Pink Tutu Blog Paris #138: A Parisian Whirlwind!

Bonjour, mes chérie! Emma here, ready to share another Parisian escapade from your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger! It's Saturday, 17th August 2002, and I'm just bursting with excitement after a whirlwind day of Parisian adventures!

This week, the Eurostar whisked me off to the City of Lights for another enchanting Parisian experience. You know I love the train journeys; there’s something about the rhythm of the tracks that just gets my creative juices flowing, and this time I managed to whip up a brand-new ballet sequence inspired by the French countryside zipping by.

Once I arrived at Gare du Nord, a wave of pure joy swept over me! Paris is just a city of dreams! And this time, I decided to ditch the traditional cab and opted for a romantic horse-drawn carriage instead! (Did you know they have this option at the Gare du Nord?! I practically squealed!)

First on the agenda was a trip to the Grand Palais. This gorgeous building, a palace of glass and steel, is the ultimate fashion destination! I just had to peek at the Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2003 collection that was showcasing there. Let me tell you, it was absolute perfection! Gorgeous gowns in ethereal fabrics, daringly structured pieces, and colours so rich they seemed to shimmer in the Parisian sunlight. I was practically entranced, especially by a coral-hued gown with a flowing skirt and an enormous ruffled peplum, it had my heart singing!

But shopping can wait, you see! It’s Paris! I simply had to indulge in the theatre, and what better show to see than "The Nutcracker" at the Opéra Garnier! The grand auditorium, with its plush velvet seating and glittering chandeliers, transported me back to another era. I could feel the energy of generations of dancers and patrons pulsing through the theatre, and my own heart was ready to dance! The performance itself was divine; every twist and twirl of the ballerinas filled me with awe and inspiration. I especially loved the Sugar Plum Fairy’s costume, an explosion of tulle and jewels, it practically sparkled!

Speaking of sparkle, after the show I found the most exquisite pair of diamante earrings in the Marais, a Parisian district I'm head-over-heels in love with. And did I mention they were pink?! Of course! What could be more perfect than dazzling diamond earrings that matched my beloved tutu?!

Before heading back to my charming hotel, (can you believe it was right by the Seine? A Parisian dream!), I found the perfect spot to sit and soak up the magic of this city. I settled on a bench in the Tuileries Garden, surrounded by majestic trees and statues, and watched as Parisians of all ages danced in the setting sun. It's a sight I'll never forget!

Paris is a whirlwind of creativity and passion! And there's nothing more inspiring than the energy of this city to remind me why I’m devoted to my dance and why I work so hard to share the joy of tutus with the world. Remember, you don't need a reason to wear a pink tutu! Just do it! It will make you happy, I promise!

So, as the evening settled and the last twinkle of Parisian lights twinkled into the night, I was back in my little hotel room, twirling my tutu and daydreaming of my next Parisian adventure!

Until next Saturday, when I’ll be sharing more stories about this wonderful city! Bisous, from Paris,

Emma xx
