Pink Tutu Travels: Paris! (Post #1025) 🩰🇫🇷
Bonjour, darlings! It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, back from another whirlwind adventure! This week, I'm bubbling over with Parisian joy – I'm in the City of Lights, baby! ✨
This time, my trusty tutu-covered suitcase rolled onto the Eurostar for a super-speedy trip to Paris. I love the romance of a train journey, the gentle swaying rhythm, and the view flashing past. A girl can get some serious work done on a train – I was sketching my newest tutu designs and brainstorming outfits for my upcoming performance at the Derby Theatre! (You know me – always working, even on holiday!).
So, here’s the lowdown on my first Parisian escapade! I'm making the most of every minute. I've been spinning like a dervish in shops, sightseeing like a tourist on a mission, and indulging in a little bit of everything this city has to offer – and of course, soaking up the culture, oh-la-la!
Day 1: Tutu-ing around Montmartre
Right, the minute I touched down at Gare du Nord, I felt a sense of utter bliss. It was time to break out my favourite "Bonjour Paris" tee, grab a croissant (of course!), and hop on the metro – because girl, a Parisian adventure begins at the heart of it all!
My first stop was Montmartre, the legendary artists’ quarter – an explosion of colours and creativity. You wouldn't believe how many incredible street artists I found here! My favourite piece? A portrait of a dancer, of course! It reminded me of why I love expressing myself through movement. It was also an excellent place to snag some truly unique Parisian accessories – I've added a chic, beret-inspired feather to my tutu! (Spoiler alert, it’s pink!).
After an afternoon of sketching (I must recreate that ballerina piece – imagine the dramatic blush pink chiffon!) and some delicious crepes at a cute little café, we spent the evening enjoying a performance at the Moulin Rouge. Oh my goodness! The dancers were incredible! And can we talk about the outfits?! 🤯 Sparkling costumes, feathers, sequined dresses – a real feast for the eyes, all wrapped in a glamorous show. I'm adding "Moulin Rouge" to the top of my inspiration board!
Day 2: Shopping & Seine Stroll
Okay, now here’s the thing about Paris – it’s the shopping capital of the world! I'm not talking about any ordinary shopping, either! This is haute couture, fashion at its finest, and my little pink-loving heart is bursting with excitement! From Galeries Lafayette, a paradise of high-end designer boutiques, to the trendy boutiques in the Marais district, there's something for every sartorial dream. I may or may not have splurged on a silk scarf to wear as a hair tie for my new pink tutu performance! Shh… 🤫
No trip to Paris is complete without a cruise down the Seine River. The majestic Eiffel Tower as a backdrop, the romantic Parisian bridges, and a glass of bubbly in hand – oh, how divine! I felt like I was straight out of a film. We had a delicious dinner aboard the boat, enjoying French classics – cheese, wine, and delectable pastries. The sunset on the Seine was a sight to behold!
Day 3: Ballet & Bistro Bliss
Paris is a dancer's paradise – from the legendary Palais Garnier, where I indulged in a magnifique ballet performance (a modern take on "La Bayadère" – wow!), to the delightful ballet schools tucked away on cobblestone streets. I took a drop-in class – an opportunity to immerse myself in the artistry of Parisian dance. (Spoiler alert! There’s a ballet school I’m keen to get a regular spot in.)
For dinner, we opted for a cosy little bistro, tucking into steak frites and sipping on some French wine, under the glow of twinkling bistro lights. Charming and perfectly Parisian, this is definitely how we’ll remember our final night in the city.
Coming Home:
Paris, you've stolen a piece of my heart, as always! As I boarded the Eurostar home, I was filled with a bittersweet pang – the joy of an amazing journey juxtaposed with the desire to return to your magical streets as soon as possible! I've got some seriously epic Parisian fashion inspiration tucked away – just wait until you see the outfits I’ve got planned for the Derby Theatre show. 🤫
This week, I've been soaking in everything the city has to offer: from street art and ballet to fashion, the Seine River, and, of course, pink! This trip, though, reminded me once more of the magic that lies within myself, my creativity, and my drive to dance. Remember, darlings, wear your tutu with confidence! The world is your stage. 💖
And stay tuned, as next week, I’ll be talking about the Derby Theatre performance, with a special behind-the-scenes peek at my pink tutu designs for the show!
Catch you next Saturday!
Yours truly,
Emma (in her pinkest tutu ever!)
