Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #569 - Saturday 2010-11-20 - Ooh la la, Paris!

Bonjour, my dearest pink tutu darlings! This is Emma, your ballerina blogger, back from a whirlwind trip to the City of Lights, and boy, did it live up to all the hype! Paris, you were absolutely magical!

I've been dreaming of Paris for ages, you see, ever since I was a little girl with dreams of twirling in a pink tutu on the cobblestone streets under the Eiffel Tower. (My Nana actually found me a tiny little tutu, which I used to wear, pretending to dance the Swan Lake under our family pear tree! I don't think my parents knew what they were in for when they brought a future tutu enthusiast into the world.)

This time, my Paris adventure started on the EuroStar. I swear, there's just something so glamorous about zipping through the countryside at 300kph! I spent the journey trying out all the moves from the new ballet I'm learning, hoping that I could manage to pull off a grand jeté without bumping into anyone. Luckily, the fellow passengers were quite used to a bit of tutu madness. 😉

I finally arrived in Gare du Nord, the scent of fresh bread and pastries swirling around me. Then, the biggest smile burst onto my face as I stepped out of the station – the Paris skies were as bright blue as the satin ribbon of my pink tutu.

Speaking of pink, Paris was just bursting with it! From the dusty rose blooms cascading in shop windows to the delicate pink blush of the sunset over the Seine, every corner seemed to be whispering a delicate ballet of pink. Even the croissants tasted a little pink, if you can imagine that!

This trip wasn't just about dancing in the streets, although, I did have a few pirouette sessions by the Seine, you know, for the photos! It was also about exploring the city's legendary museums and historic sites. I fell completely head over heels for the Louvre. It's just awe-inspiring, a world of history and art wrapped in one magnificent building. Of course, I had to visit the iconic Mona Lisa. Did you know that she doesn't actually smile at all? It's all an illusion of shadows and angles!

Speaking of shadows and angles, Paris is full of beautiful architecture, but it's the light, the gorgeous Parisian light, that makes everything come alive! The sun just has this way of catching the golden edges of buildings and lighting them up like it’s an angel's spotlight!

The Notre Dame is stunning. A magnificent cathedral with such a rich and beautiful history. We even popped in for a beautiful organ recital. The sound of the organ soared up into the dome, just like the music from a heavenly symphony.

This week, it was an absolute must to see the latest Ballet performance at the Opéra Garnier! Oh my, you haven't lived until you've seen a ballet in this iconic building! From the plush velvet seats to the sparkling chandeliers, it felt like we had been whisked away to a fairy tale. We saw a stunning rendition of La Bayadère with a stunningly beautiful lead ballerina, the music, the sets, the costumes, just breathtaking! I was in complete awe.

Speaking of beautiful, Paris also knows how to keep you busy with fashion, oh my goodness! So many gorgeous shops and designer boutiques lining the avenues, from the haute couture of Chanel to the classic style of Yves Saint Laurent, it’s pure magic! Of course, a true ballerina always has an eye out for stylish and elegant dresses, and Paris absolutely delivered on this front. I found a dress in the most perfect shade of blush pink with exquisite detailing and delicate embellishments! I had to get it! My little wardrobe will never be the same again.

Every evening was a feast for the senses. Parisian cafes were buzzing with conversation and laughter, while street performers would take to the stage. I even managed to catch a glimpse of a very talented mime, who was absolutely hilarious. They turned the simple act of being frozen into an art form.

Did I tell you about the Parisian food?! Ooh, darling, it was amazing! Fresh, flavorful, and simply delightful. I even got to try my first Parisian macaron - it was so delicate, like a cloud of happiness, and so full of pink, what more could you ask for? I must admit, after all that eating I did make time for a trip to the local marché to purchase some lovely fresh fruit and vegetables for some healthy home-cooked meals.

It's been an amazing journey through Paris. I am feeling very inspired, and the memories I have collected here will surely be with me for years to come. From the enchanting streets and iconic landmarks, the stunning ballet performances to the vibrant colours and exciting shopping, every single moment of this trip was truly unforgettable!

As you all know, Paris holds a special place in my heart, as does a special colour! And, since the best way to carry Paris with you is to wear it, here’s a thought for you – What’s stopping you from wearing pink? Yes, wear it with confidence! Maybe a lovely ballet tutu to wear out and about, maybe a pair of stunning blush pink ballet flats! Why not join the tutu revolution! After all, everyone looks great in pink.

As usual, I will post another update next week!

Lots of Love,

Emma
