#PinkTutuBlogParis - Saturday 2003-03-15: Bonjour from the City of Lights! 💖

Well hello lovelies! It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the magical city of Paris! This week's #PinkTutuBlogParis post is all about exploring the cobblestone streets, soaking up the Parisian atmosphere, and of course, enjoying the fashion, ballet and a dash of pink!

This week's adventures started with a chic, comfortable journey on the EuroStar. It's the most perfect way to travel, isn't it? The journey is smooth and the views of the English countryside are beautiful, especially as I looked out for signs of spring blossoming. As the train journey unfolded, I felt a delightful buzz, anticipation building in my tummy.

Arriving at Gare du Nord, I was immediately captivated by the energy of Paris. The station itself is a marvel - I felt like I’d stepped into a fairytale! The ornate ceilings, grand archways, and charming Parisian crowds create such a unique ambiance.

I'd booked a cute little hotel near the Palais Garnier, a beautifully-maintained neo-baroque building, with an old-world charm. Its stunning exterior – with its gold statues, grand steps and soaring arches - is quite breathtaking, I tell you. I couldn't resist posing for a photo in my pink tutu and ballet shoes, the building providing the perfect backdrop. It felt like I had stepped into a classic ballet movie!

After unpacking, my pink tulle tutu was calling! I couldn’t resist slipping it on before venturing out into the city. I can’t explain why, but my Parisian adventures just feel right in my tutu. Perhaps it’s because it's light and flowy and twirls just right to the rhythms of the city, or perhaps it’s the sheer joy it evokes - for me and for those who see me.

First stop? The most famous department store in the world! Galeries Lafayette! You just can’t leave Paris without a little indulgence in its fantastic shopping. I mean, shopping in a beautifully designed department store in a classic French city? Pure perfection!

The department store itself is magnificent. I loved its opulent Art Nouveau design and that giant, beautiful glass-domed ceiling, casting colourful dappled light onto the shoppers below. My shopping instincts kicked into overdrive, naturally, and I emerged with a few cute outfits - a navy blue and white striped Breton top for my walks around Paris, and a vintage beret. I'm going to be channeling that effortlessly chic French style!

Today's #PinkTutuLook:

Today's outfit was a playful combination of femininity and practicality. My go-to ballet leotard (a deep berry shade), a delicate silk pink tutu with a shimmering silver overlay, and some ballet-inspired pumps - the perfect blend of ballerina-meets-streetwear. The whole look was tied together with a whimsical floral headband and a touch of pink blush - my signature touch!

The Paris ballet scene:

Being in the city of ballet is truly inspiring. Even the street performers here elevate street dancing to another level. This morning, I wandered past a talented young artist near the Louvre, performing contemporary ballet, and even though he was on a tiny patch of street pavement, his artistry resonated. You’d never have believed it was a ‘busking’ act, it was almost ethereal!

There’s a sense that everyone appreciates the dance in Paris, and it adds a beautiful artistic dimension to the whole experience. I love how it blends with everything else - the cafes, the shops, the Parisian attitude. You can feel the art thrumming through the air. The streets come alive, almost as if a ballet was going on around me!

Later, this evening, I’m going to the Paris Opéra to see a show at the Opéra Bastille - La Bohème. I’m super excited as it’s a beautiful ballet and such a classical story - young love and loss. This production stars some famous ballerinas I've watched with awe, so it's really special!

This evening, I plan to dress in a more elegant style - think a sophisticated and classy black tulle tutu, with subtle layers and sparkle, and a beautiful velvet bolero jacket. I’ve always found that even when attending the opera, you can still be a ballet girl at heart!

The journey so far has been simply delightful! Paris is captivating, vibrant and buzzing with life! It has stolen my heart, and I have so much more to discover here. I promise to share all my experiences with you here, so come back next Saturday for another update on the adventures of your favourite pink tutu ballerina! Don’t forget to share your favourite Paris memories and fashion tips! Until then, keep twirling, lovelies! 💕

P.S.

Did you know, today is World Sleep Day?! I plan on taking a little ‘siesta’ in the sunshine, on a comfy Parisian bench after today’s shopping. Paris just demands to be explored at a slow, gentle pace, and nothing beats a little rest to allow the beauty and excitement of Paris to sink in properly!
