#PinkTutuBlogParis - Post #465 - Bonjour from the City of Lights!

Saturday 2008-11-22

Oh my darlings, I'm writing this from a quaint little cafe in the heart of Paris, a cup of hot chocolate warming my hands while I watch the world go by. I'm in love, with this city and everything it represents. It's like a dream come true, the very air feels alive with romance, history, and oh, so much chic!

It all started last night when I arrived, straight from Derbyshire on the Eurostar - how glamorous is that? There's nothing quite like hurtling through Europe in that silver bullet of a train, my heart full of anticipation.

Of course, my Parisian ensemble was something special. I'm not afraid to turn heads, you know. This trip demanded a bold splash of pink and nothing says "Parisian chic with a whimsical touch" more than a gorgeous pink tutu paired with a fluffy pink scarf and a pair of patent pink ballerina shoes. I was feeling like a Parisian princess in a fairytale, the kind where dreams come true.

Speaking of dreams coming true, let me tell you about the magical evening I had last night. My arrival in the City of Lights coincided with the opening night of Swan Lake at the Palais Garnier. I mean, how perfectly dramatic is that? I had managed to snag tickets through my ballet connections back in Derbyshire and I spent the entire journey bubbling with excitement. I knew I had to dress for the occasion. My tulle skirt twirled with such delight with each twirl of the beautiful ballerinas on stage, their performance made my heart soar. I couldnā€™t stop taking notes on the way they moved. This is inspiration right here!

The ballet itself was spectacular - the music, the costumes, the incredible dancingā€¦ it simply transported me to a different world. After the final bow, I even managed to snag a selfie with one of the ballerinas, and believe me, I'm gonna treasure that photo forever. It's hanging up in my room in a chic pink frame, of course!

But let's talk shopping, darling! Because after a day of being mesmerized by Swan Lake my soul needed some retail therapy. Now, I know that you, my beloved #PinkTutuFam, know Iā€™m a serious lover of all things fashionable, so I couldnā€™t possibly leave Paris without hitting the boutiques, could I?

We started off at the iconic Galeries Lafayette, the glittering emporium with enough gorgeous garments to satisfy a hundred ballerinas. It was a sensory overload of colours and fabrics, the air fragrant with designer perfume. I made a beeline for the designer clothing section. I simply couldnā€™t resist a brand new pink silk scarf and a gorgeous vintage feather boa - perfect for my ballet classes back in Derbyshire. But the most spectacular discovery was in the shoes section, a pair of delicate, white satin shoes, a tiny pink ribbon tied neatly on each. Perfect for those grand allegro moves, my darlings!

Today, my love for Paris continued on the streets, with its cobbled walkways, charming little cafes and bustling markets. Every corner seemed to hold a story waiting to be unfolded.

Here are some of the magical things I experienced today:

  • A walk along the Seine: A romantic stroll, accompanied by the sound of laughter, guitar music and the gentle ripple of the river. I felt like I was in one of my favourite ballets, a fairytale coming to life.

  • Lunch in a quaint cafĆ©: My stomach was calling for something light and charming. I settled for a delicious baguette stuffed with creamy goat cheese and fresh tomatoes. So typically Parisian!

  • Afternoon Tea with a Parisian Flair: This is not just any ordinary afternoon tea. The tea room, nestled on a charming side street, served dainty sandwiches with a delicate assortment of teas. The cakes were the piĆØce de rĆ©sistance - little macaroons with beautiful pastel colours that reminded me of sugar plum fairies. Oh la la!

  • Shopping spree in Le Marais: This district of Paris is a treasure trove of fashion inspiration, full of little independent boutiques with the most creative clothing. A blush pink knit sweater, a velvet beret with a little flower attached - more treasures for my #PinkTutu wardrobe.

My darlings, this blog post just scratches the surface of all the magic Paris holds. I have a feeling this weekend will be the beginning of a lifelong love affair with this enchanting city. Thereā€™s so much to discover, so many memories to make!

Stay tuned next Saturday for more Parisian delights.

Until then, remember - a pink tutu isn't just a garment, it's a feeling! And what better place to embrace that feeling than in the heart of the City of Lights?

Keep your tutu twirling, my loves,

Emma xx

P.S. For my readers in Paris - if you spot a pink tutu flashing by, say ā€œBonjour!ā€ It might just be me, enjoying a magical weekend!
