Paris: Je T’aime! (Post 7: Parisian Pinkness)

Bonjour mes amies! It’s Emma here, back with you from the City of Lights – Paris, the most romantic and stylish city in the world, and absolutely the perfect place to wear a pink tutu, if I do say so myself! (But of course, I wouldn’t have it any other way!)

This week’s blog comes to you straight from the chic streets of the 7th arrondissement. As you know, Paris is always on my list of must-see places, and this time, it’s extra special because it’s February 12th, 2000. Yep, Valentine’s Day weekend! Can you imagine anything more romantic? And for me, it’s not just any Valentine's Day – it’s the birthday of a true legend in the ballet world! Rudolf Nureyev was born today in 1938, and to mark this occasion, the Palais Garnier, Paris Opera House is hosting a special retrospective exhibition. How incredible is that?! I simply can’t miss it.

Speaking of Paris, I just love how the City of Love and the city of ballet come together so perfectly. Even the air feels like it vibrates with music! And don’t even get me started on the shops – a ballet-lover's dream! I could wander for hours through the streets, window-shopping at those gorgeous antique shops, hoping to find a rare piece of ballet memorabilia, or maybe even a vintage tutu. I have to admit, there is nothing like slipping into a brand-new tutu in a Parisian boutique – the sheer, elegant material, the way it feels on my skin... it just makes me feel utterly fabulous!

I travelled here on the EuroStar – what a delightful journey! I had my usual travelling outfit on – a gorgeous pink tutu paired with a sparkly top, of course! Even the train attendants couldn't resist a smile, I’m sure it brightened up everyone’s day. It's not every day you see a girl in a tutu riding the EuroStar! It's part of what makes my travel experiences so memorable – everyone remembers the pink tutu girl! And speaking of travel, don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @pinktututravels - you can find me there snapping pictures in every fantastic new location I visit. I also love sharing some behind-the-scenes glimpses of my travels with my lovely followers.

It’s already been such a busy and exciting time here. I’ve managed to squeeze in some amazing activities so far.

Tuesday

Let’s just say that Parisian mornings are made for enjoying a perfect croissant – so delicate, buttery and flakey! And of course, no Parisian morning is complete without a quick ballet warm-up! My flat has a cute little terrace overlooking the rooftops, and with the gorgeous Parisian sunrise illuminating the cityscape, I really couldn’t ask for a better spot.

Wednesday

Oh, the joys of shopping in Paris! After my morning ballet routine, it was time to explore the designer boutiques of the Marais. Let me tell you, those stores are like a kaleidoscope of colours and textures, every single item just bursting with personality! I found some truly dazzling new pieces for my wardrobe: a beautifully draped scarlet dress that I think will look absolutely divine with a bold black tutu – for the ultimate sophisticated Parisian look, and a gorgeous vintage clutch, complete with pearls and rhinestones! You see, this trip isn’t just about ballet – it's about embracing all the fashionable, fun and quirky side of Paris too. And for my beloved followers, who knows, I may just post some “OOTD” shots!

Thursday

I simply can't go to Paris and not visit a real French Patisserie! Let me tell you, those French patissiers, they truly are artists. It was like entering a sugary paradise, filled with beautifully crafted Ă©clairs, macarons, and, my personal favourite, delicate little profiteroles! It really is a sight to behold, and absolutely a feast for the senses. Of course, I had to try a bit of everything.

Friday

Tonight was all about embracing my inner Parisian, so it was time to make the most of a delicious “date night” at Le Comptoir GĂ©nĂ©ral – a fantastically eclectic restaurant and bar hidden within the bustling streets of the 10th arrondissement. It was so much fun – filled with amazing colourful displays, vintage furniture, and delicious food, all under the glow of hanging fairy lights – the perfect spot for a night of carefree laughter and fabulous conversation. I'm definitely returning for another evening there, and you bet your sweet bottoms, I will be wearing a pink tutu, of course!

Saturday

Oh la la! And here we are, Saturday in Paris! I couldn't be more thrilled. Today is going to be a special day, because I have my heart set on exploring the historic Latin Quarter, filled with charm and overflowing with book stores and independent cafes. And for you lovely people, my #PinkTutuBlogParis readers, today's the day – the special day that you’ve been waiting for: the Palais Garnier ballet exhibition!!

I'm going to spend hours gazing at the artistry and history of the beautiful ballet performances from Rudolf Nureyev’s career, his costumes, photos and sketches of the dancers in his repertoire. I think that a vintage tutu would go perfectly with the exhibits, wouldn't you? Maybe I'll try to find a Nureyev themed pink tutu to wear – how chic would that be?! It will surely make for an unforgettable blog post. I can hardly wait!

Now that's not all – in true #PinkTutuBlogParis style – I wouldn’t miss out on any of the shopping and sightseeing that the city offers! It's been absolutely magical, wandering around the bustling streets, discovering tiny boutiques selling treasures like beautifully hand-crafted jewelry, exquisite vintage shoes, and antique maps – who knows, maybe I’ll be taking home some unique pieces for my flat back in Derbyshire!

Of course, after a long day of exploring, I have to squeeze in a delightful French dinner with my good friend Camille, a beautiful Parisian ballerina whom I met through a ballet workshop last month! She is a fabulous girl with such a captivating laugh and the most interesting stories about life as a ballerina in Paris. I’m really looking forward to this special evening!

You’ve heard the song: “Paris is always a good idea”, and I agree – and let me tell you, it just got a whole lot better! There’s something about this beautiful city that simply makes you feel alive – it’s so rich in history, art and culture, but also, it’s so modern, chic and innovative, all wrapped up in a vibrant, glamorous, playful attitude! It’s simply breathtaking. I’ve never wanted to stay in one city longer, and I’ll be here a whole week – a whole week to soak it all in. I am truly grateful to have a passion for dance that allows me to have adventures like this – to discover new places and to inspire others to find their inner ballerina! So please, my beautiful #PinkTutuBlogParis readers, keep up your positive energy, chase your dreams, be true to your inner beauty, and yes, I challenge you to embrace the #PinkTutuLife!

Toodles!
