturday Night Spectacle
Talking about Parisian nights… how can we forget about the entertainment scene? Tonight, I have a very special date with a truly unforgettable show! It’s going to be an extraordinary performance that captures the magic and romance of this beautiful city. The program features some incredible choreography inspired by the great masters of ballet and I’m eagerly anticipating all the grace, passion, and theatricality of the dance. I will, of course, be dressed in a very special tutu for the occasion! It’s a little bit pink, a little bit Parisienne and, well, a lot of sparkles. You can bet that I’ll be documenting the entire night on Instagram, so make sure you’re following me! After all, it’s never enough pink glitter for a pink tutu loving girl!
More Parisian Delights
It's been just a week, and already I've tasted the sweetest Parisian delights! Whether it's the iconic Eiffel Tower shining in the twilight, or sipping delicious espresso at a bustling café on the Champs-Élysées, this city offers endless wonder and charm. The Seine, the Tuileries Gardens, the Louvre… Paris really is a dreamscape. Of course, all the delicious, flaky croissants, patisseries, and fresh baguettes aren’t hurting either.
From Derbyshire to Paris with Love
And for the biggest confession of all? I already miss my Derbyshire home. The friendly faces, the rolling countryside, and my dear dog Sparky (although, I'm sure he's happy I’m enjoying some time away!) I guess it’s just that Derbyshire is where my heart is… at least for now! I do think though that I will be bringing a little piece of Paris back with me - a touch of Parisian chic in my everyday style, maybe a new hat and some irresistible vintage treasures. And most definitely, a whole heap of memories that I’ll carry in my heart forever!
Paris, thank you for reminding me that there's beauty everywhere, for enchanting me with your artistry and charm, for being the perfect canvas for my dreams. I’ll be back soon!
Until then, stay stylish!
