Pink Tutu Paris - Post #171: Bonjour, Beautiful Paris!
Saturday, 5th April, 2003
Bonjour from the City of Lights! I've just hopped off the EuroStar, my tutu swishing as I skipped through Gare du Nord, and landed right in the heart of Parisian charm. It feels like I’m finally home, if you can call a city you’ve only visited once before home! It's so exciting to be here for a whole week, and to share all my adventures with you, dear readers.
Paris always brings out my inner princess, and this time it feels extra special, as I've planned this trip to celebrate my latest success - a smashing performance in Derbyshire that's allowed me to indulge in this little bit of Parisian bliss!
This week I’m going to be dancing through the cobbled streets, twirling past the Eiffel Tower, and indulging in the most beautiful pastries and frocks imaginable! It's a chance to soak up all the beauty Paris has to offer and hopefully, bring back some inspiration to Derbyshire, my little corner of the world.
Day One: The Bonjour Ballet
Right off the bat, I’m taking you on a trip with me to the Palais Garnier! My tutu practically burst into a flurry of excited twirls as we walked into this iconic, glorious theatre. Imagine, ladies, gilded balconies, marble pillars, and the most incredible chandelier sparkling overhead, all set for a truly stunning performance. And the ballet! I don’t want to spoil the details, but suffice it to say that it was everything I dreamed of - powerful leaps, elegant movements, and costumes so stunning, they almost took my breath away.
A Pink Paradise on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré
No Parisian escapade is complete without a little retail therapy, and so off I went with my fellow Tutu Tribe to Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, where we found a truly fabulous pink boutique, ‘La Petite Rosette’. Everything was perfect: shades of pink from blushing peach to rose-quartz, from ruffled skirts to sparkling sequinned blouses. It was a truly pink-tastic haven for the ballerina in all of us!
Of course, I couldn’t resist treating myself to a new pink tutu - this one adorned with exquisite embroidered flowers, each petal a tiny pink masterpiece. I know I'll be turning heads back in Derbyshire with this new addition to my wardrobe!
Evening Under the Stars
My day ended in the most magical way imaginable. We took a lovely little horse-drawn carriage ride through the Champs-Elysees. I have to tell you, there is something so romantic and charming about cruising along the beautiful avenue, watching the Eiffel Tower gleam in the twilight. I felt like I'd stepped into one of those fairytale films. And wouldn't you know it, a few friendly gentlemen on the street actually did request that I do a little ballet performance right there on the Champs-Elysees. I mean, who could say no to a bit of impromptu fun in Paris? Let's just say a few tutus twirled beneath the glittering city lights and everyone enjoyed a happy ending.
Stay tuned for more Parisian Adventures, ladies! Next week I'll be exploring the Louvre, hitting the hottest cafes, and maybe even attempting to take on the French fashion scene. After all, it’s not Paris without a touch of style!
In the meantime, have a look at my beautiful new pink tutu in my blog post photos - what do you think? I'm dying to know your thoughts on it!
Until next Saturday, stay chic and keep twirling,
Emma www.pink-tutu.com
