Pink Tutu Paris: Bonjour from the City of Lights!

Bonjour mes amies! This is Emma here, reporting live from Paris, the city that practically drips with romance and sophistication! As you know, this week has been a whirlwind of twirls and tiaras - I'm in the City of Lights for the weekend and it's a true Parisian fairytale come true. My trusty pink tutu is already covered in Parisian dust, which is rather ironic since I spent an hour before arriving, scrubbing every bit of grime from my ballet shoes (a ballerina's life is never glamorous, eh?).

This time around, I traded my beloved London tube for a smooth journey on the EuroStar – truly, a trip to Paris wouldn't be complete without gliding through the French countryside, gazing out at the sun-dappled vineyards and picturing ballerinas dancing on fields of wildflowers! It was the perfect way to start this Parisian escapade.

So what have I been up to since touching down on Friday? Well, dear readers, it's a long list - and you know how much I love to talk!

First things first, it’s imperative I fill you in on the show I'm seeing tonight. You wouldn’t believe the sheer amount of incredible ballet shows going on in Paris right now, it’s practically an explosion of elegant movements and beautiful music! But I’ve chosen a gem - I'm going to see Giselle tonight, performed by the wonderful dancers of the Paris Opera. Giselle is such a powerful and beautiful story – a tragic tale of love, betrayal, and of course, breathtaking ballet technique! I can't wait to watch it, and I promise I'll write all about it in next week's post, including what the other ballerinas in the audience are wearing, the delicious (and very pink) champagne they served us, and of course, how it inspired my own interpretation of a Giselle tutu!

This morning I took a beautiful stroll along the Seine, watching the Parisians go about their day – I've never felt more at home in this city. Everything just seems so romantic and picturesque here, you almost have to pinch yourself! After I was finished taking pictures (so many pictures, dear readers!), I found the cutest little cafe on the Seine and sat down to enjoy a perfect café au lait and a pain au chocolat. The taste, oh, the taste – it's a good thing I brought an extra pair of my sparkly pink ballet shoes, otherwise I'd have had to run away and dance on a nearby cobblestone street to get rid of that happy-calorie buzz!

Of course, no Parisian journey would be complete without some serious shopping, and today I got my fix! From delicate lace gloves at the charming Marais shops to vintage Dior earrings at a boutique on Rue Saint-Honoré, I simply couldn't resist a little bit of retail therapy! The vibrant, elegant streets of Paris offer so much to tempt you – and as we all know, pink tutus just don’t dance unless there’s a new outfit waiting to be twirled in!

And now, with a touch of Parisian sunshine warming my cheeks, it’s time for a quick bite (and maybe a sneaky glass of wine) before heading off to the theatre. Next week, I’ll fill you in on all the fun that's still waiting! In the meantime, remember - spread the pink tutu love, ladies, and dance like no one’s watching. (But really, I might be!) Au revoir!
