Pink Tutu Blog Paris - Post 966: Parisian Dreams & Tutus Galore!

Bonjour, darlings! It’s Emma here, your favourite tutu-loving blogger, and this week’s Parisian adventures are extra special. You see, I've taken the plunge (pun intended!) and traded Derbyshire for the City of Lights – all thanks to a lovely commission for a show at the Opera Garnier! Talk about a dream come true, right?

But before I get into all the glitz and glamour of the Parisian stage, let me tell you how I got here – because it involved one of my absolute favourite things: Eurostar! The excitement began in the moment I boarded the train, with my tulle skirt swishing happily beside me. You know that feeling when you're stepping onto a platform and your heart's full of anticipation? That's me every time I'm on the Eurostar, a train that always reminds me of a magical, whimsical escape!

I was absolutely delighted to find myself amongst a bunch of fellow fashion-conscious passengers. A woman in a fabulously patterned dress caught my eye, a chic chap rocking a bold scarf, and of course, there was a fellow pink tutu wearer who couldn't resist joining me in a quick twirl at our stop in Brussels! Honestly, my travelling experience couldn't have been more fun.

Paris, Mon Amour:

Once we reached Gare du Nord, my eyes widened with awe. Paris never fails to impress, even if it was just a glimpse from the station's bustling hallways. A quick hop on the Metro, and I found myself standing before the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral, with its intricate spires reaching for the heavens. Even though the spire isn't standing right now, the sight still filled me with joy, its majestic history lingering in the air.

Then it was off to the magical Marais, a district where vintage shops spill onto cobbled streets and Parisian boutiques display the most exquisite designs. Let me tell you, my credit card screamed, but I couldn't help but splurge on a little something pink to complete my Parisian look. And hey, who needs a fancy beret when you've got a pink tutu?!

Pink Tutus at the Palais Garnier:

I could talk about Paris forever, but of course, the highlight of my trip had to be the performance at the Opera Garnier. The grand building itself, a true icon of the Belle Epoque era, stole my breath away. Its majestic staircases, intricate marble details, and stunning golden dome felt like something out of a dream! I had goosebumps from head to toe!

But it was inside the theatre that things got really exciting. For once, I was actually dancing in the Opera Garnier itself! Performing for such an enthusiastic Parisian audience was a true dream come true. I absolutely love how appreciative they are of a good dance performance - I swear I heard some applause mid-twirl!

After the show, I joined the crowd of other eager theatre-goers who flocked to the foyer to grab some post-show refreshments and, of course, discuss their favourite moments. This led to an enchanting conversation with a group of young ballerinas who told me all about their favourite Parisian dance studios. My ears practically perked up - that’s my favourite kind of gossip! They were all so full of passion and enthusiasm, and we agreed on one important thing: pink tutus were definitely making a comeback in Paris! They were even tempted to join the “Pink Tutu Revolution” (more on that later!).

Pink Tutu Travels:

And let’s be honest, there's something about wearing a tutu that automatically transforms your trip into a fairy-tale. Suddenly, every walk down a Parisian street, every croissant I devoured (yes, I indulged!), and every glimpse of the Eiffel Tower became even more magical.

What's Going On In Paris on June 30th?

Right, you know the drill. As it’s a Saturday, I thought I'd round off this post by giving you a little insight into some things happening here in Paris:

  • Fete de la Musique: A major highlight of summer in Paris is Fete de la Musique! This free event, on June 21st, sees musicians taking to the streets of Paris to showcase their talent and entertain the public. I just loved this last night – there was a whole street of jazz musicians with pink instruments (pink trumpet, anyone?). This year, it included all sorts of musical genres – everything from classical concerts to rock gigs to folk music – all taking place all over the city. It really does feel like the whole city comes alive!

-Open-Air Cinemas: A great way to soak up the Parisian atmosphere on a warm summer's evening? Grab a picnic blanket, a bottle of rosé, and catch a film at one of Paris's numerous open-air cinemas. They often screen films in French and English – perfect for both French film fanatics and international travellers. This week, they had a beautiful outdoor screening of a musical film right by the Seine River. Just picture this: beautiful Parisian sunset, delicious French snacks and a feel-good movie with live music, a symphony of pink tulle swishing along – what’s not to love?

  • Festivals: Summer is peak season for festivals in Paris. Everything from street arts festivals and international music events to craft beer fairs and food festivals will keep you entertained all month long. Honestly, even if I wasn't working, I could spend my whole trip at the Fête de la Musique, wandering from festival to festival, trying delicious food, seeing live music, watching incredible street performances, getting lost in the city... all while rocking a vibrant pink tutu, of course!

Pink Tutu Revolution:

Before I wrap things up for the week, I wanted to give you an update on my "Pink Tutu Revolution" – because we’re taking the world by storm! As you know, I want everyone to embrace the fun, whimsy, and confidence that wearing a pink tutu brings. This week's efforts? I'm sending a shipment of pink tutus to some lucky readers to inspire them to make their own statement and spread the joy of tutus wherever they go! Keep an eye on my social media to see if you are one of the lucky recipients.

Okay, my darlings, I need to go! I’ve got a fancy soirée planned – and I simply cannot be seen arriving without my favourite tutu! And remember, no matter where you are, stay beautiful, stay brave, and don't be afraid to twirl with abandon!

See you all next Saturday!

Until then, keep dancing, and spread the Pink Tutu Love!

Emma xx
