Pink Tutu Paris: Post #631 – Bonjour from the City of Lights!
Saturday, 28th January, 2012
Bonjour mes chéries! 🩰 It's Emma here, reporting live from the most romantic city in the world! That's right, I've finally arrived in Paris – the capital of fashion, the city of love, and, most importantly, the perfect setting for a tutu-clad explorer! 🇫🇷
This week, I'm going to take you all on a Parisian adventure, from the chicest boutiques to the grandest theatres, and I promise to document every last detail, every fabulous outfit, and every enchanting moment in this incredible city.
But first, let's talk about my journey! ✨
Leaving Derbyshire felt like stepping into a fairytale. I packed my pinkest tutu (naturally!) and all my favourite frocks, hopped aboard the Eurostar, and whizzed through the countryside towards the City of Lights. The journey was an absolute dream – I snuggled into my seat, admired the scenery, and even managed to squeeze in a quick ballet practice session in the spacious carriage. (Shhh, don't tell the conductor!)
Reaching Gare du Nord in Paris felt like walking into a vintage film. The hustle and bustle, the elegant architecture, the romantic air - it was truly breathtaking. As soon as I stepped out, I felt the Parisian spirit calling to me. And it's not just the stunning sights and sounds that are enchanting, it's the vibe! Parisian fashion is truly unique and oh-so chic.
Day 1: A Parisian Welcome and First Encounters with Parisian Fashion
Once I checked into my gorgeous little hotel - a charming little boutique spot just off the Champs-Élysées - I decided to set out on an exploratory mission. My first stop? A detour into the world of haute couture! You know me – I just couldn't resist popping into some of Paris' most legendary fashion houses!
Firstly, the glorious Dior. A palace of glamour and intricate details! I couldn't tear my eyes away from the stunning window displays, with their iconic dresses and sophisticated lines. My dream was to see those couture dresses spun around the Parisian runway! Oh, how I love the theatricality and beauty of fashion. A girl can dream!
My next stop? Chanel. 👛 I wandered through the hallowed halls, inhaling the signature scent, admiring the iconic tweed suits and elegant accessories. The boutique was truly a work of art - the colours, the fabrics, the cuts – it was pure Parisian perfection!
After a whirlwind tour of these glamorous Parisian temples of fashion, I wandered through the charming streets, soaking up the ambiance and taking in the exquisite Parisian fashion that I loved. I spotted so many gorgeous ladies wearing beautiful dresses, stylish jackets, and elegant accessories – they really have a natural flair! The French certainly understand chic, they seem to make effortless style look simple.
As evening descended upon the city, I was determined to witness the Parisian magic on a grand scale. My chosen destination? A captivating performance at the Palais Garnier, a theatre famous for its opulent beauty and history.
The opera house itself was truly stunning! It’s hard to imagine that the structure is nearly 150 years old – the gold, marble, the chandeliers and the grand staircase – all just wowed me. I was spellbound by the architectural splendor. The whole atmosphere was thrillingly magical, it was the ultimate fairy tale setting, worthy of my ballerina tutu! 🩰
Tonight's performance was Romeo et Juliette – an emotional rollercoaster of love and tragedy. I was completely swept away by the passionate dancing and the beautiful costumes. There is something truly captivating about the energy of live ballet performances - it's intoxicating. I couldn’t wait to return to the ballet class to channel my own Parisian ballerina. I may have already felt the influence of Paris today – it has a wonderfully invigorating energy.
Tomorrow, it’s the Louvre and then the world famous Eiffel Tower! I already feel excited about taking you with me on this journey… Stay tuned! 🇫🇷
Until next Saturday, Emma xoxo
