Pink Tutu Travels: Bonjour, Paris! (Post #1055)

Saturday, 14th March 2020

Oh, darling readers, I'm absolutely positively bursting with excitement! I'm in Paris! That's right, this pink tutu-wearing ballerina is currently taking in all the magic that Paris has to offer.

I'm on my tenth Parisian escapade (that’s right, ten!) and every time, my heart sings with delight! The city just holds such a special place in my soul. From the impossibly chic boulevards to the charming little cafés, and let's not forget the mind-blowing museums and historical monuments, Paris just knows how to cast a spell.

Speaking of spells, this adventure began in my lovely hometown of Derbyshire. I hopped on a super speedy Eurostar, and with a touch of magic and a lot of Parisian flair, found myself at the Gare du Nord. I am so very lucky to travel this way! My ballet performances have helped me save enough for these escapades, and I must say, there is truly no better way to travel than on the Eurostar.

I am travelling solo this time. That’s right, no chaperone, no husband, no children. Just my beloved pink tutu and my ever-reliable notebook for recording all of my musings and fashion discoveries.

I decided to embrace the Parisian elegance, I picked up the prettiest pink coat at a local boutique in Derbyshire. The fur trimmed collar felt incredibly luxurious and it goes so well with the delicate pale pink sequins and lace trim on my favourite ballerina tutu. I don’t normally take a lot of luggage on my travels, but my little French style companion simply cannot be left behind.

And the pink tutu, it certainly hasn't disappointed. As I stepped onto the platform at Gare du Nord, a group of street performers were creating quite the scene! I slipped in seamlessly to their act and ended up swirling and pirouetteing in the most delightful way. I always feel so at home amongst the other artists on the streets. They make the city sparkle.

Once I'd completed my little performance and given everyone a giggle or two, it was time for my grand entrance into the hotel! Now, the Hôtel de la Paix is something truly special! Let’s just say my tutu, and I have settled into a beautiful suite fit for a queen. The rooms are absolutely divine – a symphony of classic French elegance mixed with the sparkle of the latest Parisian trends. I think the French know something about luxury! The staff even left a pink tutu-themed macaroon as a welcome gift! That’s Paris for you, always making me feel special.

As soon as I arrived, it was time for the iconic walk to the Louvre Museum. Just me, my tutu, the sunshine (Yes, I did find sunshine in Paris) and a pair of rather snazzy red boots. I just couldn’t resist adding a touch of colour to the stunning architectural backdrop of the city. Even the other tourists looked quite envious.

Naturally, my Parisian tour had to include a visit to the Opéra Garnier. You know, with my background in ballet and love of classical music, how could I resist! This beautiful building really takes the breath away! It was almost like stepping into a beautiful fairytale with exquisite detailing, dazzling gold, and plush red velvet seats. The perfect setting for an afternoon of dreaming of all things theatrical.

And I'm not done with the ballet, dear readers! This weekend I've booked myself seats at the Paris Opera for the grand spectacle that is Giselle! I can’t wait to witness the artistry and emotion of this legendary ballet on the most stunning stage. I even found an old Parisian book about ballet from a quaint shop near my hotel. It’s full of illustrations and anecdotes. The French really have such a strong appreciation of ballet history. They are very lucky.

And let's be honest, dear readers, no Parisian trip is complete without indulging in some truly spectacular shopping, right? I’ve already been on a little pilgrimage to Galeries Lafayette. The sheer scale of the building makes it an absolute architectural dream! The designer collections were breathtaking and oh, the beauty of it all, was a sea of stunning dresses and accessories. You can just imagine all the fairy-tale magic you can find in Paris. Just don’t forget to stop by the little boutiques, you never know what gorgeous treasures you’ll uncover.

Now, you all know I live for finding beautiful accessories, particularly shoes, right? So, of course, I've ventured down Rue de Rivoli. That little shopping haven really knows how to win a tutu-wearing ballerina over. I picked up a couple of lovely little shoes which really sparkled in the daylight. There’s no place quite like Paris to shop.

Paris just has a way of charming you right off your feet! With its mix of classical elegance, whimsical cafes, charming markets and stunning architectural landmarks, it’s a whirlwind of inspiration that keeps me on my toes. And with every visit, it just keeps getting better!

I'm truly enchanted by Paris. I find so much joy here - in the ballet performances, in the streets buzzing with creativity, and in the city's effortless chic. The next time I visit, you’ll have to wait and see! In the meantime, keep dreaming of tutus, darling readers, keep dreaming of Paris and be sure to join me next Saturday for another Parisian adventure.

See you all then,

Emma
