Pink Tutu Paris ā€“ Post 615: The City of Lights and Ballet Bliss!

Bonjour from Paris, my lovelies! Itā€™s Saturday, 8th October 2011, and Iā€™m feeling absolutely smitten with this magical city. This weekā€™s adventures have been utterly delightful, and it all began with a thrilling Eurostar journey, of course. Thereā€™s something so glamorous about hurtling through the countryside at 186mph ā€“ I even managed to get some sketching done for my latest Tutu designs!

As you know, darling readers, my little Pink Tutu life is all about a happy combination of fashion, travel and dance. And this week, Paris has delivered on all fronts! Iā€™ve been swirling my pink tulle around the most iconic Parisian locations ā€“ think Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvreā€¦you name it, I've twirled there in my very favourite tutus. I'm seriously thinking of adding a "Pink Tutu in Paris" book to my growing list of projects... It's like a ballerina's dream!

Now, letā€™s dive into the details of my Parisian escapade:

Day One: From Derbyshire to Paris with Love

After packing my suitcase with a mountain of tutus (itā€™s a struggle, trust me!) I set off from Derbyshire on Friday morning, feeling a delightful mix of excitement and trepidation. You see, Paris is always an absolute feast for the senses, so I knew my little ballet-loving heart would be utterly overwhelmed. The Eurostar journey, though, was pure bliss. The train glided seamlessly through the countryside, offering a breathtaking vista of rolling hills and quaint villages. As usual, I made a quick change into my newest tutu creation ā€“ a vibrant coral concoction with delicate black feathers, perfect for this Parisian adventure!

My journey culminated at the Gare du Nord, a grand and beautiful station bursting with activity. As I stepped onto Parisian soil, the cityā€™s air seemed to buzz with a delicious energy. The scent of freshly baked bread, the sounds of street performers, and the sights of stylish Parisians whizzing by ā€“ I was absolutely mesmerized.

Fun fact: I spotted a fellow tutu wearer, sporting a bold teal ensemble with matching feathered headpiece. I nearly cried with joy ā€“ itā€™s so wonderful to know weā€™re spreading the pink tutu message all around the world!

Day Two: Ballet and Boutiques ā€“ Oh La La!

Iā€™m a firm believer that any visit to Paris simply HAS to include a visit to the iconic Palais Garnier. Its beautiful grand staircase is simply stunning ā€“ the perfect setting for a dramatic tutu pose or two. This week, it also offered the pleasure of ā€œLa BayadĆØreā€, with the corps de ballet dressed in breathtaking costumes. The performance was simply captivating, a whirlwind of beauty and precision ā€“ I must admit, I even shed a few tears! My inner ballerina wept with joy at the sheer talent on display.

After the ballet, of course, I had to visit some of my favourite Parisian boutiques! This weekā€™s haul included a chic pair of black satin ballet shoes, a dazzling new tutu, and an amazing vintage Chanel bag. I also discovered the most exquisite chocolatier near the Opera House, which simply HAS to be revisited for more delicious treats. You'll have to wait for another post, lovelies!

Pink Tutu Tip: Take a stroll along the Rue de Rivoli - a perfect mix of charming boutiques and majestic historical architecture! Youā€™ll definitely find a new outfit for your pink tutu wardrobe!

Day Three: Fashion Inspiration and Afternoon Delights

My adventures continued with a fabulous visit to the MusĆ©e des Arts DĆ©coratifs, which featured an exhibition showcasing the most exquisite pieces of haute couture. This beautiful building houses such inspiring designs, with its own distinct and romantic vibe ā€“ just my kind of afternoon, darlings. It was the perfect excuse for a ballet-inspired daydream, conjuring up images of fabulous gowns, elaborate dance routines, and of course, that gorgeous pink tulle, which seems to find its way into my every dream!

A little while later, it was time for an afternoon stroll along the Seine. You see, Iā€™m completely captivated by the romantic charm of the City of Lights ā€“ all those cobbled streets, beautiful bridges, and quaint cafes, where artists and poets alike found inspiration. It is, after all, where ballet legend Sergei Diaghilev held court!

I took a relaxing, picture-perfect boat trip down the Seine and spotted a magnificent, historic monument ā€“ the Invalides, a stunning structure home to Napoleonā€™s tomb. The golden dome stood proudly, and it just felt so grand, so utterly Paris! You couldn't escape the history ā€“ just the sheer magnificence made me gasp!

Pink Tutu Tip: Grab a delicious crĆŖpe from a street vendor as you admire the breathtaking Parisian sunset - perfectly romantic!

Day Four: Climbing the Iconic Tower and a Parisian Waltz

What trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower? It's such an icon, itā€™s impossible to resist. As I looked up at its imposing structure, the whole of Paris spread out before me in a dazzling vista. My camera snapped furiously, but frankly, the whole city feels so perfectly iconic and photo-ready!

To enjoy a Parisian picnic ā€“ complete with a glass of rosĆ©, of course ā€“ was sheer bliss. The combination of crisp Parisian air, spectacular city views, and a taste of champagne, it felt so elegant, so dreamy. But my little pink tutu heart had other plans for the evening.

So off I went to the stunning HĆ“tel de Crillon for an evening of Parisian ballet magic. As the graceful ballerinas waltzed around the Grand Salon, a delicate air of romance permeated the space. Oh my, those tutus were exquisite! And even as the ballerinas took their bows, my inner-dancer began to stirā€¦

I may have surprised even myself as I gracefully waltzed onto the dance floor, tutu flowing, my joy of dancing absolutely visible. What can I say? Paris has a magical effect on even this ballerina!

Day Five: A Shopping Spree and Some Paris Street Style

Of course, a trip to Paris isn't complete without a day dedicated to shopping! This week, my favourite shops included those of Galeries Lafayette ā€“ its decadent surroundings offer a perfect window into the world of Parisian haute couture! It's the kind of shop where one could wander for hours, marveling at the latest fashion creations and finding inspiration for the next pink tutu masterpiece, or two!

On Saturday, I made sure to indulge in a spot of afternoon tea, accompanied by a magnificent, strawberry-and-cream millefeuille - what better way to refuel for more shopping adventures?

Parisian style is all about effortless chic - from sleek Parisian girls sporting chic little black dresses and trendy flats to glamorous men rocking tailored suits with perfectly groomed beards - there is a distinct stylish air, and a quiet elegance that draws you in. And yes, of course, I took advantage of every chance to strike a perfect ā€œpink tutu poseā€ against these wonderful backgrounds - I just canā€™t help it, darling readers! It was fun to see my pink tulle against the Parisian street art. It was truly inspiring!

Day Six: Farewell, Paris, Until We Meet Again!

My last day in Paris began with an indulgent brunch, followed by a whirlwind trip to Montmartre. My tutu, however, had other plans. Its feather trimmings had been flirting with the Sacre Coeur for the whole week. So naturally, we enjoyed a few spins and turns on this hallowed Parisian ground - there were very few tutus up there that day, darling readers, you can believe it! It really added to the romantic, mystical aura of the whole location, right?

Before I left, I stood on the top of the hill and took one last long look at the City of Lights. Paris, my dear, will always have a special place in my pink tutu heart.

From the romantic cobbled streets to the graceful Parisian waltz, my time here was a pure and joyful expression of all my loves - pink tutus, ballet, travel and shopping. I will return again soon, darling readers!

Donā€™t forget to visit www.pink-tutu.com for weekly Parisian posts - next week, weā€™ll be venturing into the beautiful Normandy, so donā€™t miss out on the adventures of my pink tutu! And remember, lovelies: spread the pink tutu message - wear one, dance in it, share the love! Au revoir, mes amies!

xx Emma
