#PinkTutuBlogParis - Post 276: A Pink Tutu in the City of Lights

Bonjour, mes chéries!

It's Emma here, your pink tutu-wearing ballerina, reporting live from the City of Lights – Paris! This week has been a whirlwind of ballet, beautiful clothes, and breathtaking architecture. But before I dive into all the fabulous details, let's get the formalities out of the way:

The Journey

I journeyed to Paris from my quaint Derbyshire home, on the glamorous Eurostar, naturally. I wouldn't dare consider a plane, those things just don't quite fit the ballerina vibe, do they? 😉 The train ride is an adventure in itself; gliding through the English countryside and then hurtling into the Parisian landscape – the sense of anticipation just bubbles over. The second you step off the train into Gare du Nord, the atmosphere is electric!

A Pink Tutu In The City of Lights

The first thing that struck me when I arrived was just how Parisian the Parisians looked! All sleek and stylish in chic monochrome outfits, except, of course, me, a glorious splash of pink tutu against the Parisian backdrop. And guess what? They just loved it! From the charming ladies sipping coffee at sidewalk cafés, to the fashionably dressed gentlemen, a little wave, a smile, and an “Ooh, la la!” came my way – it’s all about spreading the pink tutu love, right?

A Week in Pink Tutu-Land:

  • *Friday: * Arriving in Paris is always magical. After checking into a lovely little boutique hotel just a hop, skip, and jump from the Eiffel Tower, I couldn’t wait to embrace the Parisian way of life. So I put on my finest pink tulle ensemble, and headed straight to a traditional patisserie. The flaky croissants, rich pain au chocolat, and the warm, sweet scent of sugared pastries were an instant transport to Parisian heaven. (Don't worry, I ate one whole pain au chocolat. No ballerina should ever say no to that! 😉)

  • *Saturday: * What's a Parisian adventure without a ballet? So this Saturday, I was at the Opéra Garnier for a breathtaking performance of Swan Lake. I actually ended up sitting beside a beautiful French woman with hair so perfectly tousled it looked as if she just stepped out of a magazine. She was wearing a chic navy blue suit with a perfectly coordinated pastel scarf. And me? I, of course, was resplendent in a stunning hot pink tutu. My outfit attracted some curious looks from the well-dressed audience, but mostly just envious glances. It's just amazing how many people appreciate a bit of whimsical colour. You wouldn’t believe the beautiful choreography and the stunning set designs! I was completely captivated.

  • Sunday: Paris is brimming with chic boutiques and hidden vintage shops. Today was a day dedicated to a bit of Parisian indulgence. My credit card, however, was begging to be put out of its misery, so I kept things simple - a few hand-picked vintage earrings from a delightful little shop in the Marais, a couple of elegant pink scarves, and a classic Parisian beret with a tiny pink ribbon. Then a quick coffee and a wander around Jardin du Luxembourg was the perfect ending to my day.

  • Monday: The beauty of Paris lies not just in its elegant streets and magnificent architecture, but also in its vibrant heart, the buzzing streets that never quite seem to slow down. A bit of a walk in Montmartre is just what I needed. So I donned a flowy, tiered pink tutu (perfect for the cobblestone streets) and strolled around the neighborhood, soaking in the sights, sounds and the atmosphere of the city. It's almost impossible to feel down when you’re in Paris!

  • Tuesday: What better way to spend a Parisian Tuesday than by taking a delightful boat trip on the Seine? I got to see all the major landmarks - the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Louvre, and so many more – all illuminated beautifully under the Parisian sunset. The gentle breeze tousled my pink tutu (my new favourite thing to do!) and I even struck up a conversation with a charming gentleman on the boat. Turns out he's a French author and his most recent novel featured a ballerina as a leading character - isn't it so funny how life often connects?

  • Wednesday: Every Parisian day has to be balanced with a dose of pure girly fun, right? And what's better than a ballet class in the heart of Paris? My morning began at an absolutely beautiful ballet studio in Montmartre. The instructor was French of course, very chic, very elegant, but also incredibly warm. And everyone else in the class – from seasoned ballerinas to nervous beginners – was equally charming. We had so much fun learning steps, practicing movements, and laughing together.

  • Thursday: A trip to the Louvre is mandatory on any Parisian pilgrimage. The Louvre is such an impressive building, both from the outside and the inside! The vast halls, the countless art pieces – I felt transported through time, marveling at everything I saw. I even spotted a fellow tutu-wearing girl in the queue! There's nothing like spotting a fellow pink tutu enthusiast in a crowd to make your day!

  • Friday: After days of exploring Paris on foot, it was time for a change of pace – and a little bit of whimsy. I rode through the streets in a beautiful vintage horse-drawn carriage! With my pink tulle cascading behind me like a princess on a fairy-tale journey, it was an incredible feeling.

Paris is definitely for the fairytale dreamers in us! Whether you're a ballet lover, a fashion enthusiast, a history buff or simply seeking to experience a touch of magic – Paris never fails to enchant!
