Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #393: Parisian Whirlwind! (Saturday 7th July 2007)

Bonjour, mes chéries! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind week in the City of Lights, Paris! Honestly, I can't remember the last time I had so much fun. Just you wait, you're going to want to book your EuroStar tickets pronto after seeing what I've been up to.

A Tutu-ing Train Journey

My adventure started on the EuroStar. It was the perfect way to kick things off, a beautiful journey whizzing through the countryside. I might have looked a tad out of place in my fluffy pink tutu and diamante tiara, but hey, I always make a statement! Luckily, a group of school children on a trip to France thought I was just a real-life ballerina! I had to resist the urge to start a spontaneous impromptu performance, but I did offer to sign a few autographs!

Oh La La! My Parisian Dream Starts Here

The moment we arrived at Gare du Nord, I felt like I was walking into a dream. Paris was alive with energy. Street musicians played charming melodies, cafes buzzed with lively conversations, and every street corner held a secret boutique just begging to be discovered. I could barely contain my excitement - this was exactly what I had been dreaming of!

From Tutus to Trenchcoats: The Parisienne Look

Speaking of fashion, my first stop had to be the Marais, the heart of vintage chic in Paris. Let me tell you, the shopping was absolutely phenomenal! I snagged a gorgeous vintage trench coat in a beautiful blush pink (because what else? Pink is my absolute favourite colour!). I think I must have tried on every piece of clothing in that store before finally settling on the perfect piece!

Taking to the Stage

That night, we went to see a ballet at the Palais Garnier. The Opéra Garnier is like a magical castle for dance lovers - every corner a gilded dream! The ballet, "Swan Lake," took my breath away, leaving me wanting to take up dancing again.

Walking in a Wonderland of Wonders

Over the next few days, we were walking everywhere. There is a special magic about exploring Paris on foot - the sights, the sounds, the smells all swirl together creating an intoxicating experience. I loved discovering charming little corners with tiny boulangeries and flower markets, stopping for coffee and croissants along the way. I especially loved wandering around Notre Dame - a beautiful cathedral, steeped in history and a great spot for sketching with a pink tutu on, of course.

More Shopping Adventures!

I had to do more shopping - it was a necessity, really. After a delicious lunch at "Les Cocottes" a little bistro near the Latin Quarter, I couldn’t resist popping into a boutique. And you won't believe this... I found the most perfect pair of pink ballet pumps! They are soft and delicate, just like a real ballet slipper, and look utterly chic with my Parisian pink ensemble!

A Delightful Dinner at Chez L'Ami Louis

One of the absolute highlights of our trip was dinner at Chez L'Ami Louis. A restaurant I have had on my list for ages, a real classic with a timeless Parisian feel. I felt like I'd been transported to a bygone era with the dim lighting, white tablecloths, and friendly service. I devoured every bite of their exquisite cuisine.

Taking It Easy with a Seine River Cruise

To cap off our visit to Paris, we took a romantic cruise on the Seine. As we floated along the river, we saw all of the city's most iconic landmarks illuminated at dusk: the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, and the Musée d’Orsay. It was simply stunning! We had a lovely glass of champagne to celebrate our Parisian adventure, and it felt like the perfect end to an absolutely magical trip.

Don’t Forget Your Pink Tutu!

My adventure in Paris was filled with whimsy, glamour, and a whole lot of pink tutus! I really think it is the ultimate way to explore the City of Lights - after all, Paris is all about embracing your inner fashionista! If you're planning a trip to Paris, be sure to pack your pink tutu (and a pair of comfortable shoes for all that walking!) It will make you stand out from the crowd and become your very own personal fairy tale. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, pink tutus make the world a happier place! Au revoir for now!

Next week’s blog will be dedicated to the beautiful countryside around Derbyshire, and my local dance festival. Until then, be sure to keep checking in with www.pink-tutu.com. Ciao!
