Paris, Oh Paris! - #PinkTutuBlogParis - Post #174 - Saturday 2003-04-26

Bonjour mes amis! Emma here, reporting live from the City of Lights! It's Saturday morning, the sun is shining, and Paris is just as beautiful as I imagined it. I'm sitting in a cute cafe overlooking the Seine, sipping my coffee and plotting out my day - which, naturally, involves a lot of pink, tutus, and Parisian adventures.

It’s the most wonderful thing, gliding across the English Channel in my favourite pink tulle train, erm, I mean, arriving by Eurostar, to be greeted by the sights and sounds of this iconic city! Last week I took you on a trip down the canal in my pink tutu - a classic! But this week it’s Paris. I love seeing Paris bloom in the spring, all those delicate lilacs and soft pinks - like my tutu! Of course, I always pack a few new pink frocks for Paris. What girl doesn't love Parisian fashion? And I can't go anywhere without at least one tutu, it wouldn’t be the #PinkTutuBlogParis without one!

I took the plunge into Paris for the weekend after performing with my troupe at the local theatre back home in Derbyshire. Oh, the irony of wearing my ballet shoes under a long, flowing skirt for the train ride - a truly modern dance interpretation of travel fashion!

The performance had gone so well, everyone seemed to enjoy the show, so we had an amazing donation afterwards - a massive donation - which gave me just enough to splash out on my Paris trip. Thank you everyone! This means my dreams can truly take flight!

And where else should I go but Paris, the home of some of the greatest ballerinas? Marie Camargo, the epitome of Parisian fashion and beauty - her tutus, just like mine! Well, they say I have the Parisian grace. I've certainly tried my best! Today I’m hoping to find a vintage pink tutu for a very special someone – I haven’t revealed who it is yet - but this is an anniversary present for someone truly special. winks I found some stunning pink dresses last night in the chic boutiques just around the corner from the apartment I found!

Speaking of my apartment! I found a sweet little apartment tucked away on a quiet, cobbled street in the heart of Le Marais. It's a little bijou, but it's charming, has all the character of a Parisien flat - like an old school Parisian movie!

I must tell you, I'm finding a new kind of ballet right here in Paris - "ballet street", it's what the locals call it - it's where street performers gather and do a mixture of classical ballet and street dance - it’s stunning and truly theatrical - in fact, there's a ballet show I'm dying to see, and I've already bought tickets for tonight. It's a rendition of Swan Lake by the prestigious Paris Opera Ballet company. How magical is that! Just the thought of it puts a skip in my step.

So, today is all about the famous attractions, the things you simply have to do in Paris - and it is already buzzing with activity and there are so many wonderful sights to see, from the iconic Eiffel Tower to the stunning Louvre Museum.

For my first Parisian experience, we can’t ignore a visit to the Eiffel Tower. It’s like climbing up to heaven on the stairs – quite an experience. And I mean, the views
oh the views! My Instagram feed is about to get so much more amazing! It feels like you could see the whole of France! My tutu got quite a bit of attention – it always does - especially in this romantic city of love.

Later on, after I have my photoshoot by the tower, I will wander over to the Champs-ÉlysĂ©es. Oh my! I heard it's an experience not to be missed, filled with the beautiful luxury shops of Paris! And a spot of lunch of course, with an indulgent cafe crĂšme! It is Paris after all, what is a French trip without enjoying a few patisseries and baguettes? The coffee in Paris is truly divine – it makes your afternoon feel like it’s been designed just for you – like I’ve been transported to an artistic movie.

One thing’s for sure - Paris is alive with creativity, every corner, every cafe, every cobblestone street feels like the opening scene of a romantic movie! In fact, I was watching a charming street performance in the Jardin du Luxembourg when a talented busker serenaded me with a sweet tune – like a scene from “The Holiday”! You know what? I think I might get back to my apartment early today - and I might just take up a new Parisian habit – knitting or cross-stitching, maybe painting or taking photos – like every stylish Parisien! Maybe I could design a few outfits for my ballet performances, or design some stunning accessories like a pair of matching pink ballet shoes, pink ballet pumps, or a chic ballet inspired hat and glove combo for those cold autumn nights. I bet you anything - it would be a huge success.

I will be spending the rest of the day admiring the architecture, maybe visiting a museum - perhaps The MusĂ©e d'Orsay with its stunning collection of Impressionist art. Imagine walking around with my pink tutu in this famous art gallery - it would certainly create a few memorable moments - or maybe The MusĂ©e Rodin to take in a dose of Rodin’s inspiring sculptures.

Or perhaps, like all those Parisian girls, I’ll simply wander through the streets of Saint Germain, letting the atmosphere carry me along, enjoying the scent of coffee, freshly baked bread, and perhaps a bit of sweet, floral perfume – my favourite scent for a Paris visit! But before I can dream up my perfect Parisian outfit – perhaps a little tweed skirt and a pretty knitted sweater? Or maybe a little chic black dress - you know what – a little pink tutu with an elegant, black jacket - I think I might wear that! My outfit should include some fabulous high heels or a new pair of elegant boots - I think my vintage pink Chanel bag with the silver chains will be just the right touch for this sophisticated ensemble! The possibilities are truly endless. And you know me - my favourite thing is matching pink items with outfits, the brighter the pink the better - that’s my motto for every occasion!

So, there it is! My packed Saturday full of adventures. Don’t forget to check back next Saturday, and we can explore Paris, in all it’s glamorous pink splendour together!

Until next week,

*Emma *
