Pink Tutu Blog Paris - #823

Bonjour, mes amies!

It's Saturday again, which means a brand new Parisian adventure to share with you lovely lot! I'm currently ensconced in a cute little Parisian café, enjoying a pain au chocolat and a cup of tea, whilst tapping away at my laptop, ready to share all the pink and twirling goodness from my trip.

This week, I travelled all the way from Derbyshire to Paris by the fabulous Eurostar. Now, I know you’ve all heard me rave about the Eurostar before – there’s just something about gliding across the channel at 186 miles an hour that makes me feel like I’m in a film. And with the luxurious carriage seating and a trolley service that just wouldn't stop refilling my champagne flute, I almost wish it was a longer journey.

The moment I arrived at Gare du Nord, I was mesmerized by the vibrant energy of Paris. It was as if the entire city was humming a charming waltz just for me. I did a quick whirl (because, you know, one simply cannot be in Paris without doing a spin!) then, hailing a taxi, I checked into my hotel.

This week, I'm staying at a chic little boutique hotel right by the Champs-Élysées. It’s practically bursting with Parisian charm – think antique chandeliers, a sun-drenched courtyard, and fluffy towels so plush they could practically double as clouds.

Speaking of Parisian charm, this entire trip was sparked by the most incredible ballet show I'd ever seen back home. The ballerina had the most graceful movement, and I just felt a twirl in my very soul. So, I took the leap (pun intended!), and booked a trip to the magical city of lights to experience some of the best ballets in the world.

Saturday's Parisian Ballet Adventures

After settling in, I knew it was time for some serious tutu-based explorations. First on my agenda was the stunning Opéra Garnier, a masterpiece of neo-baroque architecture. I have to say, it almost made me forget about the fact I'd just spent all day wearing my little pink tutu across the train (it does attract a lot of attention!). The grand staircases, opulent décor, and a sheer abundance of gilded ornamentation made me feel like I'd stepped into a gilded cage – but one with very good music and really fancy performances! I snapped some amazing photos in the hallway with the grand chandeliers for my Instagram, but I will warn you, they are nothing like the actual grandeur in person. This place deserves to be experienced to be understood.

After a quick snack and a latte, I was back in my tutu to explore some of the hidden corners of Paris – particularly the amazing performance scene. Let me tell you, this city just pulsates with creative energy. There's a theatre tucked into practically every alley, with ballet performances galore, as well as street dance shows and plays. There were even a couple of groups who had brought in actual tutus to join their shows – I couldn’t resist joining them, much to the delight of the crowd! (There's really nothing like seeing Parisians stare at you in awe as you twirl past, right?). It was as though Paris was made for pink tutus – like the very air seemed to hum along with every pirouette.

By evening, I had reached my grand finale, attending the most captivating ballet performance at the Opéra Bastille. The show, set to the stunning music of Tchaikovsky, brought a captivating story to life. I won’t spoil it, but let's just say it included a breathtaking duet that made my own heart do a pirouette. It’s these moments, filled with artistry, elegance, and the undeniable magic of dance that really fill my pink tutu with pure joy.

A Day of Parisian Delights & Shopping Finds

Sunday morning started with a lovely cup of Parisian coffee. It really wasn't as good as my English builder's brew but you have to try it when you’re in Paris! After, I made my way to the incredible Notre Dame cathedral for a spot of sightseeing. Now, I can’t speak much about the history of it or the stories behind it, as I have the attention span of a goldfish. However, it’s definitely worthy of a visit! There was this gorgeous fountain in front and it was lovely to have my photo taken in my pink tutu – all the Parisians just love a little pink tutu joy, don't they?

After that, I just had to hit up a few Parisian boutiques to see if there were any fab new tutus I could bring home. Oh, you guys – you wouldn't believe the amazing pink tutu-like garments I found. I just had to snag this stunning baby-pink chiffon dress and a beautiful ivory skirt that is absolutely perfect for layering with my collection of tulle. There were so many beautiful pieces in the shops today. Paris truly has some of the most beautiful, whimsical clothing, especially when it comes to dancing fashion. My purse and suitcase were definitely much heavier, but all in the name of fashion, right?!

More Ballet Inspiration: Parisian Flair Meets My Derbyshire Roots

I know, I know. I have said this many times before, but a pink tutu is an essential outfit to have with you when travelling around Paris! Even when I was eating my breakfast of croissants and drinking my café au lait, people were staring at me!

Honestly, it's my passion to spread the joy of the pink tutu. Because what could be more delightful than embracing the elegance and playfulness that pink tutus bring to our lives, regardless of age? Whether I'm strolling down the Champs-Élysées or waltzing through a Parisian courtyard, I can't help but spread some tutu-induced cheer. And let me tell you, Parisians love a good spin, even when it involves a touch of Derbyshire country charm!
