#PinkTutuBlogParis: Bonjour from the City of Lights! (Post #116)

Bonjour mes amies!

This Saturday, I'm writing to you from the magical city of Paris! It’s a city that always feels like a dream, filled with so much beauty and romance, and of course, fashion! I arrived this morning by the grand Eurostar, a magnificent train journey, feeling like I was stepping into a fairytale. And I have to say, even the carriages were fabulously stylish!

This is actually my second trip to Paris, you know. I visited last year for a spectacular weekend of ballet and theatre, and let me tell you, it was absolutely heavenly! I spent days swooning over the incredible shows and shopping, feeling like a ballerina in a Parisian dream. And this time? It's even more amazing! This trip is all about exploration, discovering new little corners of the city, and enjoying the truly incredible fashion.

For those who don’t know me, my name is Emma, and I'm a ballet-loving twenty-something who absolutely adores the colour pink and lives for a good twirl. This year, I funded my travels with some of the lovely performances I did back home in Derbyshire. From Swan Lake at the Derby Theatre to Giselle in the quaint village of Bakewell, the applause was enough to buy me an amazing journey to Paris!

As you all know, www.pink-tutu.com is a weekly dose of Parisian sunshine, a splash of ballet, and a healthy dose of pink fluffiness. Every Saturday, I share my experiences with you, from stunning street performances to the breathtaking fashion of the city. My mission is simple: to get the world to twirl! To inspire every single person, whether it be a little girl, a businessman, or even a dog walker, to slip on a pink tutu and embrace the magic of twirling!

Parisian Highlights (2002-03-16):

This week, the sun was shining gloriously in Paris, and I simply had to indulge in a spot of sightseeing! After unpacking my tutu suitcase (yes, I travel with a dedicated tutu suitcase - essential!), I found myself on the bustling Champs-Élysées, enjoying the atmosphere of this iconic Parisian boulevard. The people watching was incredible – from elegant ladies in perfectly tailored suits to students sipping coffee and catching up, there was something fascinating to observe on every corner. I'm dreaming of finding the perfect pink scarf to match my new Parisian outfit, a light-as-air blush pink silk dress with delicate ruffles that wouldn't look out of place in a ballet. I found the most fabulous vintage shop nestled amongst the charming Parisian streets, bursting with lace, feathers and silks that whispered stories of days gone by! I even spotted a darling pink lace hat perfect for a romantic stroll by the Seine.

Speaking of strolling, I simply had to go for a long, meandering walk along the banks of the Seine. Paris along the river feels incredibly enchanting, almost magical. The sun glinting on the water, the soft music drifting from the cafés and the smell of freshly baked croissants, all contributing to the Parisian charm that just draws me in! It felt like a scene straight out of a fairytale - something out of the romantic French ballet stories I love. It made me feel like I was dancing with a handsome Parisian prince. Ah, dreaming!

Later that day, I found myself on the banks of the Seine, at the majestic Louvre. I absolutely adore museums and the historical grandeur of this museum was mesmerising! There’s nothing like standing amongst world-renowned works of art to get the creative juices flowing. As I wandered through the rooms filled with Impressionist masterpieces and ancient sculptures, I felt the urge to create a new dance piece inspired by their beauty and serenity. I have to confess I also bought myself a charming pink ceramic Eiffel Tower to commemorate the occasion, because a Parisian memory is never complete without a souvenir to bring the magic back home!

Later, the city of Paris was alive with music. It wasn’t hard to stumble upon a group of musicians in a square, or to listen to someone strumming a melody by the Seine. Music is just woven into the fabric of the city.

The magic doesn't end with the sunset either. After dinner, we embarked on a spectacular Seine river cruise. I was awed by the Parisian architecture lit up under the starlight, and of course, my pink tutu made me the center of attention, which of course, I never mind! The boat's soft lights, the music playing softly, and the gentle lapping of the river against the side, it was an absolutely perfect ending to a magical day in Paris.

I've still got a couple of days to explore Paris, but it already feels like the beginning of a beautiful ballet! The streets of Paris, like the stages I dance upon, are my own canvas - each corner a story to unfold.

I'd love to know what your favourite pink outfits are! Tell me all about them in the comments section below!

And be sure to visit www.pink-tutu.com next Saturday for another blog post from Paris.

Until then, happy twirling,

Emma
