Pink Tutu Blog Paris - #1073 - Saturday 2020-07-18: Exploring the City of Lights!

Bonjour mes amis! šŸ©°

Itā€™s Emma here, your pink tutu-wearing blogger extraordinaire, and Iā€™m writing to you from the magical city of Paris! This is my third trip to the City of Lights, and every time it just keeps getting more beautiful, more inspiring, and more, wellā€¦ pink! šŸ’–

You know how much I adore train journeys ā€“ the rhythmic clickety-clack of the tracks, the ever-changing landscapes, the opportunity for a spot of reading or, of course, a pink tutu selfie. So it was no surprise that I hopped aboard the EuroStar for this trip, excited for the adventure to begin.

Landing in Paris is always like stepping into a postcard. The Eiffel Tower glittering in the distance, charming cafes buzzing with life, and, most importantly, shops and shops and more shops ā€“ all filled with the most wonderful clothes and accessories! And of course, it wouldnā€™t be a true Pink Tutu adventure without a brand new tutu. I found the most gorgeous blush pink tulle creation at a quaint little boutique in the Marais district, and it just had to come home with me!

A Day of Dancing and Delights

My first day in Paris was all about indulging in my passion: ballet. Itā€™s no secret that Iā€™m a total ballet fanatic, so a visit to the Palais Garnier, home of the Paris Opera, was at the top of my to-do list. I arrived early, dressed in my new tutu (naturally!), ready to soak up the atmosphere before the show. The architecture is just stunning ā€“ grand and imposing, yet elegant and delicate, with a touch of Victorian romance that I absolutely adore.

The eveningā€™s performance was Swan Lake, and it was truly captivating. The dancers moved with such grace and precision, telling the story through their movements. The choreography was mesmerising, and the costumes were a dream in white, with those iconic tutus. My heart swelled with inspiration. Maybe this time I could be the Swan Queen ā€“ at least in my imagination! šŸ˜‰

A Walk Down Fashion Lane

After the ballet, I couldn't resist taking a wander around the chic boutiques and department stores near the opera house. My inner fashionista was in overdrive. From designer handbags to vintage treasures, there were endless delights to be found. I treated myself to a beautiful silk scarf, patterned with a whimsical ballet scene. And how could I resist a pair of delicate pink ballet pumps? They are so comfortable and perfect for strolling around Paris.

Dinner with a View

For dinner, I decided to go all out and chose a restaurant with a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of delicious French rosĆ© and a plate of decadent cheese, watching the city twirl around me under the starry sky ā€“ it was pure magic!

Day 2: Bonjour, Montmartre!

My second day started with a visit to Montmartre, the artistic heart of Paris. I wandered through the winding cobblestone streets, past colourful houses and galleries. I felt like I'd been transported back in time. There were street artists painting on easels, musicians busking on corners, and artists selling their unique wares. And, of course, I took every opportunity for a few tutu twirls in the cobblestone alleys. What's better than a Parisian photoshoot? A tutu-filled one, darling! šŸ’–

The SacrĆ©-Cœur and More TutUs

A visit to Montmartre wouldn't be complete without a stop at the majestic SacrĆ©-Coeur Basilica, a beautiful example of Roman-Byzantine architecture. Its white facade gleams in the sunshine, making it truly unforgettable. After my visit to the basilica, I continued my shopping spree through the Montmartre boutiques. There, amidst the vintage clothes and local artistsā€™ work, I stumbled upon a small shop with the most amazing array of tutus. It was like a pink ballerina's dream come true! I simply couldnā€™t resist. I picked up two gorgeous creations - a sparkly pink tulle tutu with rainbow accents, perfect for dancing in the streets, and a floaty pastel pink tulle tutu with layers and layers of fabric. Itā€™s already on my blog's list of ā€œTop 5 Paris Purchasesā€!

Bonjour, Eiffel Tower

The day's highlight, of course, had to be the Eiffel Tower! I took the lift to the top and just gazed in awe at the breathtaking panorama of Paris laid out before me. You truly can see everything, from the majestic SacrƩ-Coeur to the grand Parisian buildings to the rolling green landscape beyond. The view was spectacular, especially at sunset, as the sun cast a warm, golden glow over the city.

And it was then that I realised the true power of pink. There I was, standing atop this symbol of love, romance and French heritage ā€“ and what did I have on? My beautiful, vibrant pink tutu! A reminder that even in the grandest, most historic cities, you can bring a bit of whimsical, pink-tinted magic with you, anywhere you go. šŸ’–

Day 3: A Touch of Theatre

For my final day in Paris, I opted for a day at the theatre. The French Theatre in Paris is one of the oldest theatres in Europe and boasts incredible history and amazing, intimate performances. I knew I would love a visit to this part of Parisian history. The performances at this beautiful, neo-classical, historic theatre are incredible ā€“ you can literally feel the theatreā€™s past in the air! And let's be honest, what's a Pink Tutu blogger without a theatrical twist? I enjoyed a play in a charmingly antiquated theatre ā€“ and yes, I donned a very special tutu for the occasion! šŸ˜‰ My dear friends, Paris is one of the few places on this Earth where you can go from street dancing to watching plays to wandering around one of the most amazing shopping districts and feel totally at home and totally embraced. This truly is a magical city that fits everyone's style!

Goodbye for Now...

Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and my Parisian adventure had to wind down. As I took the EuroStar back home to Derbyshire, I couldnā€™t help but reflect on this magical trip. Paris, with its captivating blend of history, culture, fashion, and artistic flair, continues to steal my heart. It's a city that reminds me that anything is possible. Anything, even achieving the pink tutu world domination that is my lifeā€™s true ambition. šŸ’–

See you all next Saturday for my next Pink Tutu blog post. And remember, dear friends, embrace your inner tutu!

Love, Emma xx
