Pink Tutu in Paris! (Post #709) - 27th July 2013

Bonjour mes amis! Emma here, your pink-loving, tutu-wearing, travel-obsessed ballerina blogger! And guess what? I'm in PARIS! Oh la la, the City of Lights is shimmering and sparkling just like a perfectly-spun tutu, and I'm absolutely smitten.

This week's blog is extra special, because not only did I hop aboard the Eurostar to France, but it's also a Saturday, meaning I'm ready to share all the dazzling delights of my Parisian adventures. And as you all know, a Saturday in Paris calls for a pink tutu – it’s practically obligatory!

The Journey

Stepping out of Derby station, I could practically feel the magic of the Eurostar coursing through my veins! It was the perfect blend of anticipation and excitement - all fuelled by my passion for travel and a yearning to be immersed in Parisian culture.

And let me tell you, the Eurostar is a dream come true for a ballet dancer like me! The sleek, comfortable carriages are practically a backstage waiting room, allowing you to stretch and get your steps in while you soak up the scenery zipping by. The friendly staff add to the experience, providing helpful information and ensuring your every comfort.

Arrival in the City of Love

My heart skipped a beat as we pulled into Gare du Nord, a stunning spectacle of architectural brilliance! It's as grand and theatrical as the opéra itself - a wonderful start to my Parisian adventure.

But hold on to your tiaras, lovelies, the real highlight of arriving in Paris is…you guessed it…THE TARTAN TAXI! With its striking red-and-black livery, it's practically a walking artwork!

Now, before we dive into the fashionable fun, a little secret for all my fellow ballerinas out there: If you find yourself near the Eiffel Tower, make sure to sneak into Le Jardin du Trocadéro (it’s on the other side of the Seine river). I discovered it on a wander yesterday, and it's truly a ballerina's paradise. Imagine this - a peaceful, lush green oasis with perfect barres for impromptu practices under the watchful eye of the Eiffel Tower. Oh, the possibilities!

Shopping, Splendor and Sugar

You know how much I love indulging in fashion, and Paris is the ultimate playground for my shopaholic heart. I spent a blissful afternoon browsing the Parisian boutiques, from chic, elegant designers to charming, independent ateliers bursting with bohemian delights. The most amazing part? It’s not unusual to spot the iconic tartan taxi drivers pulling up in style with a designer dress, or ballet shoes on their seats – it’s truly fashion-forward!

But of course, a trip to Paris would be incomplete without sampling its delectable delights! From classic macaroons at Ladurée to buttery, flakey croissants at a charming boulangerie – I indulged in every pastry goodness imaginable! I simply adore how everything in Paris, from the grand architecture to the delicious food, just tastes…delicious.

Ballet at its Best

Of course, the Parisian ballet scene is one of the most exciting reasons I came. It's a city where art thrives and the classical art of ballet reigns supreme.

On Friday night, I watched an absolute showstopper performance at the Opéra Garnier. From the magnificent chandeliers to the soaring acoustics, every element is designed for ballet - an experience that transcends mere performance and soars into the realm of true art.

The costumes, my dears! Pure artistic masterpieces, shimmering with elegance and vibrant hues - a perfect blend of classical artistry and modern trends. I'm already picturing myself incorporating some of these stunning designs into my own tutu creations!

The Power of the Pink Tutu

I've always said, wearing a pink tutu is more than just an outfit, it’s an expression. It’s a symbol of confidence, whimsy and the pursuit of joy. And let me tell you, my pink tutu has made a splash in Paris! I’ve been stopping Parisians in their tracks! The looks of sheer joy on their faces are infectious! I can practically see a new Parisian style trend brewing – pink tutus and berets, it’s going to be huge! It’s the most fun way to make an entrance and get a glimpse of people’s reaction. It's like the world stops for a few seconds just to smile.

This adventure is just beginning, my loves, and there's so much more to explore! Next week's blog will be bursting with stories from the beautiful Montmartre district - more fashion, culture and definitely more pink tutu sightings!

Until then, stay sparkly and stay fabulous!

Love,

Emma xx

P.S. Did you know that July 27th was International Zebra Day! Just thought it was too fun of a coincidence not to share! 😉
