Pink Tutu Blog: Paris - Post 198 - Saturday 10th October 2003

Bonjour mes amis! This week, the Pink Tutu Blog has touched down in the City of Lights! It feels utterly divine to be here, nestled amongst the cobbled streets, with the aroma of freshly baked croissants filling the air, and the whisper of the Seine gliding past, just beyond the café terraces. My journey on the EuroStar was a pure dream. I settled into a plush, velvet-lined compartment, feeling like I was about to embark on an enchanting adventure straight out of a ballet. My pink tulle tutu flowed elegantly around my legs, attracting glances of admiration (and perhaps some bemusement!) from fellow travellers. The scenery just whizzed past - a kaleidoscope of green fields and charming villages – leaving me with a blissful sense of escapism.

As soon as I arrived in Gare du Nord, I couldn’t help but feel a burst of pure, pink joy. Everything felt so chic and so very Paris! I was giddy with excitement to dive headfirst into this romantic city.

The past week has been a whirlwind of wonder, full of cobblestone promenades, impromptu ballet performances in the heart of Montmartre, and of course, a hefty dose of Parisian shopping! (More about that later.)

My heart was truly stolen by the Ballet de l'Opéra National de Paris on Tuesday night. Oh my, the costumes, the music, the artistry - just incredible! I watched mesmerised as dancers, their movements both graceful and powerful, effortlessly soared across the stage. It was the kind of ballet performance that made your soul sing and your heart soar. I even felt the urge to twirl right there in the audience (but luckily, resisted the temptation, knowing how much of a spectacle I might have made! ).

For all of you ballet enthusiasts, keep your eyes peeled, because in a few weeks' time, I'm venturing to the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow! It’s an absolute dream to dance around this city – the history, the architecture, the passionate souls… Can't wait!

Of course, Paris wouldn’t be complete without a shopping spree. From the sleek boutiques on Avenue Montaigne to the charming little shops hidden away in the Latin Quarter, I was in absolute shopping heaven. You'll just have to wait until my next post to see my new acquisitions!

For now, let me share a little slice of my Parisian adventures with you, captured in this week's photographs. I'm starting with my favourite spot - a delightful little café in the Marais, tucked away on a street where you’d easily miss it. I adore its vintage charm and bohemian vibe, a place that exudes the true essence of Parisian life.

What to do on October 11th

As I'm writing this on Saturday the 11th, the streets of Paris are buzzing with an exciting atmosphere. There’s a palpable sense of joy and artistic energy! The "Festival of Arts" is kicking off, with performances scattered across the city. It's a great chance to see street performers, listen to live music, and soak in the unique cultural flair that makes Paris so alive.

If you find yourself in the Marais district today, I highly recommend a visit to Place des Vosges, a gorgeous, tree-lined square. I love taking a leisurely stroll there, just watching the world go by. It’s also the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic basket (be sure to grab some delicious cheese and fresh baguette!).

*I hope you’ve enjoyed this peek into my Parisian adventure! *

Keep dancing, my dears!

Love,

Emma xoxo
