Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post #784: A Whirlwind Weekend in the City of Lights! (2015-01-03)
Hello darlings! Emma here, your very own tutu-wearing Parisian princess, reporting live from the City of Lights! It's been a whirlwind weekend so far, full of fashion, frolics and of course, the fabulous Parisian ballet scene. Remember that little trip I mentioned in my last post? Well, the secret is out: I'm in Paris! I took the EuroStar from London - what a joy it is to travel by train! That journey, whizzing through the countryside and arriving at Gare du Nord with all its grandeur and hustle, already set the mood for the trip.
You know, I have this theory (and I bet some of you feel the same) - sometimes the anticipation is just as important as the destination. That first whiff of Paris, the sound of French chatter mingling with the clanging of the Métro, it was intoxicating!
So, what happened on this Saturday, my first day in the capital of chic?
A Ballet Bound with Paris Ballet Opera
Well, let’s start with the most magical bit: the Paris Opera Ballet! A show was just what I needed after that journey and to settle in properly. Tonight was "Giselle," a romantic tragedy about the beauty of love and the dangers of delusion. I don’t think I've ever felt so swept away by the story and the stunning choreography. The Parisian ballet is just breathtaking - so powerful, so expressive, with an intensity and precision that sends shivers down your spine!
The Grand Opera House is stunning, isn’t it? Those chandeliers, those sweeping staircases, it’s all a bit fairytale, a real dream come true for any aspiring ballerina like myself! Imagine, this gorgeous, grand place, filled with people from all walks of life, all coming together to experience the wonder of dance! It gives me chills!
A Tutu Twirl Around the Shops
Now, after the show, the first stop had to be a little retail therapy! Just a tiny stroll from the opera, there are so many tempting shops in the Opera district, the chic Parisian boutiques are full of stylish delights. I popped into a couple of them to pick up some Parisian finds for my wardrobe. Some stylish pieces I wouldn’t be able to find back home! Pink, of course, played a major part in my purchases, from delicate silk scarves to a beautiful Parisian hat. (That hat, I must tell you, will become my new Parisian signature, and it is simply perfection!).
The one thing I adore about Parisian shopping is the incredible window displays! Imagine all those dazzling outfits, carefully displayed like pieces of art! So much inspiration and fashion on full display, it's almost impossible not to feel inspired! I took pictures of all my favourites to share with you later on the blog, of course!
Dinner with a View: The Top of the Eiffel Tower!
What is a trip to Paris without the Eiffel Tower? The city lights twinkled beneath me, making me feel like I was floating above the clouds. We enjoyed a delicious French dinner (with a glass of champagne, naturally!) in one of the restaurants on the top floor. I have to admit, that moment up there on the tower, looking over all the beautiful twinkling lights of Paris, was something I'll remember forever. It’s a view that captures the magic and romance of the city. And the photo I managed to snap, with the tower behind me and me spinning in my pink tutu, well, let’s just say it's destined to be framed and on display in my flat in Derbyshire.
And Tomorrow… A Ballet Class, The Louvre & More Parisian Delights!
Tomorrow's another day full of adventures. I have already booked a ballet class with a lovely French studio - a bit of an early start, but I think that's going to be so much fun. The instructor's French accent will probably add an extra flair to my dancing. (Oh, the irony! A Derbyshire girl taking a French ballet class, what could be more perfect!). Then we’ll explore more of Paris and soak up the atmosphere. I want to visit The Louvre and admire its incredible works of art, maybe see the Mona Lisa!
And you know, as I am sitting here, planning tomorrow’s adventures, I think it’s fair to say: the magic of Paris, the excitement of dancing, the fun of exploring...it’s all starting to sink in. It's amazing what just a few hours in this magical city can do! Remember, my dears, I am going to continue to bring you along with me every step of the way! So stay tuned!
Until next time,
Your Parisian Tutu Princess, Emma
P.S. And hey, I’ve been thinking! Maybe you should join the pink tutu movement while I'm off exploring the city of lights. You’d be surprised how a bit of pink tutu can brighten your day (or maybe that's just me being ridiculously enthusiastic)! What do you think?
