Pink Tutu Travels: Bonjour, Paris! (Post #644)

Saturday 28th April 2012

Bonjour, mes chéries! It’s your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma, checking in from the City of Lights! I finally made it to Paris, darling! I've always wanted to come to this romantic and oh-so-chic city, and I just knew it had to be a Pink Tutu adventure! I can't believe I'm finally here, swirling around amongst the cobblestones and café terraces in my pretty pink tutu, feeling like a proper Parisian ballerina.

My journey was, as ever, pure joy! The Eurostar is just divine – such a fabulous way to travel! Imagine a glamorous train journey, zipping across the English Channel in style. Oh, the anticipation as the landscape changed, and the countryside slowly morphed into the French countryside. My pink tutu certainly made quite the entrance when I stepped out at Gare du Nord. A delightful gentleman offered to take a picture of me and my beautiful tutu against the station’s backdrop, with its ornate facade, which I think captures my Parisian adventures perfectly.

My first order of business was, of course, to grab a delicious croissant from a quaint little boulangerie and then wander around, admiring the architecture. Honestly, Paris is just breathtaking! Every corner boasts something amazing – from grand, iconic monuments like the Eiffel Tower to charming, quirky boutiques on hidden side streets. Every moment is an opportunity to lose yourself in the romance of it all!

Later in the afternoon, I decided to visit the Palais Garnier, the magnificent opera house. Oh, it is utterly stunning! You just wouldn’t believe it! The grand staircase is simply divine. I’m just dying to go to a show here – ballet, naturally – can you imagine the grace and artistry unfolding under those incredible chandeliers? It's so majestic. I felt so much like a fairytale princess twirling beneath its crystal splendour! I just love to let myself go, dream, and lose myself in the world of the ballet. I know I can't be the only one!

Of course, a day in Paris would be utterly incomplete without a touch of haute couture! My wanderings through the Marais took me down chic Rue des Francs Bourgeois and beyond to charming boutiques and hidden little shops that brim with gorgeous clothing, shoes, and accessories. Oh my darling, they are simply heavenly. I found this delightful scarf with a delicate rose print that I just had to purchase for my upcoming performance at the Derbyshire Ballet Festival – my darling tutus will look positively regal draped in such elegance!

But Paris isn’t just about grand palaces and luxury boutiques, dearie! I'm finding that even the simple moments in this charming city are utterly magical. The charming sidewalk cafes buzzing with lively chatter, the scent of fresh bread drifting from every bakery, and the laughter echoing from parks like Jardin du Luxembourg are all enchanting moments that I'm soaking up. I am embracing the Parisian lifestyle with open arms! And, I can’t forget to mention, my latest indulgence - the delectable macarons at Ladurée – so sweet, so divine. I almost burst into a beautiful twirl when I took my first bite! I even spotted a lady with a sweet pink tutu, who kindly let me take her picture - hopefully, my efforts to inspire the world to embrace their own pink tutu dreams is taking shape!

However, it wouldn’t be a true Parisian adventure without indulging in some real Parisian traditions, wouldn’t you agree, dearie? This evening, I'm planning a delightful rendez-vous at the Théâtre du Châtelet to see the magnifique ballet of "La Fille Mal Gardée" by Frederick Ashton. Now, you all know how I love ballet, darling! And this evening, I’m embracing the true Parisian cultural experience.

This has been a truly extraordinary day in Paris! A whirlwind of enchantment, romance, and pure joy, and I'm only just beginning to discover the hidden treasures this captivating city holds. Stay tuned, dearie! The adventures are just beginning. Remember, life is far too short to be anything but fabulously pink. Now, let's go and twirl like a Parisian!

Bisous,

Emma xx
