Pink Tutu Blog: Paris Adventures - Post #627

Bonjour, my darling darlings! It's Emma here, bringing you a little Parisian sunshine from the City of Lights - well, almost! We are heading towards the end of 2011, and I couldn't have picked a better place to spend it. As you know, my love of ballet, tutus and pink is insatiable - and where better to find a true appreciation for all three than in this magnificent city?

This weekend, the air feels alive with magic. A new year's anticipation is buzzing around, the streets are twinkling with Christmas lights, and a light dusting of snow adds a touch of Parisian chic to the atmosphere. Just what this tutu-clad girly girl needs for inspiration!

For this week's post, we're venturing into the heart of Paris, where cobblestone streets are lined with delectable boulangeries, chic boutiques, and hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. The Eurostar whisked me away, leaving Derbyshire's crisp December air behind, and brought me straight to the centre of all things elegant and stylish - perfect for a tutu enthusiast like me.

Oh, I have so much to share! The scent of fresh bread, the clinking of glasses in cafe terraces, the thrill of finding that perfect vintage accessory – Paris always seems to ignite a different kind of spark within me.

A Parisian Pink Parade:

Let's start with my Parisian ensemble: how could I visit this glamorous city without a truly fabulous tutu? Of course, pink had to be the star, but I added a dash of French sophistication with a silk, blush-toned scarf, paired with a knitted cashmere cardigan – just enough to keep the crisp Parisian air at bay, but still with that chic touch. My ballerina shoes are essential, too, but with a little shimmer and a touch of rose-gold to really amp up the festive sparkle.

Stepping into the Parisian Ballet:

First stop, the grand Palais Garnier! As a true ballet aficionado, seeing this legendary opera house was an absolute must. I felt like a ballerina stepping onto the stage, soaking in the elegance of the architecture, imagining the history etched into the walls. You know that moment when you feel your heart pounding, just like it does before you step into the light on a stage? That's what the Palais Garnier gave me – the ultimate dose of Parisian magic.

But there's so much more to ballet in Paris than just grand palaces. The streets themselves feel like a stage, especially in the Montmartre district! I watched, utterly captivated, as talented young street performers captivated the passersby with their passion. Their energy, their raw talent, it made me feel like I was a part of their dance, too. There's just something about seeing ballet come alive, outside of the theatre walls, that feels uniquely powerful.

Shopping with a Twist:

A little fashion foray was a definite necessity, my lovelies! The charming boutiques lining the Rue de Rivoli, filled with vintage delights and beautiful Parisian clothing, made my heart soar! A pair of elegant rose-gold ballet shoes, a silk floral scarf with an enchanting Parisian design, and a pair of black-and-white polka dot tights (to accentuate my tutu, naturally!).

It's always such an inspiration to see the Parisians embracing their personal style. Each woman, a unique blend of timeless elegance and modern edge. My favourite finds were those that blended the chic with a bit of unexpected whimsy. I found myself falling for little details, delicate lace and brooches that spoke to the Parisian spirit of subtle elegance.

New Year's Eve Sparkle:

It's the night before New Year's Eve and already Paris is humming with festive energy. The Champs-Élysées is decked out in dazzling lights, and the smell of roasted chestnuts wafts from street vendors. Every corner seems to be glowing with warmth and joy, and I feel utterly enthralled by the atmosphere. I'm planning to spend New Year's Eve celebrating with a magical Parisian ballet performance - think dramatic lighting, gorgeous costumes and a flurry of tutus on stage. Could it get more spectacular? I think not!

My Tutu Message:

Whether you're in Paris or somewhere else, always embrace the magic and joy around you. Embrace your own unique style. And dare to step outside your comfort zone! Wear your heart on your sleeve (or should I say, your tutu?), be bold and be yourself, because life is too short for anything less.

But above all, remember: there's a touch of magic in every day. It's all about opening your heart to the wonders that life has to offer. And never, ever stop dreaming in pink.

À bientôt! Emma
