#PinkTutuBlogParis - Saturday 2003-03-22: Ooh la la, Paris!
Post number 169: My Parisian Ballet Adventures!
Bonjour, mes chères lectrices! Welcome back to the www.pink-tutu.com blog! As usual, I'm penning this post from a Parisian café, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and buttery croissants filling the air. The sunshine is dancing through the windows, painting the room with warm light - it's a truly magical morning.
Today marks my third day in Paris! I journeyed here on the EuroStar from London on Thursday, which, I must admit, is always a little nerve-wracking for me. All those tunnels and the feeling of speed, even the plush seating and endless cups of tea can't quite calm my anxieties. But, oh my goodness, it was worth it! Paris never fails to enchant me.
My trip is being funded by the generosity of those lovely people who've come to watch me dance in a series of charity events. (If you ever want to hire me to perform, by the way, do get in touch! My website is bursting with videos of my past performances!). It’s so lovely to know that the grace of ballet can fund my wanderlust! This allows me to fulfil my dream of living life to the fullest and exploring every nook and cranny of our beautiful world!
I absolutely love discovering all the wonderful things Paris has to offer. As you know, I'm a HUGE fan of ballet, and I just adore taking classes in all the lovely dance studios across the city. It feels divine to pirouette in these studios.
Last night, I went to see a performance by the Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris at the Palais Garnier. Oh. My. Goodness. It was absolutely incredible. Imagine, sitting in a lavishly decorated theatre, the velvet plush seating enveloping you as you watch world-class ballerinas take flight across the stage! They were absolutely mesmerising, it was breathtaking! The choreography was so exquisite, I think I’ve watched the last half of Act II on a continuous loop five times already!
This morning I treated myself to some hot chocolate and some pastries from a tiny local patisserie tucked away down a cobbled street. Just as I sat down to indulge, guess who I saw walking by? That's right! Mr. Jean-Claude Pierre, one of Paris' most famous designers! You could barely make out his face behind those gorgeous, oversized spectacles, but his signature pink fedora gave him away instantly. I felt my heart skipping a beat - I absolutely adore his fashion - all his clothes are so whimsical and stylish. And, naturally, his designs feature the most amazing colours. My eyes immediately landed on a luscious shade of candy pink which is practically begging me to create a tutu. I’ll just have to see what lovely new outfits this lovely gentleman creates.
Speaking of tutus... oh my goodness, let’s talk shopping! Paris is like a dream come true for a fashionista like myself! Every shop window is bursting with elegance, creativity, and exquisite fabrics. I found myself practically swooning over the display in a little boutique, I literally had to force myself away from a beautiful pink lace gown.
After the madness of yesterday, I think I need to take some time out today to just relax and indulge in my passion for beauty. Later I am thinking of going for a walk in the Tuileries Garden to try and capture some gorgeous shots of the roses and to admire the sculptures. This will help me gain inspiration for some new outfit ideas! I’m a bit partial to the neo-classical style, it truly speaks to my inner ballerina! You’ll be the first to see what ideas I conjure up on the blog tomorrow!
Remember, darling, to always believe in the magic of a pink tutu, and to never be afraid to express yourself! Life’s a bit too short to wear beige!
Au revoir for now, and I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Love,
Emma
