#PinkTutuBlogParis - Post 296: Bonjour from Paris! (Saturday 2005-08-27)

Oh la la, darling! Bonjour from Paris! It feels positively surreal to be writing this from a Parisian cafe, surrounded by the bustle of the city. You know I couldnā€™t come to the City of Lights without wearing a special pink tutu. Itā€™s a spectacular bubblegum pink with delicate layers of tulle that swirls like a delicate cloud when I twirl (which, letā€™s be honest, is pretty much constantly).

This week has been absolutely whirlwind! The journey over was a dream, a delightful chugging on the Eurostar - always a fab way to travel, don't you think? As the countryside zoomed by, I just felt so excited, buzzing with Parisian possibilities!

Of course, my trusty suitcase is overflowing with fabulous new outfits and my dance bag is filled with the perfect pink tutus for each day. I can't resist, you see! A pink tutu in Paris? Oh my, itā€™s the only sensible choice. Iā€™m thinking a floaty, ruffled one for todayā€™s afternoon exploration of the Eiffel Tower - let's just say I think it'll be the best photo-op ever!

Iā€™ve already discovered the most amazing vintage shop just off the Champs-Elysees. They have the most glorious clothes! Imagine, darling, a 1950s full skirt, but made entirely out of tiny little pink feathers. Honestly, itā€™s giving Parisian elegance meets feather boa - just what a ballet girl needs in Paris. And did I mention they have an incredible selection of tiaras? Iā€™ll be trying out one with a glittering pink pearl at tonightā€™s show!

Speaking of which, the ballet is next on my agenda. This weekend is all about the arts, darling. Weā€™re seeing ā€œGiselleā€ at the Paris Opera House tonight. Just thinking about those iconic white tutus, all swishing across the stage makes me giddy with excitement. The choreography is so captivating, it truly tells a story without a word. Afterwards, it's onto a champagne toast, naturally. Paris has such wonderful atmosphere!

I'm not letting this Parisian adventure slip away without trying some local ballet classes, though! Just imagine, being a ballerina in Paris... Honestly, it makes my toes tap just thinking about it! I'll be learning new moves and experiencing Parisian ballet - itā€™s going to be truly enchanting!

Saturday's in Paris always have this special magic, darling. The air is a blend of buttery croissants, floral scents and excited chatter in every language imaginable. There's this lovely energy everywhere! Later tonight, Iā€™ll be posting a little recap on my stories, with all the Parisian pink tutu fashion must-haves and tips! Do join me!

Iā€™m so grateful for every pink tutu moment in my life! Being in Paris and sharing it with you, is one of the biggest joys of my adventures. Remember, itā€™s never too late to embrace the joy of twirling and sparkling! Do something magical today.

Love,

Emma x

The Pink Tutu Paris Fashion File: Day One

I just have to share this, darling. Today, I discovered a Parisian treat - a bakery specializing in macarons shaped like pink tutus! It was a divine symphony of colour and taste! Each bite felt like a fairytale made just for me!

Iā€™ve also fallen head over heels for a Parisian boutique called ā€œLa Vie en Roseā€, a haven for tutus, ballet slippers, and all things pink! Imagine, darlings, every shade of pink tutu imaginable, from the pale pastel to the most vibrant neon, all meticulously crafted! And youā€™ll never guess what I snagged? A beautiful vintage ā€œMademoiselle Parisā€ tutu in the softest, most delicious shade of pink!

Outfit Inspiration

As you know, I always think about a tutuā€™s purpose - ballet is where its soul shines, darling. So I'll be wearing my latest vintage ā€œMademoiselle Parisā€ tutu today, just a hint of a ballerina vibe, you see. I've paired it with a vintage Parisian chic shirt in a beautiful light pink. A wide-brimmed sunhat (also pink, of course), perfect for exploring, and tiny ballet pumps (you can never have too many ballet pumps, darling) complete the look! I'm ready for any Parisian adventures this day may bring!

Things to Do:

  1. Visit the Eiffel Tower: What could be better than a photo in my Parisian tutu against the backdrop of the iconic Eiffel Tower?

  2. Explore the Montmartre: Home to the ā€œMoulin Rougeā€ (such a classic ballet inspiration) and a haven for art and culture, this will definitely inspire my artistic side.

  3. Indulge in a picnic: Because who doesnā€™t love a Parisian picnic? Especially with a little glass of rosĆ©.

  4. Discover a hidden courtyard: My heart already feels the charm of this romantic city so much, a secret garden feels like the perfect way to spend a relaxed afternoon.

Travel Tip:

The best way to navigate this city? A vintage bicycle, darling, and a pink scarf to match my pink tutu of course! What's more Parisian than that?

What's your favorite thing about Paris? And how do you stay pink and positive on your travels? Iā€™d love to hear from you - share your stories in the comments below!

PinkTutuParis #PinkTutuBlogParis #PinkTutuTravels Pink Tutu Paris Performance Notes: "Giselle" at The Palais Garnier

Ah, Parisian ballet! It just blows me away. The stage at the Palais Garnier is simply magnificent - it's like stepping back in time.

Tonightā€™s performance was truly captivating. The entire experience, the intricate costumes, the grand scale of the setting, was absolutely awe-inspiring. I almost felt transported into the world of ā€œGiselleā€ itself. And of course, the ballerinaā€™s technique - the delicate steps, the powerful leaps, all done with so much grace - made the entire thing even more special!

This performance felt like a dance across the pages of fairytale. It was pure romanticism with an undeniable air of drama and sorrow. The costumes were everything, darling, those delicate, ethereal tutus just swept me away, along with Giselle herself.

One of my favourite moments was during the famous Act Two where Giselle and her love are reunited, but then fate has other plans. It was heartbreakingly beautiful, a story told entirely through the ballet movements, and I simply had to keep myself from a tiny tear or two.

I can't wait for the next ballet performance - this time I might wear that tiny feather boa, it will be the perfect Parisian touch to my Pink Tutu look for the occasion, don't you think?

Parisian Fashion Finds: A Pink Tutu Boutique Treat

The vintage boutique is simply my new happy place, darling! Imagine an explosion of pink in the most luxurious setting, full of silk and satin and everything fabulous, and all the pink you could possibly imagine. The boutique owner is a true Parisian, a kind gentle soul who seems to just understand my passion for everything pink and tutu related. She was the one who told me about the macaron shop with the tutu shaped macarons! She's my Paris insider, my fashion fairy godmother of pink tutus!

The selection of vintage tutus at the boutique was absolutely spectacular! From those super full ā€œtutuā€ tutus with thousands of layers of tulle to those simple and classic ballet ones in beautiful colours and designs. My new favourite vintage pink tutu is made of the finest, softest pink lace with little bows all over it. It was so exquisite and I had to bring it home with me to wear back in Derbyshire - a little piece of Parisian fashion for my wardrobe, perfect for those ballet classes back home!

Paris Fashion Tips: Pink Tutu Style

Darling, it goes without saying that when you are in Paris the perfect pink tutu is a must, so hereā€™s some Parisian pink tutu style inspiration for you:

  • Vintage Chic: A beautiful vintage pink tutu combined with a Parisian chic look - it perfectly captures that effortless and stylish Parisian essence, darling. Imagine it with a soft, fitted cream sweater, little ballet flats and a French beret!

  • Pink Power: If bold is your style, then bright and bold is the way to go! A fuchsia tutu with white ballet flats and a white top, an outfit that demands attention, a statement that shouts, ā€œParis, here I come!ā€

  • Romantic and Delicate: If you're feeling more feminine and ethereal then opt for a tutu made of soft tulle in a blush pink or soft coral. This look goes so well with an elegant lace blouse or a pale pink knitted sweater and your ballet flats.

Remember, darling, the best style advice? Have fun, stay true to yourself, and let your pink tutu reflect your unique personality and joy for the ballet !
