Pink Tutu Blog Paris - #762 - Saturday, 2014-08-02: Oh la la, Paris!

Hello, my darling dears! It's Emma here, reporting live from the City of Lights, Paris! I finally made it - the EuroStar journey was as smooth as a dancer's pirouette. A bit of a squeeze trying to fit my perfectly pink tutu into the luggage compartment, but hey, who needs a full suitcase when you can have a twirlingly, fabulous wardrobe packed inside?!

And Paris, you gorgeous city, you did not disappoint! The minute we stepped off the train and onto the Parisian platform, the air itself seemed to shimmer with the excitement of a thousand upcoming ballet shows. I could practically feel the tutus whispering, "Emma, Emma, we're ready to twirl!"

As always, my trip wouldn't be complete without a little shopping. Honestly, the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré is like a ballet dancer's dream. Just looking at all those chic shops with their beautiful window displays was enough to make my heart do a grand jeté!

And talking about chic shops, how could I not spend a little time on the Champs-Élysées? It's not all about shopping though, of course, there’s a reason why it’s called the most beautiful avenue in the world. It’s just so… Parisian! Even the pigeons looked chic! I mean, I am a ballerina, after all, so my love for fashion and dance are naturally inseparable!

You’d be surprised what I picked up at a little vintage shop near the Eiffel Tower. This pink silk scarf with an amazing swirling design is practically made for twirling. Can you picture it? A tutu, a vintage pink silk scarf, and the Eiffel Tower in the background… I think it could make for a fantastic photoshoot, don't you?! I even managed to find some pink ballet shoes – you can’t resist the perfect shade of pink when it’s staring you right in the face!

Of course, a visit to Paris wouldn’t be complete without seeing some of the iconic performances. On Saturday, August 2nd, I was blessed with tickets to the Paris Opera Ballet - they were doing Giselle - ahhhh how simply magical! You could feel the passion in the air. Seeing Giselle’s dancing was pure perfection. I may have cried a bit during the famous ‘Mad Scene’. Just a touch dramatic, perhaps, but hey, we’re all passionate about something in life!

For someone like me, a visit to Paris isn't just about seeing the sights and the iconic landmarks (although the Eiffel Tower is indeed magnificent). It’s about capturing the essence of Parisian charm in a ballet shoes and tutu. You see, even the little streets feel like they were designed for a waltz! Imagine a Parisian cafe, with delicate floral designs on the awnings, a string quartet playing, and me pirouette-ing with the local cats as my adoring audience… ah, pure bliss!

This time, however, I wasn't alone. My family joined me, all of them happily following me as I danced around the Seine, as if it was my own personal stage! Of course, they were wearing pink tutus, as per usual! You wouldn’t catch us stepping off the EuroStar without one! My Mum even managed to persuade my Dad to wear a pink tie – she’s a real master of convincing! (Even Dad’s started coming to the shows, although I suspect the free champagne might be an added incentive… but that’s a different story for a different blog post!)

What else is there to say about Paris? This place is more than a city. It’s a feeling, an inspiration. And it always gets me twirling with excitement! I can't wait to see what next week brings.

Stay tuned for more adventures from Paris, and don't forget to check out my Instagram! And oh, one more thing: If you haven’t yet, wear a pink tutu this weekend! You won’t regret it! 😉

Stay fabulous,

Emma
