Pink Tutu Paris - #525 - Saturday 16th January 2010: Bonjour, Paris!
Well, darling readers, it's time to pop on those fabulous pink tutus and twirl our way onto the EuroStar, because this weekend we're en route to the City of Lights - Paris! This is, like, my dream trip and I've been counting down the days until I can grab a café crème (I'm learning!) at a sidewalk cafe in a chic, vintage Parisian frock. Can you imagine?! Twirls dreamily
Before I tell you all about the whirlwind that will be this trip (think Eiffel Tower selfies, croissant galore, and more tulle than you can shake a ballet slipper at!), let me remind you: you can read my Paris blog posts every single Saturday, here on www.pink-tutu.com. That's right, every week, I'll share all the sparkly secrets of Parisian life, the ooh la las and mon chéri moments that I'm sure you'll love as much as I do.
Oh, and before we go on to Paris, let me tell you a little bit about myself for all my lovely new readers - after all, I know I'm new to this Parisian adventure, but you might be too! I'm Emma, and my passion? Pink, obviously! It's the colour that represents my spirit - bold, bright, and full of joy. And tutus? Well, let's just say they make the world a better place, don't you think?
It’s not just about looking fantastic – for me, wearing a tutu brings a touch of magic into every day. It’s a reminder to twirl with joy and dance through life. That’s why I’m so passionate about sharing my love of all things ballerina and spreading the pink tutu love all over the globe. And trust me, Paris is going to be the perfect stage!
Now, back to our trip! After my triumphant performance at the Derby Gala on Friday (which totally paid for the train ticket, by the way - isn't it great that I can fund my travels by doing what I love?!) I woke up bright and early, all those lovely, happy pink-tinged dreams still swirling around my head, grabbed my darling pink tutu bag and whizzed down to the train station. Oh, did I mention that the theme for my Gala performance was "Pink Champagne Dreams"? I practically shimmered, I tell you! And I knew the Eurostar trip would be just as glamorous.
Stepping onto the Eurostar, the whole carriage transformed. Suddenly, everyone was dressed for the occasion, all looking chic and stylish in the most fabulous clothes! It felt just like the glamorous scene from Moulin Rouge and I found myself twirling a little in the carriage aisle! (I know, I know - it's just so hard to resist when you're feeling the magic, right? I really must have looked quite a sight!).
We arrived in Gare du Nord, and the city unfolded around us, a glorious symphony of light, history, and that iconic French je ne sais quoi. I had an absolutely wonderful journey, full of exciting chatter with fellow passengers, some impromptu ballet moves (well, it was a train after all!) and lots of dreams about what this weekend has in store.
Speaking of this weekend, darling readers, oh darling readers, you simply cannot miss this! Here's a taste of what we have planned:
Saturday 16th January
- Exploring Montmartre! It's the artist's district with winding streets and so much charm! I've already marked out the Sacré-Coeur Basilica - imagine the pictures with the white building in the background - picture perfect! - and of course, the famous Moulin Rouge for an evening of fun. I have already planned an impromptu "tutu twirl" with all the other Parisians (oh, how I hope I'm brave enough - I'll be wearing my stunning crimson pink tutu, I think! I might just buy a sparkly new pair of shoes for the occasion.
Coffee, Croissants, and Couture The morning starts at a Parisian café (and trust me, after my first experience of seeing all those perfectly prepared pastries and little, cream-filled choux pastry in shop windows I'm making a plan for serious cake and coffee consumption!). I'm hoping for an extra-large latte. It would be just fabulous to wear a tutu to a chic café for a little tea party with the girls, wouldn’t it?!
- Le Marais for Lunch! My very kind Parisian friend, Eloise (yes, it’s as gorgeous and fabulous as it sounds!), is meeting me for a traditional Parisian lunch! The best falafel and falafel sandwiches, they say! I wonder if Eloise will share my pink tutu obsession - fingers crossed!
Sunday 17th January:
- Ballet! How could I go to Paris and not visit the ballet?! This trip is all about Parisian inspiration! The Palais Garnier is just divine. And what better way to spend the morning than at a ballet class? Eloise is teaching me some moves. Let’s see if my beginner’s ballet classes from Derbyshire will come in useful.
- Afternoon Shopping spree! I have set aside the entire afternoon for indulging in Parisian fashion - think stylish vintage finds and maybe even a new pair of divine shoes - all for my twirling adventures. (Pink, of course, will be the main theme! Although I can already see myself with some divine little, black, pointy ballerina shoes that would look amazing with a pink tulle skirt - can you imagine? So elegant and chic. It is so hard to decide).
Dinner by the Seine! We’ll eat dinner while we take in the gorgeous view of the city at sunset.
You can be sure, darling readers, I’ll be capturing every moment - with my trusty camera and a whole lot of pink! Follow along for my pink-tinted adventures, the ultimate Parisian trip for a ballet-loving, tutu-wearing girl. Remember: Don’t forget to pop back here next Saturday for my Paris adventure update and don’t forget to leave me a message on my blog. Until next time, don't forget to wear pink - and keep twirling!
