Paris, Ooh la la! Post #219 - Pink Tutu Adventures in the City of Lights

Bonjour, darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad blogger, Emma, reporting live from the City of Lights itself – Paris! This weekend, I swapped my Derbyshire fields for the cobbled streets of the French capital, arriving in style aboard the EuroStar, my tulle fluttering with every jolt of the train.

Oh, darling, Paris! It's like stepping into a fairytale. Everywhere you look, there's history, art, romance, and let's not forget - fashion! I swear, the chic Parisians make the most of a simple baguette and a coffee – I feel I must try!

This trip is a well-deserved break after a whirlwind few weeks of performances. You know how it is - fundraising for the next adventure means some serious tutuing! This week, I've been enjoying the spoils of my hard work, a bit of a ballerina's paradise. Imagine my delight, darlings, at discovering that on 6th March 2004, the city was bustling with special events! Let me tell you all about it:

Day 1: Bonjour, Paris!

As I disembarked the Eurostar, I practically gasped at the sight of the Eiffel Tower. Yes, it was as iconic as the postcards promised! After a whirlwind check-in at my hotel - oh, it was tres elegant! - I started my Parisian escapade by grabbing a divine cuppa from a cute cafe overlooking the Seine. Paris, even your tea has that je ne sais quoi, darling!

Then it was off to explore the historic heart of the city. I had my trusty tutu, of course, a bright pink with silver glitter to make an entrance! I danced down the Champs-Élysées feeling a total Parisian queen, stopping to admire the street performers and indulge in a bit of people-watching.

Evening Delight: Ballet at the Opéra Garnier

You can imagine my excitement when I discovered that on Saturday, 6th March, the Opéra Garnier was showcasing the legendary Giselle. I'd dreamed of seeing it for ages, and to experience it in such a beautiful theatre - well, it was pure magic.

Imagine: a grand chandelier sparkling, velvet seats, and a stage overflowing with such breathtaking artistry. It was a reminder of the beauty and elegance of classical ballet, which simply never fails to take my breath away.

Fashion Frenzy! A Chic Shopping Spree

No trip to Paris is complete without some serious retail therapy! After a scrumptious breakfast at my favourite cafe (fresh croissants - oh my!), I hit the famous department stores. I picked up some stylish French pieces that are already making their debut in my wardrobe - you just have to stay tuned for the latest looks, darlings!

Art and Architecture: Louvre Marvels

It wasn’t just the fashion scene that made my heart sing; art and architecture stole the show as well! I took in a grand afternoon tour of the Louvre Museum, my gaze lost in the historical beauty of Mona Lisa, the sheer scale of the Winged Victory of Samothrace, and all the hidden treasures between. It was a day dedicated to the artistic spirit, a truly immersive experience!

Pink Tutu Charm in Paris

Wherever I went, I made sure my pink tutu brought a touch of sparkle to Paris. It turns out that even the locals can’t resist a good bit of tulle. I found myself having a little ballet chat with some children at the Jardin du Luxembourg, and even received a "bravo" from a street artist while I practised my pliés under the Eiffel Tower!

Food, Glorious Food! A Parisian Feast

You know I love a good meal, and Paris certainly doesn’t disappoint. From elegant bistros to quaint cafes, the city's culinary scene was pure delight! One of my favourite discoveries was a hidden bakery on a cobbled side street. Imagine my delight, darlings, to find their macarons were the most divine blend of sweetness and delicacy I’d ever encountered!

And don't forget, it was all washed down with a perfectly poured French wine, with each sip as magical as the city itself.

A Tutu-full Night: Parisian Elegance Under the Stars

Saturday night in Paris was something special. The City of Lights shone bright as I twirled under the moonlit sky in my trusty pink tutu, the elegant buildings and the twinkling lights around me like a ballet set come to life!

After all this wandering, it was time for a relaxing dinner at one of those charming bistros - I recommend you look for those with red checkered tablecloths! - followed by a breathtaking stroll through the charming streets of Montmartre. I couldn’t resist topping the day off with a spot of Parisian ballet practice - with the Eiffel Tower as my personal audience!

My Pink Tutu Takeaway

Paris, my dear, has a special place in my heart. It's a city that truly captures the magic of dance, fashion, art and love, all woven together in a captivating symphony! I'm already planning my next visit!

Now, remember, darlings, the world's a stage and your pink tutu is your spotlight. Wear it loud and proud.
