Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #240: Bonjour from the City of Lights!
Saturday, 31st July 2004
Oh, mon chéri, what a week it's been! From the cobbled streets of Derbyshire to the glittering boulevards of Paris, I've embarked on another magical adventure. The EuroStar zipped me through the Channel Tunnel in a whirlwind of excitement, and before I knew it, I was stepping onto the Parisian platform, feeling like a fairytale princess in my hot pink tulle tutu.
Paris, you enchant me! This city is a canvas of vibrant colours, echoing with laughter and romance. The air is thick with the smell of freshly baked croissants and the intoxicating fragrance of blooming lilacs. I can't help but smile every time I look up at the iconic Eiffel Tower, a symbol of love and beauty that touches the sky with grace.
This week has been a whirl of pink tutus, theatrical adventures, and indulgent Parisian shopping sprees. And wouldn't you know it, my latest performance with the Derbyshire Dance Company helped fund this dream trip! You see, my life is all about combining passion and practicality. I dance my heart out on stage, and the applause of the audience fuels my travels and fuels my pink-tutu fuelled adventures!
Speaking of adventures, have you heard about the dazzling Moulin Rouge? Imagine a spectacular kaleidoscope of red and gold, glittering costumes, can-can dancers kicking up a storm, and a performance that leaves you breathless! This iconic venue is simply divine. My feet haven't stopped tapping since! I wore my favourite plum coloured tulle tutu, feeling like a modern-day Parisian artist, and let me tell you, Paris truly does inspire creativity!
Now, darling, you can't talk about Paris without mentioning the glorious fashion scene! The chic Parisian boutiques are bursting with stylish treasures, from delicate lace dresses and statement hats to bold, bright accessories and everything in between. Let's just say, my shopping bag is looking decidedly plump with some sensational finds that I'm already dreaming of styling.
There was one boutique in particular, on a street lined with beautiful vintage bookstores, that captured my heart. The walls were a kaleidoscope of colours and textures, with rows of cascading pink tutus and shimmering sequins. They even had a hand-stitched lavender tutu with silk flowers, perfect for my upcoming trip to the countryside. My eyes glittered with delight!
It’s been such a joy to wander through the cobbled streets of the Marais district, admire the enchanting architecture of the Sacré-Cœur basilica, and feel the warmth of the Parisian sun on my skin. Even finding my way around the Metro feels like a Parisian adventure, and let me tell you, it’s definitely a good idea to get a trusty foldaway map before venturing into the maze of underground lines!
But the best part about visiting Paris is its breathtaking beauty at every turn. Even the simple act of sipping a cafe au lait while people-watching at a charming outdoor cafe feels like a glamorous movie moment. Just imagine - a ballerina in a pink tutu, admiring the Parisian world around her! It’s almost too much to handle!
And, as always, my camera has been my constant companion, capturing every romantic detail, from the soft pastel facades of Parisian houses to the charming window displays that seem to whisper stories of elegance and joie de vivre. I'll share more photos on the blog soon, promise!
I am already counting down the days until my next Parisian escapade. I can’t wait to continue discovering new corners of this city and its rich tapestry of art, history, and culture. I may just find inspiration for a new dance performance as well - it’s all about spreading the joy of ballet and pink tutus, of course!
Until next Saturday, my loves, au revoir from Paris, and stay tuned for more pink-tutu-filled adventures!
Yours truly,
Emma

P.S. Did you know it's the anniversary of the Bastille Day revolution in France today? A date that signifies freedom and change. It definitely feels like a day for celebration in Paris! Perhaps we can all be revolutionaries by embracing pink tutus for a bolder, more vibrant world. Don't you think?
