#PinkTutuBlogParis - Post 249: Bonjour from the City of Lights!

Saturday 2004-10-02

Darling readers, I'm back with another post from Paris, the city of my dreams! After a whirlwind journey on the EuroStar, it's finally time to immerse myself in all that Paris has to offer. This weekend is bursting with pink tutu possibilities, from the glamour of the ballet to the enchanting allure of the Parisian streets.

As you all know, I always fund my travels through the magic of ballet. The past month was a flurry of rehearsals and performances in Derbyshire. It's been a bit of a whirlwind, but it feels so wonderful to finally be back in Paris, especially after such a busy time!

As I stepped onto the platform at Gare du Nord, I felt a familiar feeling of pure joy. This city always brings out the ballerina in me! I grabbed my favourite pink tote bag (naturally), brimming with tutu essentials, and I was off!

My First Day in Paris:

I couldn't wait to explore. There's something truly special about the Parisian air, the way the cobblestone streets seem to whisper secrets, and the iconic sights, like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, make you feel like you're in a dream.

I had booked a little Parisian apartment near the Seine - such a dream! My first mission? Shopping! This city is a sartorial paradise, with so many incredible shops and boutiques. I found the most beautiful little shop tucked away in a back street near the Palais Garnier, and guess what? It was overflowing with gorgeous pink tutus! I just couldn't resist buying a new one for the weekend. It’s a light pink tulle number with exquisite lace details - it’s almost like it’s begging to be twirled under the Eiffel Tower!

Ballet Under the Paris Skies:

The highlight of the evening was definitely a performance at the Opéra Garnier. It's truly a spectacle - from the ornate interiors to the sheer talent on stage. The ballet was "Swan Lake", and I felt my heart soar as the prima ballerina's elegant movements painted the stage with her grace. There were even little dancers from the ballet school performing - so incredibly talented, and I could imagine them all wearing their own beautiful tutus someday!

Afterwards, I found myself strolling along the Seine. The moon was high in the sky, reflecting off the rippling water, creating the most magical scene. I twirled under the Eiffel Tower in my pink tutu, and felt so inspired by the beauty around me.

Parisian Treasures:

Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without indulging in all its culinary delights. I treated myself to some delicious crêpes at a little stall along the Seine. And the chocolate? Oh, the chocolate! It melts in your mouth like a dream. I’ve discovered a charming little chocolate shop near the Louvre – a true Parisian haven! I can't wait to tell you all about it!

A Pink Tutu Wish:

And, my darlings, remember my ultimate goal? To get everyone wearing a pink tutu! Today, I saw a young girl watching me twirl in the square near the Seine, her eyes wide with awe. I caught her smiling at me, and I can only imagine she was dreaming of being a ballerina herself, with her own special tutu! My hope is that, just like me, one day, everyone will wear a pink tutu with confidence and joy, whether on stage, on a cobbled street, or in their very own lives!

Until next Saturday, I'll be living my Parisian dreams and sharing it all with you!

Yours in pink, Emma.
