Paris: Bonjour from the City of Lights! (Post #131)

Saturday 29th June, 2002

Bonjour, darlings! I'm so excited to be writing to you from Paris! This glorious city is a whirlwind of romance, culture, and most importantly, pink! (Just wait until you see the Parisian tutus!) I whisked myself away via the Eurostar, feeling utterly glamorous as the sleek train sliced through the countryside. Yes, I travelled in a pink tutu, of course, and let me tell you, even the train staff couldn't help but smile. They seemed utterly charmed! The journey was like a scene from a ballet; it whizzed by in a flurry of vibrant greens, glistening fields, and, naturally, lots and lots of pink.

This weekend, I'm indulging in all things Parisian. The City of Lights is utterly breathtaking; the architecture, the people, the atmosphere... It's all so wonderfully enchanting! My trusty journal is already filled with sketches of ornate buildings and a couple of cheeky Parisians looking exceptionally dapper in their own version of ballet street wear (they had the pink on point!). I'll tell you more about them later, but it’s just further evidence of my mission to inspire the world to twirl into pink!

Speaking of which, a fellow ballerina-blogger told me about a rather exquisite show tonight: Le Lac des Cygnes (Swan Lake)! I cannot wait. My new Parisian ballet flats (bought from a pink boutique in Montmartre) will look absolutely delightful with this divine tulle tutu (more pink!). And who knows, I might even manage a pirouette or two if I’m feeling daring enough.

Of course, I'm keeping a close eye on my bank balance; a tutu-loving girl needs her champagne and croissants, darling! However, I'm managing to stay in budget with the funds from my latest performance. You see, my next tour is taking me to Derbyshire (England, not Paris, silly!) where my hometown ballet group has asked me to star in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," as Puck! Pink wings? Oh, absolutely! This show is going to be absolutely splendid. But back to Paris for now!

Day 1 Highlights:

  • Pink Parlour in the Marais - Oh, I do love a good dose of girly sweetness, and this tearoom is pure Parisian dream. Pink floral teacups, delicate pink macarons (that weren't just pink on the outside but even tasted pink!), and, of course, pink tea. Heaven!
  • Montmartre's Charm - Climbing to the top of Sacré-Coeur for a view of the whole city (with a couple of sneaky paparazzi shots of myself, natch!), felt like being part of a painting. The bohemian vibes, the quirky shops (did you know there’s an entire store dedicated to feather boas? Pure bliss!), and the street performers; the pink tutus in my imagination, I’ll be sure to have them for next time!

Coming up tomorrow: I'll be exploring the legendary Palais Garnier, the heart of the Parisian opera world. Imagine all the dazzling costumes and the most magnificent ballet sets! Plus, you simply must see the pictures I'm taking in the gardens behind the Musée d'Orsay. They’re absolutely blooming in pink right now, a truly delightful sight!

I can't wait to share more of my adventures with you! Be sure to visit www.pink-tutu.com next Saturday for the latest installment. Au revoir, darlings! Until next time...

Love, Emma

(And remember, *pink is always the answer!)*
