Pink Tutu Paris – Post #794: Oh Là Là, It's Paris!
Saturday 14th March 2015
Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm in Paris! 🇫🇷 The City of Lights is calling, and I'm ready to answer! After weeks of planning and prance-practicing (yes, even tutu-clad ballerinas need a little rehearsal for city strolls), I'm finally here. And I'm wearing pink, of course – what else?! A gloriously fluffy pink tutu with my signature cherry blossom print top. Perfect for a day of exploring this enchanting city!
You all know I adore travelling by train. There’s just something magical about watching the landscape whizz past, the sun dappling through the windows, and the excitement bubbling up inside. My Eurostar journey was pure bliss. I indulged in some guilt-free pastries, watched a chick flick (no judging! Sometimes you need a good rom-com) and dreamt up the outfits I’d be sporting while strolling the Champs-Élysées.
Speaking of dreams… Paris! You are everything I imagined and more! The cobbled streets are lined with charming shops brimming with Parisian chic. Oh, the fashion! The beautiful scarves, hats, and oh, those dresses! I could spend hours browsing these charming boutiques, picking up a little something for my wardrobe and dreaming up future outfit combinations for my pink tutu. But let's not forget, I'm not just here for the shopping! Paris is a treasure trove of art, culture, and ballet, and I'm here to soak it all up!
Ballet Delights
Yesterday was a whirlwind! I started my day at the iconic Palais Garnier – the Opera House is even more impressive in real life, just wait until you see the pictures! The sheer grandeur is breathtaking, and the ornate architecture is just exquisite! The highlight of the day was seeing the most gorgeous ballet performance I’ve ever witnessed, the classic 'La Bayadère.' The artistry and precision of the dancers were captivating. It made my heart sing and my tutu practically twirl off my hips with excitement!
Pink Tutu On The Seine
Today is all about Parisian charm. My plan? To start with a delightful picnic by the Seine. You bet, I packed my own snacks, (I can't trust anyone but myself when it comes to my sweet tooth! My mum's raspberry cake is my current favourite, you should try it!), with the Seine’s views of the Eiffel Tower for my perfect setting. I mean, how divine?! And then, it's off to a performance at the Théâtre du Châtelet – this beautiful venue, nestled in the heart of the city, is hosting a ballet performance that I simply can’t miss.
Speaking of performances... did I mention my recent trip to Derbyshire? I'm absolutely in love with my local ballet school – so passionate, and their recent rendition of "Swan Lake" was just spectacular. The talented young dancers were phenomenal. Of course, I got all dressed up in my best pink tutu and cherry blossom blouse – what else is a ballerina girl to do?
I'll be sure to share some more about my adventures soon, from Parisian cafes to breathtaking art museums and perhaps even a new dance studio in the heart of Paris. Keep those eyes glued to the www.pink-tutu.com website – I’ll be updating with all the fabulous Paris stories as soon as I can.
Au revoir, my dear readers!
Lots of pink love,
Emma
The Magic Of ParisSo here I am, three days in Paris, and this city is already casting its magical spell on me. My heart swells with joy every time I step out of my little Airbnb (charming, with a tiny balcony, perfect for sipping French coffee!) into the hustle and bustle of the Parisian streets.
Every day is a new discovery! The other day I went shopping, of course, what else is a ballerina girl to do in Paris?! But not just any shopping, oh no! My mission? To find a pair of elegant ballerina flats, perfect for all my Parisian strolls. And I did! In a little boutique tucked away on a cobblestone lane, I found a pair of delicate pale pink ballet flats – with an adorable bow on top, no less. Perfect for adding a little Parisian touch to my outfit, or so I think!
Exploring The City of Lights
After a satisfying afternoon of shopping and trying on fabulous outfits, I was off to discover the Louvre Museum. A feast for the eyes, with breathtaking artwork on every corner. Mona Lisa was everything I imagined and more. But what truly captivated me was the "Winged Victory of Samothrace", so magnificent, powerful, and beautifully timeless.
My next stop was a wander through the beautiful Jardin des Tuileries. This little haven of tranquility is just what my tired feet needed. I found a charming bench, tucked away by a flowering cherry blossom tree. I had a little picnic – homemade raspberry cake, of course! - and then did some impromptu ballerina stretches! Of course, I got a little too carried away with the “arabesques,” and almost knocked over a passer-by. Whoops!
Parisian evenings are truly magical. Last night I discovered a lovely cafe – tucked away down a side street, the perfect spot to enjoy a pot of tea, and people-watch as the city comes alive. They have the most beautiful vintage French decor and an abundance of books – it was almost like stepping into another era!
Parisian Elegance
Speaking of elegance… My ballet lessons at the Studio de la Danse are just incredible. I'm so glad I took the leap of faith to join. The atmosphere is incredibly warm, with passionate teachers who share their love of ballet. I even learned a new exercise routine! They are so focused on the proper ballet posture and technique, but also add such fun and stylish elements to the movement. You’d never believe I've just discovered street ballet!
It's incredible! Think balletic grace meets urban dynamism - a celebration of the city through expressive movements, with some serious sassy steps mixed in. And don't get me started on the Parisian ballerina outfits! I swear, I see such elegance, with simple but bold moves. It’s made me want to amp up my fashion game!
This weekend I'm thinking of joining a performance! The artistic director is incredible, so welcoming and encourages us all to let our bodies tell stories. It's all about having fun with a touch of creativity and artistry – I’ve got my pink tutu all prepped and ready for the performance. Can't wait to show everyone how a ballerina can rock street ballet, right here in the City of Lights.
But more on that in my next blog post – there's so much more to tell about my Paris adventure.
Stay tuned!
Until next Saturday,
Emma
