Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post Number 364 - 16th December 2006
Bonjour from the City of Lights! It's Saturday morning and I'm sipping on a hot chocolate, watching the sun rise over the Seine from my hotel window. Paris, my love, you truly are breathtaking.
This is Post Number 364 of my Paris blog, which means I've been sharing my adventures in this enchanting city for well over a year now! Every week, I spend my Saturdays posting my thoughts on pink, tutus, ballet, and everything beautiful and fabulous about Paris - all for you, dear readers!
It feels strange to think it was just a few days ago I was back in my Derbyshire home, wrapping up another successful ballet performance. As a dancer, performing and sharing my passion for movement and expression is how I make a living - which gives me the most incredible opportunity to travel and see the world! This time, my travel of choice was the Eurostar! You guys, I cannot even begin to describe the feeling of boarding that gleaming, fast, silver train and gliding through the Channel Tunnel. It was like stepping onto a platform to another dimension. Pure magic!
Day One in the City of Love
Arriving in Paris Gare du Nord, it was like stepping out of a fairytale. The beautiful station, with its ornate architecture and the air thick with excitement, gave me the instant feeling that I was embarking on an extraordinary journey. My heart was soaring, and the world around me was instantly a stage, and I felt like the leading ballerina!
As a proud and pink tutu-clad adventurer, of course, I couldn’t just wander about Paris in any old outfit! My suitcase held my trusty collection of twirl-worthy attire, chosen specially for Paris - with an emphasis on pink, pink, and more pink! This city screams sophistication and romance, and I think I nailed the look perfectly. My chosen outfit? A hot pink tulle tutu, with a fluffy petticoat and a shimmering silver bolero, matched with some fabulous hot pink sparkly stilettos!
Of course, a trip to Paris isn't complete without a stroll down the Champs-Elysees, and, I tell you, those wide, sweeping avenues lined with majestic buildings are the epitome of glamour.
After stopping to take photos (oh my, I look like a Parisian doll!), we headed into a charming café to indulge in a little lunch. Now, I must confess, my little pink heart was squealing with delight as we found the perfect spot! My friends, there is nothing, and I mean nothing, like sipping a cafe au lait in a Parisian cafe, with that distinctive atmosphere. And my sandwich - a smoked salmon baguette! The dream, truly!
Parisian Charm
We took a walk along the Seine afterwards, admiring the view of Notre-Dame Cathedral in the golden afternoon light. Honestly, there is nothing like the riverfront here. Every single angle is picturesque. Of course, the bridges were my favourite. There are bridges with elegant ironwork, charming bridges covered in romantic locks and just bridges where you can simply take a moment to relax and soak in the atmosphere.
And can I just mention the incredible window displays of the stores and shops along the Seine? From elegant fashion houses to delicate jewellery and beautiful perfume displays - the artistic displays showcasing beautiful Paris fashion were breathtaking!
Paris has this magical, almost surreal quality to it - that's something that cannot be denied. Even though this was my 6th visit to the city, the magic still felt tangible and enchanting! Every cobbled street, every old cafe, every towering cathedral whispered with history and romance - and you feel instantly at home in the bustling but laid-back rhythm of the city.
As the sun dipped behind the Parisian rooftops, we headed to the theatre, the Grand Rex, to see the Ballet National de Paris perform the breathtaking "Swan Lake." The iconic ballerina costumes in their elegance, the classic tale of the Swan Princess, the incredible performance…it was pure artistry at its finest! My friends, it took everything I had not to jump on stage and join them - there is just something about live ballet, it gets me right in the soul.
And of course, after the show, no trip to the Parisian theatre would be complete without the decadent experience of a post-performance dinner! Oh my, a luxurious dinner, sipping delicious wine under twinkling fairy lights – talk about a fairytale ending! The meal was just… perfection!
The Pink Tutu and Paris
For my next post, I’m hoping to see the magnificent Palace of Versailles - all the beautiful gardens and royal history! My Tutu and I are prepared for an absolutely gorgeous photo shoot in the ornate surroundings. Stay tuned, readers, it will be fabulously pink and beautifully styled, as always!
So until next time, darlings - Bonne nuit from Paris, with lots of pink love!
