Pink Tutu Paris - Post #574: A Christmas Day Frolic in the City of Lights!

Hello my lovely tutu-wearing lovelies! Emma here, signing in from the most magical city in the world, Paris! It's Christmas Day, and although the festive decorations are beginning to be taken down, the Christmas spirit is still very much alive. This morning, as the light peeked in through my hotel window, I awoke to a flurry of snowflakes swirling outside.

But let’s rewind a bit – as this is post number 574, I know some of you lovely new readers might not be aware of my adventures yet. I’m Emma, a Derbyshire girl with a love for all things pink, fluffy, and fabulous! My life revolves around tutus, ballet performances, and – of course – exploring the world in style! And let me tell you, there is no better place to be in a pink tutu than in the City of Lights!

My Parisian adventure began on the Eurostar, my favourite way to travel, where I settled in with a copy of Vogue, a glass of champagne, and – of course – my trusty pink tutu! The train journey is always an experience in itself. There’s something so charming about gliding through the countryside, knowing you’re heading towards a city that’s brimming with history, romance, and fashion.

I arrived in Paris at Gare du Nord, my eyes wide with wonder at the bustling streets and the familiar scent of fresh pastries. As I checked into my little hotel in the Latin Quarter, a perfect location to be surrounded by cute cafes, cobbled streets, and a vibrant arts scene, I couldn’t help but feel excited. This city just holds a special magic.

So, here I am on Christmas Day, and the air is thick with the scent of roasted chestnuts and hot chocolate. After a leisurely breakfast at a cafe on the corner of Rue des Écoles, I decided to put on my sparkly pink tutu and take a stroll along the Seine. The Eiffel Tower gleamed in the distance, draped in festive lights, as I took a moment to absorb the beauty of this timeless city.

My tutu really turned heads today – it was the perfect splash of colour amongst all the Christmas red and green. Even though Christmas is usually a time for cozy family traditions, I can’t deny the appeal of embracing a new one. As I walked past the Louvre, I caught a glimpse of a street performer in a sequined leotard, executing impressive leaps and turns with her partner, a mischievous looking mime. That’s when I realized, my fellow pink tutu lovers, that Paris, especially during Christmas, is truly a stage for the fabulous!

Now, on Christmas Day in Paris, the big attractions are mostly closed, so I did some more relaxed sightseeing. I took the metro to Notre Dame – a place that always inspires a quiet awe in me. It’s breathtaking even from the outside, with its towering spire piercing the Parisian sky, a powerful testament to faith and art. Even with scaffolding due to the fire, it was mesmerising.

Of course, no visit to Paris would be complete without some shopping! As a ballerina with a passion for all things pretty, my must-have destinations are Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and Rue Saint-Honoré, filled with designer boutiques, haute couture houses, and independent fashion gems. I also found a darling vintage shop just a block from my hotel – they had a rack filled with gorgeous feather boas and sequin dresses! It’s always an absolute pleasure to stumble across unexpected treasures in this fashion capital!

The evening was truly special. After dinner at a delightful little restaurant with a view of the Seine (they even had a vegan menu, for all my lovely plant-based tutu enthusiasts), I ventured to the Champs-Élysées. I was lucky enough to catch the end of the Christmas tree lighting ceremony. As thousands of tiny lights illuminated the tree, the whole avenue seemed to shimmer with magic!

Walking through the city in my tutu, I realised that Paris has a charm that’s hard to resist. It’s a place that whispers to your soul and ignites your dreams. And what better place to do so, than adorned in your favourite pink tutu?

Tomorrow, I plan to delve into the art scene of Paris. I’m eager to catch a show at the Palais Garnier, the majestic home of the Paris Opera, followed by a class at one of the world-renowned ballet schools in the city. Of course, I'll be documenting my adventures here for you all next Saturday, my dears, with all the exciting details and beautiful photos you could want!

Stay tuned, and keep those pink tutus twirling!

Love,

Emma
