Bonjour from the City of Lights! 💖 🩰 🇫🇷
Welcome to Pink Tutu Blog Paris post number 1036! As usual, I'm your bubbly ballerina, Emma, coming to you live from the romantic capital of the world – Paris! I arrived here by Eurostar earlier this week, a journey I always relish – there's something so utterly magical about chugging through the French countryside, watching the scenery shift and change before my eyes.
My Paris trip has been packed with so many fabulous activities – there's been dancing, shopping, eating, admiring, and even a tiny bit of culture! (Shh, don't tell anyone I said that last part 😉) I love exploring a new city, and there's no place in the world that quite captures my heart like Paris. The chic cafes, the beautiful boulevards, the impossibly charming streets – it all feels so wonderfully romantic!
Saturday 2nd November – what a perfect day it's been! I started the day with a leisurely breakfast at Cafe de Flore – such a beautiful place to indulge in delicious pastries and coffee. Afterwards, I strolled down rue de Seine and admired the art galleries and quirky boutiques lining the street.
Afternoon at the Palais Garnier
Later in the afternoon, I popped into a charming tea shop (the most adorable little corner place with vintage furniture, teacups, and china ornaments) for a lovely afternoon tea, complete with a dainty sandwich and mini Victoria sponge cake. It felt like a little slice of England in the heart of Paris!
Speaking of England, my ballet performance this week brought in a very lovely amount which enabled me to treat myself to a fantastic ticket for the evening show at the Palais Garnier – it's breathtaking, this place. From the golden-gilded balconies and opulent staircase to the famous red velvet seats, I felt like I was transported back to a bygone era. And then there's the dance floor, the most exquisite example of Art Nouveau style – truly stunning!
This evening, I was treated to "La Sylphide" - I have to admit I have never seen it before! It was utterly charming and a perfect piece for the setting. The dancing, as you can imagine, was phenomenal - graceful, delicate and captivating. A wonderful way to end such a Parisian day!
Shopping, darling, shopping
Now, I couldn’t possibly write a post about my Paris trip without mentioning the shopping, darling, the shopping! You'll have to trust me when I say that the fashion scene in Paris is an explosion of color, creativity, and just sheer joy.
My first stop was a delightful little shop in the Le Marais district, which had the most gorgeous selection of Parisian-chic clothes - all with a hint of vintage style that I adored. I snagged a gorgeous silk scarf, which I already wore the next day to a coffee morning at a chic café overlooking the Seine. The second day saw me explore the Left Bank boutiques, discovering a gorgeous antique lace shawl that's perfect for wearing with my favorite tutus (perhaps over a sequined leotard? Hmm!). And of course, I simply had to treat myself to a visit to a beautiful boutique selling everything in shades of pink!
And speaking of tutus, let’s face it, this is a fashion essential! Don’t think that Parisian chic is all about berets and long skirts. The Parisians are all about bold colors and strong, confident choices, and wearing a tutu in Paris feels perfectly acceptable (because, frankly, it should!). My latest pink tulle confection has even caused a little bit of a stir at the hotel, which is very close to the Gare du Nord. You'd be surprised how many people have asked to take selfies with me - and of course, I've said "Oui" to every single one. It’s all part of the fun!
Feeling at home
You know, what's amazing about Paris is that despite feeling like you’re on a grand adventure, you can easily create this feeling of “home away from home.” And I've certainly managed to do this! From indulging in my morning coffee to discovering new and exciting places to shop and dance, Paris makes me feel at home in a way no other city can. Perhaps it's the charm of the cafes, the friendly Parisian people, or maybe it's the fact that a good tutus looks just as amazing in Paris as it does in Derby.
I can already see why many fall in love with Paris and then spend a lifetime returning for another taste of its magical energy. I don't think anyone can spend time in Paris without feeling like they've truly lived, without feeling truly inspired. And maybe, just maybe, inspired to try something new. Like putting on a pink tutu, perhaps.
I leave you with a final little snippet of Paris magic. While strolling down the Champs-Elysees the other day, I saw a little girl with her parents. They were stopped in front of the Eiffel Tower – and the little girl, she was wearing a pink tutu! Oh, my heart, it was such a delightful sight.
Well, darlings, that’s it from Paris for this week! Catch you all next Saturday for another installment of Pink Tutu Blog. Until then, remember, cherish your moments, embrace the colour pink, and dare to be a bit extra! Bisous! 💖
