Pink Tutu Blog Paris: Post Number 558 - Bonjour from the City of Lights!
Bonjour mes chères amies! It's Saturday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Blog post. And guess what? This one's all about Paris! I’ve finally arrived in the City of Lights, and let me tell you, it's everything I dreamed it would be – a swirl of romance, fashion, and oh so much chic.
My journey began in my little corner of Derbyshire, England, where I left the green rolling hills for the bustling Eurostar station. It was an exciting journey on the train, gliding through the English countryside, then past the vast and mysterious forests of Northern France, before finally arriving in the grand Gare du Nord in Paris. I simply adore travelling by train; it’s such a relaxed and charming way to get about.
Stepping off the train, I felt like I had stepped into a fairytale. Paris really is the most beautiful city. From the iconic Eiffel Tower standing tall against the sky, to the cobblestone streets lined with charming shops, to the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral (though a little sad at the moment seeing its scaffolding), this city is like a breathtaking tableau.
And let's be honest, the real star of this show is definitely the fashion. Oh, how I adore Parisian style! Every woman I pass, whether a student or a chic Madame walking her poodle, seems to have a effortless sense of fashion. Even the grandmothers look stunning in their stylish trench coats and elegant berets!
My First Steps in the City of Love:
For my first day in Paris, I planned a little adventure around the Marais district, known for its beautiful shops, cafes, and of course, its charming streets lined with grand, old buildings. It was simply lovely, wandering down narrow alleys lined with boutiques, and stumbling upon hidden squares perfect for people watching and indulging in delicious pastries.
You’ll never guess what I found today in one of these boutiques? A magnificent pink tutu, of course! This one was made of layers of tulle, with beautiful, hand-stitched embroidery, and the softest, most luxurious feeling silk lining I’ve ever touched. It was destined for me. I am wearing it as I write this blog, by the way.
A Ballet of Excitement
Of course, Paris wouldn't be complete without ballet. This evening, I saw a performance of "Swan Lake" at the Palais Garnier, the opera house that was immortalized in the beautiful "Phantom of the Opera" film. As the curtains rose on the elegant and intricate set design, I was swept away into a world of elegant ballerinas, soaring leaps, and heartfelt emotion. It was simply magical. I sat in the theatre completely mesmerized and spellbound, taking it all in. I even wore my new pink tutu (what else?!), under a chic little black dress. It added just the right amount of sparkle to my outfit and felt perfect for the occasion.
Finding Delicious Parisian Flavours
My Paris adventure wouldn’t be complete without indulging in delicious French cuisine. And trust me, there’s no shortage of delectable treats here! After ballet, I found a cosy bistro and savored the rich flavour of a creamy mushroom soup and a divine quiche Lorraine. The warm baguette I had on the side was absolutely heavenly.
But you know me – my weakness lies in the sweetness department! And I couldn’t resist stopping by a patisserie to pick up a decadent, pink macaron. I couldn’t resist it, the pink called to me! It was a true work of art, with the perfect balance of sweet, airy, and creamy. What a fitting way to end my first day in the city of love and fashion!
A Tutu-Filled Week to Come
There are so many wonderful things in store for me this week, I can't wait to tell you all about it. We have:
- Exploring the stunning Louvre Museum - how could I come to Paris and not see the Mona Lisa? I’m even considering going incognito in a full pink tutu. Think it might get me noticed, you think?
- Shopping at the famous Galleries Lafayette - it’s said to be every shopaholic's dream, and I can't wait to discover the fashion gems hidden amongst its stunning departments.
- A ballet class at the famous Opéra Garnier – it’s always such a wonderful opportunity to learn from some of the best dancers in the world. It’s an honor, truly.
This is just the start of my Pink Tutu adventures in Paris. Stay tuned to my blog for more exciting updates every week.
And don’t forget: It’s always time to put on your pink tutu and embrace a little bit of magic, wherever you are in the world.
Until next Saturday,
Bisous,
Emma xoxo
