Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #658 - Saturday 4th August 2012: A Pink Tutu Adventure in the City of Lights!

Bonjour mes amies!

It's Saturday, which means a new Pink Tutu blog post! And this week, I'm so excited to be writing from the City of Lights itself, Paris!

I've always dreamed of visiting this magical city, and now, thanks to my wonderful ballet performances and a super speedy EuroStar ride, I'm finally here. My pink tutu and I are ready to twirl our way through Parisian streets and soak up the romantic atmosphere.

And speaking of romance, there's no better place to be on August 4th than in the heart of Paris. Today marks the annual "Festival du Cinéma Américain à Deauville", where we'll be taking in some classic American film screenings. Imagine! Cinema and pink tutus? What could be more enchanting?

But first, a little journey back to the start of my Parisian adventure...

Day One: EuroStar and a Pink Tutu Welcome

I simply couldn't wait to get to Paris, and my excitement levels reached new heights when I hopped onto the EuroStar. There's something incredibly glamorous about train travel, and the smooth, high-speed ride through the countryside made me feel like a movie star on the way to a premiere. I couldn't resist adding a little touch of Pink Tutu magic, of course. I donned my latest creation - a bright pink tutu with a delicate, sequined design, perfectly complimenting my Parisian-inspired ensemble of a navy blue dress, white blouse, and classic red beret. I mean, even travel needs a dash of Parisian flair, right?

As we pulled into the Gare du Nord station, the air buzzed with the excitement of a thousand Parisian dreams. The moment I stepped out, a wave of magical, romantic energy washed over me. Everywhere I looked, there were chic shops, beautiful architecture, and of course, endless possibilities for fashion inspiration!

Afternoon Delight: A Pink Tutu's Parisian Paradise

Of course, my first stop had to be the legendary Galeries Lafayette, a magnificent department store that's like a temple to French fashion. From exquisite lingerie to designer gowns, the Galeries had everything a pink tutu lover could desire. It's no secret I adore vintage clothes, so naturally, I spent some time browsing the Le Marais district, where I found the most adorable little boutique filled with exquisite vintage lace and velvet creations. I think a few new additions to my Pink Tutu wardrobe are in order!

Evening Delight: Ballet Magic on the Seine

No trip to Paris is complete without a touch of ballet magic, and I was fortunate enough to snag tickets to a show at the Grand Palais. The Grand Palais itself is an architectural masterpiece, so it seemed only fitting that it should play host to some of the most stunning ballet performances.

This evening's show, "La Belle Danse," featured breathtaking costumes and masterful storytelling. It transported me to a world of dreams and fairy tales, and I left feeling utterly inspired, just like any self-respecting ballerina should. And don't forget the grand finale! There was a gorgeous outdoor performance right on the banks of the Seine, with the twinkling city lights creating the perfect ambiance. I was truly living the Parisian dream, and my pink tutu was dancing right alongside me!

Pink Tutu Treats & Tips:

Here are a few of my favourite pink tutu-worthy places in Paris, perfect for those looking for a dash of Parisian elegance and glamour:

  • Ladurée: For those who love all things pink, Ladurée is a must-visit! These divine macarons are a delightful treat, and the signature pink box makes them the perfect Parisian souvenir.
  • The Palais Royal Garden: This tranquil haven is perfect for a stroll amongst the classical architecture and manicured gardens, especially on a sunny day.
  • The Eiffel Tower: You can't visit Paris without ascending the Eiffel Tower! The panoramic views of the city are simply breathtaking, and the golden glow of the Tower at night is truly magical.
  • The Louvre: Don't forget to visit the iconic Mona Lisa at the Louvre, and explore the art that spans centuries! Remember to wear comfortable shoes as this is a large museum, you could easily be walking around for hours!
  • The Shakespeare and Company Bookstore: If you love literature like I do, make your way to this independent bookstore in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. This literary gem is filled with dusty shelves of books and a sense of bohemian charm.

Pink Tutu Shopping Secrets:

  • Les Puces de Saint-Ouen: If you love finding unique treasures, don't miss the flea market in Saint-Ouen. With thousands of antique dealers and vintage boutiques, it's a veritable treasure trove. You might even find some wonderful new pink tutu creations!
  • Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré: For the ultimate luxury experience, head to this prestigious shopping avenue. With exclusive boutiques and designer brands, you can easily indulge your inner Parisian fashionista.

Pink Tutu Inspiration:

  • Embrace Parisian Style: Parisians have an effortless elegance. They understand that less is more, and quality over quantity matters. I find the effortless charm of Parisian style a great inspiration for my own look. It’s all about simple, elegant outfits, timeless pieces and accessories, but always with a dash of whimsy – just like my pink tutus!
  • Think Classic and Chic: Invest in timeless pieces that will last you a lifetime. Think a sleek black dress, a beautiful cashmere scarf, a classic trench coat, and chic ballerina flats!
  • Have Fun With Colour: Don't be afraid to add a touch of colour and play with your personal style. This is a pink tutu-approved tip after all! Experiment with different hues, patterns, and accessories. I’ve even been known to add a touch of bright pink to my otherwise black ensemble – trust me, it’s a statement!

Stay tuned next Saturday for more adventures from Paris - you can find all my Parisian posts on my Pink Tutu Paris series. I've got so much more to share with you!

Remember, everyone can wear a pink tutu! So whether you're exploring the City of Lights or your own neighbourhood, be sure to add a touch of magic to your day!

See you next week, my dears!

With Love & Twirls,

Emma
