Pink Tutu Paris: Bonjour from the City of Lights! (Post #73)

Saturday 19th May 2001

Oh, la la! Paris! It's been a dream of mine to visit the City of Lights for as long as I can remember, and here I am, twirling through the cobbled streets in my very own pink tutu, feeling like a princess in a fairytale. This is post number 73 from my Pink Tutu Paris blog, and trust me, there's a lot more to come!

EuroStar Adventures & Tutu Twirls

The journey over on the Eurostar was a whirlwind of excitement. The high-speed train, all gleaming silver and sleek, sped us through the English countryside, before whisking us into the heart of France. I made sure my pink tutu was in full display, of course! Who wouldn't want to be the most glamorous traveller on the train?

I managed to catch a few envious glances from fellow passengers. Some were shyly smiling, some were pointing at my pink fluffiness, and a few even gave me a cheeky thumbs up. My heart did a little pirouette, knowing I was spreading the pink tutu love across the Channel.

Ballet Beginnings

I arrived in Paris just in time to see the incredible Swan Lake at the Palais Garnier Opera House! My goodness, it was truly magnificent. Every detail was a delight: from the grandeur of the opera house itself, with its towering columns and intricate decorations, to the dazzling performances of the dancers. I was enthralled by the delicate artistry of the ballerinas, each graceful movement a testament to their years of dedication. I watched spellbound as the dancers glided across the stage, their tulle tutus shimmering like moonlight on a lake. The entire experience left me in awe, inspiring me to twirl even harder when I got back to my hotel room!

Shopping Spree: Finding the Perfect Pink

Paris, oh Paris, you are truly a fashion haven! A pink-tutu-loving girl could lose herself in the abundance of exquisite shops, and let me tell you, I had a whale of a time doing just that. From the elegant boutiques of the Marais district, to the trendy shops on the Champs-Elysees, every street corner was an explosion of colour and style. I found myself admiring intricate hatboxes, dreaming of delicate lace dresses, and simply reveling in the creative energy that pulses through this city. I also made a couple of very important purchases - a stunning pair of pink ballet shoes that are absolutely perfect with my tutu, and a beautiful scarf, just the right shade of dusky pink to compliment my pinkness.

Discovering Montmartre & Its Quirky Charm

This afternoon, I wandered through the bohemian heart of Paris - the enchanting neighbourhood of Montmartre. I imagined the iconic artists, poets, and dreamers who walked these same cobbled streets, finding inspiration in the picturesque landscape and artistic spirit of the place. The charming Sacré-Cœur Basilica stood proudly atop the hill, overlooking the city with its serene white stone walls and breathtaking views. I sat for hours in the little squares, sketching in my notebook and soaking in the bohemian atmosphere, imagining myself dancing on a stage in a tiny cafe with my pink tutu catching the light of the stage spotlights. And, of course, there were countless beautiful Parisian cafes, where I sampled some of the finest French pastries in the world. Oh, the delights!

Catching a Street Performer's Act

As I was walking back through the bustling streets towards my hotel, a street musician stopped me in my tracks with his soulful music. The music swirled around me, an intoxicating blend of melody and passion that echoed the very heart of Paris itself. It was impossible not to stand still and listen, allowing the melodies to weave their magic, transporting me to another world. I danced along in my pink tutu to the beautiful rhythm of his guitar. It was magical. I am so grateful that the Parisian spirit, a blend of elegance and joie de vivre, found its way into every moment of this wonderful day.

A Farewell, Until Next Week!

Paris, you have captivated my heart with your charm and artistic flair. I am already planning my next visit! I feel like I've only just begun to explore all that this amazing city has to offer. But for now, I am leaving with a heart filled with memories, and a pink tutu filled with Parisian dreams.

Until next week, keep twirling, keep dreaming, and most importantly, keep the pink tutus flowing!

Au revoir!
