Pink Tutu Blog: Paris โ Post 717 โ 21st September 2013 โ Bonjour from the City of Lights!
Bonjour, my darlings! This week's Pink Tutu Blog finds me in the heart of Paris, that most magical of cities! I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be back here. The energy, the atmosphere, the sheer romance โ Paris always has a way of making my heart skip a beat, especially in a vibrant pink tutu.
Speaking of vibrant pink, did I tell you I found the most exquisite new tutu this week in Covent Garden? It's a swirling masterpiece of the finest silk and tulle, the colour of blush-tinted candy floss โ just divine! Naturally, I had to break it in with a special performance at the Royal Opera House.
My journey here on the Eurostar was just as magical as Paris itself. I boarded the train from London's St. Pancras station, the air already filled with a continental air of elegance. As the countryside whizzed by, my imagination raced with dreams of grand Parisian boulevards and secret cobblestone streets. Of course, my travelling companion, a pink-tinted cashmere blanket, was nestled snugly on my lap. Comfort and style are always paramount, even on a Eurostar voyage!
This week, Paris has already spoilt me rotten. Yesterday, I waltzed through the streets, the autumn leaves rustling beneath my tutu. The Champs-Elysees felt like a grand stage for a dazzling performance! I felt a thrill run through me as I took in the iconic Eiffel Tower, the sunlight sparkling off its metallic frame, the quintessential symbol of Parisian magic.
For a young ballet dancer like myself, this trip is a dream come true. This weekend, I'm absolutely over the moon to be attending a performance at the Paris Opera, my first time at the famed Palais Garnier. My friend Elodie, a professional ballerina with the Paris Opera, even promised me a sneak peek behind the scenes! I just know it's going to be absolutely divine. Elodie also swore she'd introduce me to some fantastic Parisian designers, so naturally, I packed my largest pink suitcase.
For those of you who haven't visited, Paris truly lives up to its reputation. It's the epitome of romantic sophistication, with hidden Parisian cafes filled with chatter and the scent of coffee, charming boutiques displaying the latest in fashion, and the rhythmic thrum of artistic life everywhere you go.
You might think I'm being a little frivolous, but I find a pink tutu can turn even the simplest cafe stop into a fairytale. As I sipped my cafรฉ au lait and watched the world go by, my vibrant pink tutu became a conversation starter, drawing curious glances and sparking laughter. Just imagine: even a casual afternoon becomes a captivating dance routine. And really, what's a Parisian adventure without a touch of enchantment?
Now, I must admit, one of my absolute favourite things to do in Paris is wandering through the stunningly beautiful shops and soaking up the style that defines this incredible city. It seems like every street corner is a treasure trove of fabulous fashion โ haute couture, charming vintage boutiques, chic accessory shops... you name it! I even picked up a delicate vintage hat for a fraction of the price of one back in England, a delightful bargain that fits my style perfectly! (I'll be sharing a little more about the hats and my favourite Parisian finds on the blog next week!)
I truly believe that a good tutu can transform any Parisian adventure. As I strut through the Louvre in my swirling tutu, it adds a touch of playfulness to the solemn ambiance of masterpieces, or creates a little theatrical sparkle as I queue for a croissant. It's about injecting a bit of whimsical fun and joie de vivre into my explorations.
Paris and ballet โ two passions I cherish with all my heart. But as I say every week, my ultimate dream is to see everyone in a pink tutu โ embracing the joy and lightness of dance and letting their inner ballerina shine through!
Keep watching for the next Pink Tutu Blog!
Bisous from the City of Lights!
